Review The Old Thatch Inn - Cheriton Bishop

Lovely place with good prices and great food. Very accommodating staff. Were willing to make me a snack despite it not being on the menu and it was, hands down, the best I've had. Haven't tried the rooms so can't comment, but if their attention to detail with their food and drink has been applied to them as well then they will be lovely too.

I believe the Inn is under new management, it being clean and tidy with, an old world charm. The staff were accommodating, professional and friendly. We had a table for 7 and the food was excellent. Dartmoor cask ale complimented the meal. Well worth a visit for drinks alone or on recommendation, food and drinks.

Popped in for a late lunch on the way back from visiting Family and Friends in Exeter. What a gem! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service from the front of house was very good. Hats off to the back of house also, we could see the kitchen staff from our table and they seemed to be enjoying their time when the food orders calmed down - signs of a well run and happy establishment. We will definitely back and would recommend highly.

Went for a midweek lunch with my partner. I hadn't visited for a few years. There were very few other customers. We were made to feel welcome by the staff, even though it was a quiet day, the reception was friendly, relaxed and good humoured. We had a pint each of good beers, in clean glasses and took our menus to the pretty, secluded garden. We couldn't make up our minds what to eat to ordered a mix of a light dish, a panini and a main course. Even though it was a quiet day, everything was prepared to order, fresh and delicious. The fries that came with one dish were the best I've had in a long time. The service and welcome was really good. The chap said he'd taken it over 6 months earlier and his care and attention to to good food, beer and service was notable. If we didn't have to drive we would have loved to have stayed longer. We'll defintely be back next time we have a day off. Thank you!

We visited last Sunday as a group of 12. The food was fantastic and many said it was the best roast they had ever had! Great service too

Delicious pea risotto for lunch in the sunshine just now at the newly revamped Old Thatch. Great food and convivial service at a good price, plus super tasty roasts on a Sunday 😋

My wife and myself were on our way to Cornwall from Perthshire for a holiday. Feeling tired, we turned off the motorway looking for a B+B and within a couple of miles came across the Thatch Inn. Being quite late, we thought we should enquire. Glad we did, double room with breakfast. Very pleasant young chap made us breakfast in the morning and gave us a few pointers of places to visit in Cornwall. Can't recommend the Thatch Inn highly enough.

Went there for Sunday lunch as we were camping just up the road over the Bank Holiday weekend. Very friendly staff and love dogs too. The food was outstanding. If you go... have the brad and butter pudding for desert... thats's to die for. We will be back. Would highly recommend visiting the establishment

Lovely food, but caught it on a bank holiday, so it was extremely noisy. Will try again out of season.
