Had a great stay at the golden eagle, everyone was so friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Loved the record player in the room!
Always our first port of call for Pride Day. Staff work incredibly hard on a really busy day and are always helpful. I would most definitely recommend it. Thanks Debs, Tony and Neil x
Loved it! Room was lovely, staff were amazing and the breakfast was awesome, will be staying here next time I visit Chester
THE alternative venue for supporting the underground music scene of Chester! :)
Coupled with an unusually good juke box, too!
Just love this place. Staff are always lovely and food is fantastic.
Stayed here 24th April, what a warm welcome, felt very at home from the moment we walked in, quirky, cosy and very clean room, and delicious continental breakfast. Superb value for money, will definitely stay here when next in Chester.
A fabulous pub!!! A great find with so much character and individual touches. Great atmosphere, clean and proper service! Why don't all pubs have a jukebox! A MUST!
Stayed 30Oct with another 2 nights to come 😁.
A real gem of a place tucked away, yet a very, very short walk to all the old town attractions.
We have room 3, it is spacious, warm and inviting, with a great comfortable bed.
Pics of our breakfast posted. We were so impressed with our breakfast meal, we are booked for the ‘steak nigh’ meal (Tuesday) tonight.
A big shout out for the Golden Eagle staff, thankyou for being so warm and welcoming to us 😁
OK so Google asks for ratings on rooms (sorry, can't comment as I didn't stay) and location of pub (ever so slightly out of town, but only a couple of minutes walking).
I've lived nearby for many years and sadly not discovered this gem of a pub before. A comfortable, homely place with an excellent range of beers/drinks etc.
Chefs night off when I arrived - luckily for me he was behind the bar and pulled stops out left right and centre.. I ended up with a burger & chips impromptu ... and ... wow ... cooked to perfection. Details count and the salad was dressed too.
I felt guilty in the end (as well as very grateful) as at least another traveller asked for food on his night off). Good range of tap beers, not too noisy, nice cosy environment.
Definitely back for more ... 👍
Lovely pubMy recent visit to The Golden Eagle Pub in Chester was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in a quaint corner, this one-room establishment exuded warmth and charm from the moment I stepped inside.
The true heart of this pub is undoubtedly its landlord, whose welcoming demeanor and passion for creating a delightful experience for every patron shone through. The hospitality was top-notch, making me feel right at home as soon as I entered.
The ambiance of the pub was cozy and inviting, with a touch of old-world charm. The wooden accents and dim lighting added to the comforting and intimate atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can unwind, have engaging conversations, and simply enjoy the company of good friends.
Now, let's talk about the drinks and food. The selection of beverages was impressive, featuring a variety of locally brewed beers and a well-curated list of spirits. Whether you're a fan of ales or prefer something stronger, you're likely to find a drink that suits your taste.
I went in on Steak night but unfortunately they had sold out but judging by the patrons already eating I had missed a treat!
What truly sets The Golden Eagle Pub apart is its sense of community. The regulars and newcomers alike are welcomed with open arms, fostering an inclusive and friendly atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with a fellow patron and leave with new friends.
In summary, The Golden Eagle Pub in Chester is a fantastic establishment that embodies the spirit of a traditional British pub. With its charming ambiance, exceptional hospitality, and delightful offerings, it's a must-visit for anyone looking for a genuine and enjoyable pub experience. well worth a visit.
Nice pub, although the woman behind the bar should learn to smile and be friendly. She seems to treat customers like they have cold called at her house to sell her something just as she was about to get into the bath
Had a great time around the city. Did what we set out to do then hit the bars🍺👍🤣. Had a great hour or so in the bar before bed. Thought I was Quasimodo at one stage because of the bells 🤣🤣. Then to cap it off, what a fantastic breakfast. Will definitely stay again. Thank you for making us feel welcome
One of the best pubs in Chester, off the beaten track a little so never feels overcrowded (especially after the races), but never feels empty too. Great atmosphere and a decent pint.
Only here for drinks so can't comment on rooms, food etc. Excellent pub with a good variety of beers, nice atmosphere and loads of history. Definitely worth seeking out.
Stayed for one night on Saturday 27th May , great location , room was very comfortable and spacious , the staff and owners were superb , very friendly and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Lovely little pub/hotel the staff can't do enough to help you, the breakfast is amazing we definitely be back next time in Chester
Vicky always has my pint ready. Can't ask for more than that! Great venue, great service.
Small old pub by chester courts , not expensive with local friendly people and staff, give it a visit if walking around chester.
In the heart of Chester, nice atmosphere. Always feel relaxed there definitely one of my go to places

This is a hidden gem I found by accident, ifs not sport based more community style. It took me a few years to stumble across this and if you've read any of my reviews you'll know I enjoy a guineas and this is the best pint of Guiness in Chester so far enjoy.
