We stopped over for a drink as it’s one of the oldest pubs in Chester. The service was friendly. Drinks are cheap too. They had 2 shots for £6 which was cheap. It was a bit early but thought it was a good deal.

Was looking for somewhere different to have lunch while on a day trip, and chose this traditional pub tucked away on the upper level of one of Chester's Rows, close to the Cross. Climbed a steep flight of steps to get to it, but there is a more accessible entrance round the back, through a little square behind St Peter's Church. The Victoria is Chester's oldest pub and the interior reflects this, full of olde-worlde atmosphere and charm with its low wooden beams, quirky layout and stained glass windows. Some lovely pictures of old Chester on the walls. There's a cosy parlour with a big TV screen and a beer garden that strangely sits on a paved over graveyard. The only letdown was the toilets, very cramped and in need of renovation. There's a well stocked bar with a good choice of ales, but I ordered a nice Merlot to drink with my meal. The barman was friendly and hospitable, and I was served straight away. The menu offered a pleasing selection of classic pub meals, sandwiches and ciabattas. Ordered the homemade beef lasagne with garlic bread and salad. The lasagne was hot, good quality lean meat with no gristle, and the salad was very fresh. Generous helpings too. Great convivial atmosphere once the pub filled up! Overall a satisfying lunch experience.
Popped in for a bite to eat and a pint. We were not disappointed.
A decent menu on offer, we went for corned beef and pickle and a round of cheese and onion. We were offered some chips and we did not refuse.

The pub was filling up so we gave our seats to a family looking for seating.
Next time we are in Chester needing lunch we shall visit here.
Lively place hidden up and away from the street below. Entertaining staff and locals. Apparently used to be the hangout for local notoriety a long time ago. Good selection of beers.

The Vic has possibly one of the best atmospheres in Chester. The staff and owners are amazing and so friendly.
This bar is a must for anyone out in Chester over the weekend's.

A really lovely and quaint pub. Very oldy world. Very friendly staff and great food. Glad we found it and will definitely go there again when we next visit Chester from Southampton
Visiting chester with a close friend, after we had dinner, we walked around checking the nightlife.
We stopped in the Victoria, had a few drinks.
The staff was lovely, very polite and patient.
The barman was singing karaoke 🎤.
Lovely pub with great architecture and pictures of how chester was back in the day.

Amazing quality pub food and excellent service.
We had the paté and Samosas as starters which were both a good size portion on their own, yet also included salad. Quality and taste were amazing.
Unfortunately one of the mains we ordered had run out (lasagne) so we both had the steak and ale pie. We were given a free pint as the lack of lasagne wasn't discovered until after we had ordered.
When the mains arrived we noticed the generous portions and wished we hadn't eaten the salad before. Upon tasting the pie we instantly regretted not leaving more space in our stomachs for more. Delicious!

Lovely little pub food was great , the staff were fantastic and welcoming. I have been past this place many a time and thought I would pay it a visit this time glad I did would definitely come back again.
This place is very much old olddee world dee sort of place but great for families and a like very polite and friendly and lovely staff can not do enough for you as you ate there and great value for your money

We stopped at Victoria before catching a train home. The pub has a lively feeling to it, we enjoyed the interior.
We were served big portions of a roasted chicken with vegetables and roasted potatoes. Green beans were slightly undercooked but the broccoli, potatoes and the chicken were mouth watering. Filled us rightfully up. Lovely meal.
Tipical English pub furnished as from begining of 20th century, delicious dishes and beer available at afordable prices. Must get used to it that orders are taken only at the bar 😊🍲🍻
Very Busy after chester races, still no problem getting served. Great atmosphere.
