I've been here a few times now to eat and drink as its local but I visited yesterday and had such a great experience .. The restaurant was warm and welcoming I was sat down straight away and offered drinks the staff were friendly and helpful.. Then I ordered my food.. WOW...The food was well presented, hot and very very yummy! complements to the chef!!! Would recommend this homely, well organised pub to anyone! I'll defiantly be back soon x
Popped in here last night on the off chance that they'd have a table, they did and it was the last table for 2. Food was great although my pate starter was a bit sparse. I would've liked a bit more bread with it or at least thicker sliced bread. Beautifully cooked salmon and tasty veg main meal though. My other half enjoyed his mushroom starter and burger and chips main meal. Job done!
We had the Sunday roast and the yummy toffe apple pudding and the rhubarb crumble. Staff were attentive without being over the top. Had a lovely Chenin blanc for £13.95 and had a thoroughly good time 👍😘

Great food, good customer service buts its a shame they dont serve Scampi during the evening meals only during lunch time service. But all in all great atmosphere.
A very warm welcome from the staff and our waitress who was informative and funny.
The pub has a nice selection of food including vegetarian options. There's wide selection of drinks including draft beers 🍻, spirits and wine.
Car park to the rear is large and backs on to a hotel car park. Don't forget to enter your car registration into the tablet when you walk in for free parking 🅿️.
After visiting twice for just drinks decided we would visit with friends for Sunday lunch and booked few days before at 4pm. Unfortunately even though they serve till 6 30 they had run out of Turkey, beef, cauliflower cheese, burgers and certain veg. . We had roast pork with baked apple. Not bad except no apple which is only served Monday to Friday!I felt really sorry for the staff having to give customers this service.
If a pub only takes bookings on a Sunday maybe get an idea of what customers want and get enough stock in.
We will still go for drinks though.
Great place for food and drinks. Came a few weeks ago in the evening. Had ordered food with my partner however there were many things that they didnt have on the menu, poor Owen and Karolina had to run between kitchen and restaurant trying to get the updated menus, non stop apologizing to every table for not having more than half the menu! We saw another guy and woman come to speak to them who looked like maybe new owners, but created more of a chaos if anything. Food was very nice once arrived, and drinks were served fast.
The new management should organise everything a bit more than to leave their staff struggle like this....
The welcome on arrival and kindness of the staff was really impressive and such a nice experience. Very friendly and inviting. I booked a dog-friendly area of the restaurant as I was taking my dog along and the whole experience was great. I also had a 40% discount voucher which made it even better but I understand that due to the popularity of the offer, there were some items not available on the menu. I'll definitely be back for another great evening!
Lovely pub/restaurant, been coming here for years. Bar area is nice with good selection and has front and back outdoor areas. Also, most importantly, it is a dog friendly establishment.🐶
I have visited twice in the last year, and both times when I've ordered food, they haven't had either of my 2 choices.
Two weeks ago, I ordered mushrooms for
Starter and ribeye steak to be told they didn't have either only Sirloin.
I ordered the chicken starter and fish and chips to be told 10 min later at the table they didn't have the chicken starter! Not the end of the world, but they should have known what they have and what they don't have. Wont stop me from coming back as the food is too good. I do recommend this place
The food would have been 5 stars but whoever thought seasoning fish batter with loads of black pepper needs to think again ,we ordered 3 fish and chips as we have had it several times before and it was excellent ,this time however it was so spicy the batter was inedible very disappointed why change a good thing the chef needs to leave traditional fish batter alone if i want to add pepper it’s on the table.
That said the other three meals were excellent the lasagna was great.
Also why have you stopped offering cream with the coffee only milk
Considering there seemed to be only a few members of staff on, you would never have known because the service was exceptional. The male member of staff who greeted us was very mindful of the fact that we had an elderly guest (she's 103) and offered us a choice of tables. Both he and the female staff member were so attentive. The meal was absolutely delicious and the ambience in the room was warm, chatty and thoroughly enjoyable. My sister and i live in Cambridge but we will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our visit feel so special!

The service was excellent and the new Manager is really making some positive changes. Customer care is very good. The staff are friendly and professional and we were made to feel like valued customers. The food was very good - our party had a range of dishes from steak to Hunters Chicken and Aubergine Parmigiana and all were delicious. The children’s menu is ok and good value. Will definitely be back - thorough enjoying our local.
Impromptu lunch as we were early for an event and not familiar with the area. Staff were very friendly and help. Food was good and clearly freshly prepared Fish finger sandwich was very filling and tasty. Restaurant offered a warm comfortable atmosphere. Service was Excellent.
As always, this pub provides excellent and considerate service to both its human and four legged guests.
We were made to feel very comfortable, our dog was given water and biscuits, plus ice cream and the food was excellent.
We booked a table for 7 people at 7pm on thursday 21st september. When we arrived we were advised of a large staff shortage due to illness.
Our waitress Charlotte, actually the only waitress, was very professional, attentive and friendly. Our meals were absolutely perfect as always. One of our party is a coeliac and both Charlotte and your chef ensured her needs were fully met.
