Came here for my birthday and what a find - a high end & excellent seafood restaurant in Ongar which is in deepest Essex as far as I am concerned. We just had plate after plate of starters to the extent there was no room left on the table as the plates were so big and shared everything. I don't think I could complain about a single dish. It's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for - will definitely revisit!

My friend booked a table for the birthday and I was lucky enough to join in. The restaurant is buzzing, the hosting and waiting staff are super friendly and professional. The food was absolutely delicious - scallops were cooked beautifully and I had the Halibut from the specials menu, but also had a taste of the monkfish which was meaty and cooked to perfection. Paired with a bottle of Sancerre which was kept on ice by the waiting staff, our glasses were regularly topped up. They only take reservations - no walk ins. This was a real treat and I can't wait to visit Smiths again 👏🏾💯

A superb restaurant with nice decor and ambience. Specialises in fish with brilliant well cooked food. They do a set menu which is fantastic value for money. The octopus 🐙 starter was delicious and very tender. The service was faultless too. Highly recommend for lunch or the evening for a special occasion.

Visited on a Tuesday and Smiths was busy, it's not a cheap evening but was worth every penny. All the staff were friendly, but professional and efficient. The atmosphere were just right, warm welcome, not sitting close to other customers, perfectly for a relaxing experience. The food is high quality, served at a nice place and my was popping hot, had to let it cool down to enjoy. Highy recommend, will be visiting again
