Lovely quaint little pub with a fab restaurant, the food was amazing best bit of steak I have had in ages , staff all very friendly
We had our Christmas dinner here. We all had all three courses and I couldn't believe the amount of vegetables that came with it.......I counted at least 6!! The food was all cooked beautifully and came out piping hot. Both the starters and desserts were to die for. Loved the whole evening!! Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Would recommend The Amberwood to anyone who is thinking of eating out.
Stopped off for a late lunch and had a lovely roast dinner! Friends enjoyed their meals too (Seabass and mixed grill). Nice friendly staff. Great food. Fab prices. Will definitely go back again .
Went here 29/05/17 because the Cat and Fiddle was fully booked (which they seemed very smug about). Our party was four adults and 5 children. The service we received was excellent and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend the Amberwood Inn if you are in the area, great first impression.
attended for a wedding anniversary meal, we were all made to feel welcome, the food and service were first class. food was really hot and everyone commented on how good it was.there were 23 of us so no easy task. thank you
So totally happy with our dinning experience here. Great decor, comfortable surroundings, attentive and friendly staff.
Good menu, food of good quality and portion size. Served within an acceptable time frame.
Pleasent unobtrusive background music too.
So impressed have made reservation for 16 people in September.
What a great place. Excellent food. Extremely accommodating to a group of 12. Dog friendly pub. Landlady was so kind and runs the pub like a family - spoke to our two little kids about crabbing and what they had been up to during the day. Lovely atmosphere and not overly crowded. Table placements are perfect. Food is excellent!! Visited two days in a row. Their roast dinner was lovely and a large portion. All appeared to be homemade on site. Would definitely recommend for any family (kids menu is also great!). Saving this one for the next time we visit.
The pub has recently been refurbished, with a tasty new menu.
Service was excellent, good quality food, served in good time.
OK pub staff friendly and food was good. Beer is OK and looked after well, mind you I only had the bottled Cranborne Poacher.
Staying locally and googled for a dog friendly pub that does Sunday lunch, the amberwood inn popped up with already good reviews but surpassed expectations, very friendly to our little dog, great selection of drinks and amazing roast beef sunday lunch. Excellent. Highly recommend.
Great food! Pub looks amazing after the refurb. Would highly recommend this place.
Just been here for a family meal while on our holiday. Food was perfect, and the portions were vast. I asked for changes to the meal and they were more than happy to accommodate. The food look like its freshly made, none of this frozen food from large chain restaurants.
The staff were brilliant, interacting with the kids, very friendly and welcoming. If I lived local, I would be back here tomorrow.
We went here on a recommendation and we are very glad we did.
Good food , my wife had the gammon and I had a ribeye . Both were vert good portions and worth the money..
We are going back for Sunday lunch to try that out...
I've driven past the Amber wood most days for years. Today we decided to stop and eat, and so glad we did.
The decor was very fresh and inviting. Welcomed with a hello by the barman as soon as we step through the door.
Intially intended to have a Sunday roast but upon seeing the menu I went for the crispy pork belly starter and cod loin & scallops main. My partner went more traditional prawn cocktail and steak (no mushrooms - allergic). I was subsequently informed that they were out of cod loin so I went for seafood spaghetti.
My starter was wonderful. If they added a couple of roast spuds and a bit of veg it would have as a main meal. Prawn cocktail also got a thumbs up from the other half.
After starters, two enormous main meals arrived, unfortunately my partners had mushrooms but they immediately admitted their mistake and recooked her meal. My seafood spaghetti was out of this world. So glad they were out of the cod. A huge portion but the majority of the bowl was full of seafood and not spaghetti. Delicious.
Wish I'd dropped in before but will make more reqular stops to make sure this was not a one off
We came down for a Sunday dinner with the whole family, 4 adults, 1 child, 1 infant, and the dog. The food was amazing, good portion sizes, lovingly prepared, and tasted great. They were happy for the dog to sit with us in the bar area. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
And to top it off they held a meat raffle in aid of macmillan, in which we won a lamb joint which was turned into a roast the next day! Staff are very friendly, locals welcoming, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended if over in the area. Surprisingly it wasn't that busy for a Sunday lunch period (although we were booked in for 2:45pm)
Definitely worth the 5 stars.
Quite simply, we often pop into The Amberwood for lunch or evening meal and it's a great place to meet friends.
Recently renovated and dog friendly, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is freshly prepared. The environment is relaxed .
We visited twice while we were on holiday. They were very dog friendly bringing him a bowl of water.
The Sunday dinner was lovely but the meal midweek was a little bland, but we would visit again.
Excellent food
Fantastic service
Great value for money 💰
A very much traditional and large family pub and restaurant with a welcoming warmth. Lovely service and the roast dinner is magnificent, one of the best I can remember, with a choice small and large and meat combo. The small is not so small either but good for the lighter eater. The Yorkshires were grand too. Highly recommend a visit if your hungry, even have nibbles on the bar 🍻
Second visit in a week, hadn’t been for years up to this week. The atmosphere since the refurb is loads better and super comfy to sit in. Food quality is really good, fresh and piping hot, good choice and generous portions. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Will deffo be back, pleased it seems to be back to its old standards as can add it to the list of local places to eat / drink. We were impressed.
An impromptu but late in the day Sunday roast. Dropped in, staff very pleasant and accommodating with a friendly and prompt service from all who served us and with good banter. Food was tasty though the potatoes and red cabbage a bit dry but remedied with extra yummy gravy. Beef was a too well done for our liking but still tasty.
Had an amazing Sunday lunch today. The best roast ive had in a very long time and thats saying something as Im always out for roasts dinners. The food was top quality and big portions and loads of meat and propper gravy. Great service. Definitely will be back nothing else has been this good in a very long time
Lovely relaxed evening, good food and great service. We had the bonus of it being quiz night, we were pretty poor but really enjoyed it. Everyone very friendly.
Excellent food, great customer service, lovely comfortable seating, cosy atmosphere.
