A good old classic country pub with classic pub food and great proportions. You often don’t find ploughman’s on a menu anymore, but they do and they honestly have the best one - great chunky slices of cheese and ham with thick slices of fresh bread. The pub can get busy but when the sun is out there are plenty of spaces outside, even a covered outside space. Dogs are welcomed
I really do love this place. I've been coming here for years on and off, and it's always a pleasure.
The look, feel and ambience of The Crown hasn't changed. Its stayed a village hideaway pub and I'm glad about that.
On the summer time, the gardens are full of flowers and fresh Mendip Hills air, and in the winter, the open hearth is often burning. Either way, any seaso , this pub really does deliver the scene you want from a village pub. If you spend a little time here, it really is the kind of place where everybody knows your name.
The food here is served as a lunchtime menu, but the pub is open all day and snacks are available.
Talking of the food.... I have eaten in a lot of places and this place just seems to hit the spot every time. It simply just isn't average pub food. It's gorgeous.
Maybe half of it is the way this place makes you feel. It's just so cosy and friendly.
The barlady who served me was very ice and knew everything on tap and in the barrel. Very good lnowledge, I was I.pressed.
So there you have it in my opinion, a diamond pub in a diary.ond setting.
A lovely olde worlde sort of building with lots of interesting places to sit. We chose to sit outside as it was a nice day.
We came for the ploughman's as it had been advertised as the best ploughman's in Somerset, it did not dissappoint, fabulous! The mixed cheese plate was excellent my friend had cheese and ham and couldn't finish it all.
We will go back as we noticed some of the other dishes coming out to other customers and wanted to try their dinner as well!
Found this cottage style pub slightly off the beaten track but so worth a visit. Friday lunchtime so fairly busy. Great menu. Seating indoors and outdoors front and rear of pub. Friendly staff. Great selection of beers and ciders. You could consider the decor to be dated and in need of repair but it goes with the style of pub. There is additional parking in a field opposite. Will be going back soon.
First time here but definitely not last great little pub with plenty of charm and great food well worth visiting see you soon .
On a sunny day a perfect spot for lunch. A great pint and a huge ploughman's.
The Crown is unique in every way and a blast from the past. Quirky, old fashioned and rustic. A very small village pub, perfect for a drink after a long walk, to talk to friends and have something to eat. The staff are really friendly, with an excellent choice of ales, ciders, etc. The menu has a good selection of food, for such a small place. When busy, please be prepared to wait for your order, but it's definitely worth that wait. Food is made fresh to order, in a very tiny kitchen. Dogs are also made for feel welcome. An amazing place and well worth a visit.
Very nice old school pub. Friendly staff and most importantly super tasty food. Portions are generous too!
Nice area inside and plenty of seats outside.
Great traditional and earthy pub - perfect after a long walk. Dogs welcome. Kids too (apparently on a lead according to the sign above the bar). The value for money was crazy - we had a ploughmans and the amount of food we got for what we paid was awesome. Perfect stop on a winters day with warm log burner.
Note: It can get busy and you can't reserve a table
An absolute gem of a pub, nestled in the Mendip hills. A proper old-school boozer, decent selection of ales and a cracking, deep-fill, sandwich. On a sunny day, the beer garden, or tables out the front, are lovely with the latter boasting a view of the Bristol Channel. In the winter there are roaring fires and respite from the inevitable rain. My wife and I come here after any dog walk in the hills for a post-walk pint and bag of scratchings.
