Idiosyncratic and Iconic. Just down the road from the excellent Talland School of Equitation, is a sign for an organic farm shop and cafe. Tucked away at the end of a long straight drive (the Romans were here!) off the Burford Road, between Cirencester and Barnsley, is this absolute gem of an organic foodie’s destination stop-off. Selling and serving a wide variety of quality organic (and nothing but organic) produce from their mixed arable and livestock farm, it is staffed by passionate and knowledgeable helpers who know what they are about, and look as if they enjoy being there. The best wholemeal sourdough bread (70/30 white brown and 70/30 brown white), perfectly weighted and excellent flavour. Meats fresh and frozen (the steak is fantastic), including cuts rarely found on supermarket shelves - tongue (just boil submerged in water for a couple of hours); Friday is chicken day, including packs of wings, feet and bones for stock, livers (great with pasta); and interesting combinations in home made frozen ready meals. Their own milk from a dispenser, (bring your own bottle or buy one), and great eggs from the farm chickens. Vegetables and fruit which follow the seasons. And all the usual deli oils, pulses, teas, coffees, cereals etc from artisan suppliers, including a selection of well sourced, reasonably priced, organic wines (the Chateau Rochecolombe Côtes du Rhône is a great buy). Snails would be a nice addition, surely there is a producer somewhere that uses organic oats to clean them 😂 I now leave the house early to stop off for a working lunch in pleasant informal surroundings, en route to the horses. Home made soup of the day, using produce from the farm; a selection of 6 seasonal salads, and dishes of the day - homity pie (had to look it up), Sunday roast lunch (no booking needed) not yet sampled. The price of organic chicken in Waitrose is approximately four times that of the mass produced birds, and more expensive than this farm shop. When Waitrose shoppers baulk at paying £26 for a small chicken, another organic supplier will be forced out of business. If you are minded to shop and eat organically, supporting the producer rather than enhancing the supermarket’s share price, is surely the way to ensure the continuing availability of organic food. While the supermarket may offer convenience, this place offers so much more. Thanks and Bravo!🙏

You need this in your life. All yellow labels denote produce grown on site. Great bustling cafe serving great foods grown by themselves. No dogs allowed but there is info on dog walks. If you miss misshapen carrots and mud on spuds treat yourself to this organic way of thinking.

I had the most amazing roast this Sunday it was delicious. Recently I’d had very mediocre roast at another local village pub, both roasts were the same price but you could certainly tell the difference in flavour. The roast from the organic farm cafe was far superior in taste. I’d highly recommend it. Plus all staff looked so happy to be there which is very unusual in hospitality at the moment. In the shop I was pleasantly surprised to see so many items that had been made, grown and produced there. The ready meals and cakes were priced at a competitive rates and quite reasonable. We tried the vegetable lasagna which was easy to heat up and outstanding. My child is now eating more vegetables again after trying the homegrown selection. Overall it appeared to be a smoothly run establishment with very friendly staff. They were always happy to help and answer questions. The owners must be really proud of what they have.

Really appealing genuine products. More than helpful personnel. The restaurant was far larger than the shop, perhaps organic restaurant with farm shop.

Really simple to arrange the reservation, and had the field almost all to myself, which was lovely and very relaxed

Very good section of food, fresh fruit and vegetables. I loved the "no plastic" way of buying household items. (So remember to take your own tupperware) however some items you can buy Straight from the supermarkets at half the price though.

Had a wedding in the woods. Very rustic. Great fun. Had a coffee in the shop and a wonder round whilst waiting on our lift on the tractor. Great fun

Nice cafè and extensive shop. Enjoyed a tasty, freshly prepared veggie lunch and browse around the shop. Apparently meat is served Sundays when the cafè offers trad roast Sunday lunches.

I've been coming here every time I visit the UK with family in the UK. They attend weekly. It is literally the BEST kept secret in Wiltshire. The owners are hugely likeable, committed, knowledgeable people who believe in what they do and share their principles regarding good food. There's a little cafe where you can get really decent, healthy, well made, fresh food daily. The range of food here is par none and hard to find in large cities like London. The care and attention to location, variety and freshness is also unparalleled. Every town should have a Organic Farm Shop like this - but alas ones as good as this are hard to find. You must love the extras; items you won't find anywhere else, and the non-food items that are fun and often from India which beautiful intricacy and quality. Food-wise I can find everything I want (and quite a bit more!) including special diets, vegan etc. All the food is meticulously laid-out and fresh. The veg they grow is outstandingly good & the fun is finding what's IN season. Just a gorgeous little part of the world with a lovely garden and grounds - you can happily spend several hours in this little Eden and come away refreshed and invigorated. Long may they last. HIGHLY recommended.
