Amazing! Quirky place with welcoming staff. The food is amazing. Usually on a platter there are a few good things bulked out with mediocre stodge. The smokehouse 138 platter is all superb. The Smoked sausage is amazing. Partner had the porker burger and loved it.
The type of place you'd expect in the northern quarter of Manchester. Yet it's in clayton!!
Will be regular visitors.
As a chef of many years I thoroughly enjoyed the food here... atmosphere was great and venue and staff were too. If your Into delicious soft smoked meats and amazing sides then get the Platter as we did... because we are fat we got a burger on there too!! The ribs are the best ribs I've ever had.... better than reds bbq!! Even the chips are epic! Get the tropic thunder cocktail too!!

Went last night with a friend and ordered the platter for 2 with some pit beans. My God, the food was awesome! Really well seasoned, tender, great portion sizes and served in a timely manner. Very affordable prices too and a good selection of drinks as well as a varied menu. Couldn’t have asked for more. Everything right down to the decor is spot on. I’m going back before weekend, this place could end up bankrupting me!
So smokehouse 138... I would certainly recommend it to anyone.. its different in a good way .. Staff make the place for me.. We found them very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic! Portions sizes were good too ...all in all a great experience... If your thinking about going you wont be disappointed.. If there are few of you then make a reservation, the venue is small and it was busy on a wed night so imagine trying to get in at weekend...but don't let that put you off.. There's a bar area downstairs and food is served upstairs.:) We all .had a great time at smokehouse thanks Lou for all your help beforehand...We will be back � x x x
Went for a meal tonight with my partner and loved everything the food was delicious the cocktails and service was fantastic can’t recommend this restaurant enough definitely worth a visit ��

Date night with my guy and he takes me to Smokehouse 138 ...... What an absolute top meal. The staff are brilliant and friendly and we opted for the Platter. All very very tasty and the homemade sauces were delicious, made by the owner. We will definitely be back, thanks guys for an enjoyable evening
Ordered the porker burger and it was fantastic! So tasty and the chips were delicious too - great food for reasonable prices. The staff are so friendly and really make you feel welcome. By far one of the best burgers I’ve ever had so will definitely be returning!

This is a great little place, we went on New Years Eve, I had the Dirty Burger ( two homemade burgers covered in chilli con carne) and my partner had the porker ( two homemade burgers covered with pulled pork) both served with fries and coleslaw. Yum. Washed down with a gin and tonic for me and a beer for my partner. Can't fault it.

My fiance and I had a fantastic meal here. We tried the platter which had a little of each meat on. The food was delicious and the portions very generous. We ended up taking home more than we are on the night. The combination of high quality and volume is very rare. They also offer a buy one get one free offer on cocktails which my fiancee enjoyed immensely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere and decor we're interesting. Definitely a hidden gem.

It is very rare I leave a review, especially a positive one but I was so impressed with this place I felt I had to. If you want to save yourself a read of my essay below... If you love meat, get yourself to this place ASAP! Don't question it, just go!
A party of 16 of us came here for a birthday meal.
The Venue
This small but stylish restaurant is split over two levels, the lower being a bar area and the upper being a seating area. It is nicely decorated with a rock bar atmosphere. It was very clean and tidy and all tables are nicely laid out with a decent spacing between each. With 16 of us being together on one large table it did feel a little bit snug for those of us with broader shoulders and bigger guts but not to the point it was an issue. The staircase is quite steep so be mindful if you take any elderly people.
The Staff
Upon entry we were greeted by the owner who was friendly and inviting, he immediately made us feel welcome and quickly got us some drinks. We were boring and just had a fruit cider, I was driving so only had the one but would have loved to try some of their cocktails, the barman/mixologist was hard at work whipping up some very nice looking cocktails. All of the staff where very friendly, polite and professional. They all made us feel really welcome and couldn't do enough to help us. If felt like a personal service which is a rarity these days, especially around here. You can tell the team have a passion for great food and drink
The Food
Its hard to put into words how good this food is. I had the brisket and its was cooked to perfection! It melted in the mouth, was so tender I could have done with a spoon vs a fork, it came with a beautiful bourbon sauce, the brisket didn't really need this because it was so flavoursome but when combined... wow. I also sampled other dishes around the table and was impressed with everything. The sticky chicken was great, the bacon burger was brilliant. The potion sizes were good, especially my brisket and even the homemade coleslaw went down a treat. Consensus around the table was everything was beautiful.
To Sum up
I will be highly recommending this place to anyone and everyone that will listen. This little gem of a restaurant and if like me you are a bit of a carnivore get yourself down to this place ASAP! They do take away as well and we will be all over this on pay day.
If the team read this. You should be very proud of yourselves and I just want to say thank you again for making my girlfriends birthday meal so great! We loved it and will most certainly back (if you couldn't have guessed from the above)

Me and my girlfriend went for my birthday and we had some of the best food at a restaurant we've ever had. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was brilliant. We ordered the platter with some sides and struggled to finish it. You get amazing quality food, and massive portions. We are definitely coming back soon!
The atmosphere and attention to detail with the food and service was outstanding. Visited with the family for a meal out and was recommended the smoke house even though we are located in Salford we still decided to go pay a visit best thing we ever did it had a warm family friendly feeling and the food was fantastic we definitely recommend paying a visit.
Went here with family for Sunday tea. Didn't book just turned up. Got seats no problem. Dining area is small so phoning first is probably a good idea. Has licenced bar with beer and spirit. Parking is on street. Menu is great and child portions are available. Food is very good and well priced. Staff are really helpful. Enjoyed the food and experience so will be back soon.
Great tasting food, fantastic portions at a reasonable price. The service was welcoming and efficient. The venue is ambiant and homely which encouraged us to stay for a few drinks after our meal in the bar area. All in all, one of the best dining experiences I have had in quite a few years.
Would definitely recommendl! Loved the look of this place and what the owners have done to it. Staff were very polite and always happy to help. Hats off to the chef with the food looking amazing and tasting even better, with all my party thinking it was great value for money. My fiancée was keen to try different cocktails and was highly impressed with them all. Found a hidden gem and will certainly be retaining.
