An absolute pleasure to have lunch accompanied with 2 locally brewed ales. The nibbles were all first class, the suet pudding filled with venison, pheasant, partridge and duck was cooked to perfection. No room for a dessert, just a latte. A truly great lunchtime experience 👍🏻
Saturday afternoon quick drink. Great place. Really attentive friendly staff. Looks like you need to book if you want to eat - a very popular place! We will be back! Sausage roll looked good.
Upon visiting very recently, we were delighted with the food and service here. Absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed lamb with cockle suet pudding, the fish dish and children’s burger and chips. All exquisite. Staff could not do enough to help and look after us. An absolute gem on our travels!
We decided to stop off at the pub on the off chance we could get a table for lunch. We were lucky and I'm so pleased as it was the best meal we've had in a long time. The food was fresh and made from scratch, it makes such a difference even to something as simple as relish. I believe the meat etc co
Excellent food . Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Only ate here but made to feel very welcome.
The high score was based mainly on the food and the quality of it. The menu was limited with choices and there is only one menu for the restaurant and the bar. The menu has nice options to choose from also. It is expensive but I feel this is probably due to the type of food they are offering. For on
The food is excellent & the staff very helpful. You will pay a premium price & be told you’re paying a 10% service charge on top. TBH if the management read this just put the 10% into your prices they’re high end anyway. All telling people you’re putting 10% on top does is piss them off.
We went here for dinner and so glad we chose this place to dine. Beautiful pub, friendly and warm welcoming service by all the staff we encountered. Very tasty British food. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Lake District!
We went there the week of the re-opening and, even though there were a few changes at the restaurant, the place looked amazing!! We sat in one of the rooms, at a big table, decoration is fantastic, area was quite intimate and it wasn’t noisy. Food was delicious! They just mixed up two dishes, one ma
Looked nice so walked in for a meal which was absolutely delicious. Would certainly visit again if it weren't so far from home
Stopped for a meal, we had no reservation but they fitted us in quickly. Thankfully we were early in the evening or we would have been disappointed. Very friendly staff, food tasted amazing.
Large family christening. Smooth, fast ,efficient service. Excellent food. Made to feel very welcome. Thank you G&D
Wonderful dinner using locally grown produce. Service very good. Very interesting decor related to the history of the Lowther family. A great surprise find.
Been twice since the refurb - it's good but something is missing compared to before. The food isn't as well cooked and the service slower - might just be teething issues - I hope so
Can't comment on food unfortunately as we didn't eat, but based on beer, service, decor and outdoor areas, if I could give this gem six stars I would. Highly recommended.
Reasonably priced good food. Good menu choices. A lovely pub that has been recently refurbished.
Wonderful place. So glad it’s back open. Friendly staff. Food amazing. Party of four. Four courses. All different. All amazing.
