I absolutely adore this lovely tearoom. I highly recommend cream tea with homemade scones. Scones are definitely their speciality. Excellent food all round. There is also a hand craft shop and a beautiful garden to sit in.
What a gem this tea room is... stunning location. Food is fabulous, recommend the jacket spuds, very large with oven crisped skin and generous toppings. The staff are so friendly and efficient, doing a great job. Its busy on a weekend, but I will be back soon... highly recommended
50th wedding anniversary for me and the wife, Perfect place what a wonderful setting for the tearooms, the food is perfect the staff are wonderful and so friendly and helpful, a lovely afternoon spent with my family and friends.
Lovely setting and staff very friendly. We had the ginger scone cream tea with rhubarb & ginger jam It was delicious will definitely be going back.
A lovely tea room with an adorable gift shop in a lovely rural Leicestershire location not far from Loughborough. Cheese Scones are incredible and huge, served warm with butter. We had jacket potatoes and toasties and had no complaints, my tuna cheese toastie was nice. They have a lovely outdoor to use if sunny but lots of indoor space too. I would suggest booking on weekends especially as it does get busy. Everyone is very friendly and the tables were clean, we waited a little while to have our table cleared and order cake but we were chatting away so didn't bother us at all, they had also just finished a VERY busy lunch time so I cant blame them for slowing down a little. Needs a refurb and I believe they are crowdfunding - will update with link if I can find it. Overall, I would definitely recommend!
A remarkable gem, much more than a tea room. They do lunch options too, but I have to mention the scones, which are amazing, probably the best I have ever had. The team create a wonderful atmosphere of support making all feel welcome. There can be a bit of a wait at times, often because everyone has a chance to talk. That just gives time to sit back and relax, soak up the atmosphere, explore the crafts or have a look at some of the books in the library. Dogs are welcome outside and in one room inside. In winter they might even light a fire. Don't expect luxurious ultra modern, this is much more authentic with a remarkable collection of real china tea pots.
Oh my, the fishcake sconewich was out of this world. It was a special for August, so please don't be disappointed if you go and its not available, but based on this we are going back.......
St Joseph's is, to all intents and purposes, an adjunct to nearby Mount St Bernard Abbey, and makes for a perfect conclusion to a visit to the Abbey, adding gastronomic nourishment to the spiritual. NB, the place is not a profit-driven, whip-cracking food machine; so it can be a good place to hone the virtue of patience on Bank Holidays and at weekends, when it is exceptionally busy. But any wait is worth it! ... be it for a jacket potato, toastie, speciality soup or the legendary cream tea! It is a little gem, and the staff are wonderful people too 🥰
Met a friend for lunch and think we should have booked as very busy ! Really lovely and famous for their scones- must try next time! Nice craft shop area and crafts on display around the cafe ! We had a wait but friendly staff and food excellent!
Lovely surprise after a long drive. Freshly cooked food which set me up for the day. Superb, attentive, discreet staff. Gorgeous country side and a short walk from the Abbey. Reasonably priced!
