Great to have a drink with a nice selection of beers. Very comfortable and the food looked great. Would go back to eat here.

Absolutely amazing place atmosphere is amazing staff are friendly very big pub so not crowded when busy and always seems well maintained definitely a lovely pub to go during the day or of an evening

Lovely boozer, In centre of town. Very clean and refreshing pints of Carlsberg only £3.55. Nice to see a pub having good aircon.

Have used this pub on numerous occasions.

The service was very fast, no matter it's been St Patrick's day.
Whiskey on the rocks was perfect for Friday night of a crazy week.
It was really nice music, I knew almost every hit. People around were also very nice.
I saw a wheelchaired person in a company which feels really good that this place is inclusive.
Plus it's been nice to see people in green hats. Very fun and festive.
Thank you for the atmosphere.

Fantastic proper pub, called in for “one” drink before heading home Wednesday night, woke up in the Red Lion Hotel opposite next morning after 10 Grey Goose vodka’s !!! Wonderful atmosphere, really lovely kind helpful friendly bar staff, interesting people who welcomed me and easy to chat with. Clean , spacious, pool or snooker table , live football etc and great selection of all alcoholic and nonalcoholic plus coffee!!! A place you can sit chat with the locals or just sit quietly on your own. A must if you are ever in Colchester!!!

Me and my partner had a nice chicken and burger meal here last night. Zed on the bar was really friendly and helpful and Meg in the kitchen cooks a great meal.We will be back today to celebrate St Patrick's Day!

Went with my husband and 5 Yr old son, it was our 1st visit to Colchester and this experience made it all the better.
The man behind the bar was by himself at the time but was only happy to please and was very attentive. Even when I left the queue at the bar as he was very busy, he came back to my table afterwards to ask if I needed anything and took my drinks order. The food was really good and prices were reasonable too. If only everyone could deliver this kind of service.

Visited for a quick drink and meal. Bartender was lovely and chatty, friendly with his regulars and very cheery. Not huge choice on menu for vegetarian meals or desserts but food was reasonably priced and enjoyed.

Food was good. Quick service. Good selection of lager and Ale. Had run out of Green King IPA on the day.
Edit: I turned up today and he got me that pint of IPA. Lovely, so stayed and had some more 😎. Top man Martin.

Went in Dec 2020 (Tier 2 Colchester / Tier 4 London). Friendly helpful staff. Ordered wings as 'Substantial meal' to go with pints of Peroni. Enjoyed. Had football on TV. RECOMMEND.
