Review The Colesbourne Inn - Colesbourne

Bob Stephens
My wife and l stopped at the Colesbourne Inn by chance, and what a lovely experience it was. I was greeted by a very nice young man who provided me with a menu to take to the car to look at. The same waiter showed us to a table in a bay window which had a nice view over the countryside and served us during the meal. My wife and l both chose haddock. The fish was beautifully cooked in a crisp batter which was not greasy and the chips were perfect, the food was nicely presented on the plate. We had one chocolate brownie between us which again was excellent, it was accompanied by a very good vanilla ice cream. The food and service were excellent, thank you. Recommended.

We had a warm greeting from the proprietor and took our drinks to the peaceful garden to enjoy before our meal. The fish and chips deal was excellent, and was the best fish and chips we’ve had in ages. Service was perfect, and the desserts were amazing. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Definitely going back soon.

Lovely , relaxed dining experience with very attentive waiting by Ryan and a warm welcome from Ellie at the bar. The food was beautifully presented, with delicious flavours coming through with every mouthful. When I asked if there were any dairy free desserts, Tracy the amazing chef , offered to “whip me up something “. The result was a wonderful cheesecake, with a summer fruit compote - such lovely personal service. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again !!

Staff were very friendly. Food was lovely. I took a cake for my parents anniversary and without asking the wrote happy anniversary on a plate and added fresh fruit. Very thoughtful of them. Thank you x

A friend’s recommendation brought us there, having passed the place many times. Made an online booking which was easy and very efficient. Friendly staff, excellent food and all the dishes were well presented and tasted delicious. Already booked for another visit. Second visit was to the same high standard

Superb pub! So friendly every time, we love it, service is great and food was so good and well priced. We have been as a family of four just fir drinks and as a couple for an evening meal and licely experiences each time. Need more pubs like this one, thank you to the team!

Service was extremely slow and staff were overwhelmed. Starter delicious sharing cheese dip, upon asking for more bread as not enough to finish the cheese, told bluntly it would be charged for which we expected anyway. Had to ask where our main courses were after being in the restaurant nearly 1.5 hours. Brought quickly so clearly just sitting there, they were very nice. Decided against dessert and coffee. A lovely meal in a place we come back to again and again but service let it down this time. Staff are all professional and very nice.

Good value food. I didn't enjoy my choice, but that wasn't the restaurants fault. My husband's fish and chips were great.

Dropped in for supper and met the new landlord, Mike. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with our excellent meal; the service was great as was the atmosphere. Quite a while since we’ve visited the Colesbourne but we’ll certainly be back soon!

We stopped there for Sunday roast on the way from Wales and it was super delicious. Chicken was nice and tender, nice vegetables and sticky toffee pudding was super yummy.

Mike and his staff looked after a party of 19 walkers extremely well, our pre-ordered lunches being delivered to us without a delay. Vas, one of the waitresses, was efficient and very pleasant, as was the chef (who I met as we were leaving). All in all, I cannot complain about the service we got. Colin

Food choices and quality was excellent. Staff also very friendly and attentive. The environment and furnishings are very cosy and traditional. The gents toilet could do with updating and that’s the only reason for not giving 5 stars. Highly recommended.
