Called into this pub on Friday and were treated very well. The staff were friendly and were easily able to pour the excellent beer fast enough. The steak was of a high quality and cooked bang on. Many thanks for the hospitality.

One of the best meals I've ever had. Shame it's not closer to us as we are staying in Stoke Rochford Hall but we live in Essex. Cannot recommend this enough absolutely superb.

What a gem find this place is, good food, great service, and a good atmosphere. Looked for some where to eat on a stop over and found this place. Fantastic value for money as the portions were on the large side and the home made pie was to die for. Really do recommend.

Excellent pub! Third time visiting since moving to the area recently. The first time we were put off by the atmosphere but some friends told us it had changed management but think the chef is the same so we gave it another go. Glad we did as the pub is excellent! I have a dairy intolerance and they were so accommodating and were able to make me a delicious dairy free dessert. The staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way for you. Plus the prices are great value too. Just hope it doesn’t get too popular now! As you need to book at the weekend. Highly rate the fish and chips and the pie of the day, great food and portion sizes.

What a lovely place to spend an evening. We were driving from Scotland to Kent with a dog, so needed to break the journey. Stayed at the nearby Travelodge and walked to the White Lion for dinner. The landlord was friendly, welcoming and helpful, the young lad who served us was delightful, and the food was excellent - great portions, good prices and very yummy. Plenty of veggie and vegan choices, as well as steak and lots of pub classics. The butternut squash and feta filo pie was amazing. We sat in the grassy bit of the garden (up some steps), where there was a freshly-filled dog bowl, and she was very happy. We were so comfortable there we stuck around long after eating, to have a few more drinks and play cards. Couldn’t recommend it more highly!

We stopped off on our journey from Brighton to Tynemouth. We read great reviews and decided to visit as it was not far from the A1. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. The two members of staff were attentive and happy about answering my queries regarding the gluten free options. The food was plentiful and filling. The music was great. The pub was spacious but homely. On leaving the pub we had a nice chat with a local chap (aka Karaoke Lenny). Would defo recommended.

We stopped off by chance to break our journey from Haworth to London, and were immediately greeted with a friendly smile. We just had a sandwich, but it was nicely presented on good bread and served with either chips or salad. But they do offer a full menu for those wanting something more, it is reasonably priced, the service is good and everything comes with a smile, which makes such a big difference. A very fortunate stop.

Went for a walk with my friend's dog's and popped in for a beer 🍻 @ the White lion " the owner was straight out and gave the dog's a bowl of water and some nibbles, then my friend and I had a bite to eat and another beer** we sat for approximately 2 hours outside in the torrential rain and thunder; soaking up the atmosphere! Would definitely recommend it.
