Review Stables Kitchen - Constable Burton

We had the cobwebs and cream tea tour. We started with a self guided tour of the house. Then our very knowledgeable guide took us around the back areas, servants corridors and attics. It was outstanding. You need sensible shoes and knees that can take a lot of stairs! We had upgraded to the full afternoon tea, which was huge and delicious.

I really enjoyed our visit. The house is a capsule in time waiting to be explored. The art of decadence is alive and well as you explore the various rooms. Room guides are informative and only too willing to help. The grounds are designed by Capability Brown so far reaching vistas with trees, lake and plenty of grass.

Burton Constable is a fabulous property to visit. It is now owned & managed by a private trust, but still associated with the Constable family. The house is impressive, containing 100 rooms, although you can only walk through 32. The furniture, paintings, adornments etc, are very opulent, collected over several centuries. There has been a property here for 700 years. There is a large stable complex, plus an excellent cafe/tea room. Lancelot Capability Brown created a lot of the landscape & architecture. There is a beautiful lake which you can walk around, there are also picnic areas. You can purchase a yearly membership pass, if you do this, you will get back your entry fee. I thoroughly recommend a visit to this impressive property.

A beautiful grand country house with well furnished rooms, a very impressive long gallery and a sweeping staircase framing a wonderful entrance hall complete with an automated replica orange tree. The courtyard contains the skeleton of a sperm whale washed up on the beach in 1825! There are display rooms on the top floor of various curios collected by former owners. The room guides were extremely well informed, enthusiastic and eager and were an absolute delight.

We enjoyed a walk around the grounds and lake of Burton Constable Hall. More like a walk in the country than formal gardens. Nice coffee shop. Informative notice boards along the walk about the wildlife and the hall. We didn't go into the hall but I understand you can look round a large number of rooms.

Fantastic stately home, one of the finest examples anywhere in the country. Tickets are relatively cheap compared to other places with access to the house, grounds, stables, parklands and lake. The cafe is excellent with delicious food and very generous portions, can't fault it. The grounds are vast and well worth a walk around but it will take time and the house itself is huge and you can easily take two or three hours walking around it. It's well laid out and the route takes you through much of the downstairs and upstairs through bedrooms and parlor rooms each magnificently decorated. I implore you to talk to the guides that are in most rooms as it's fascinating to listen to them and you'll learn so much. A great day out if you're into Downton Abbey as this place will remind you of that. Thoroughly recommend visiting this home.

Just brilliant. A very wet day so was unable to walk the grounds, but the house and building are fantastic. Credit to the staff who work there. Friendly and very helpful.

Very quiet, lovely gardens and nice cafe although the cafe is very expensive so I recommend taking a picnic. There is a giant game of chess as well as a horse play area for toddlers. Currently doing arts and crafts every week for 6 weeks with different things on each week. This is included in the annual pass cost.

A fantastic place to visit, with beautiful historic Hall and ground that allows 40 minutes walk or a full 5 km trail.

What a fabulous afternoon. It was a wet day and we just googled things to do in the area and Burton Constable Hall popped up. So pleased we chose to come. Magnificent hall which is being carefully looked after. The staff and guides were well informed and so friendly and welcoming. The cafe as well was great, gorgeous cakes, good service. Overall a great day and highly recommended

We only went for a light lunch today, as my Dad was recovering from a serious illness. But we had a very pleasant and friendly service, and the toasted sandwiches went beyond expectations! I especially enjoyed the brie and cranberry one! And visiting from Australia, it was quite a novelty to have crisps (they call them chips down under!) On the side of the sandwich. Thank you for a pleasant time. :)

Very good place to visit, SO much to do, you will be here half a day at least if not longer. I would definitely recommend.

Lovely grounds and various routes to walk around . We had our dog with us so didn’t enter the house . Dogs on leads at all times which is understandable as lots of livestock and wildlife . We did the orange route 5k walk which was lovely , walked around the lake and then back round the house . Tea, coffee and yummy cake in the cafe . Beautifully looked after , clean and tidy . Spent a lovely 2 hours here on a bank holiday Monday .

A massive house and grounds with amazingly knowledgable staff. There was information about the family but it could’ve been put into more of a story and its recent use.
