Review The Tithe Barn - Cosby

Holly Bailey
The perfect breakfast spot for a bank holiday weekendšŸ³ā˜•ļø! Back in June, I visited The Tithe Barn for the first time. If you live in Leicester, thereā€™s no way you havenā€™t heard of this place or seen it on social media. Upon arrival, I was delighted by the appearance of the outside courtyard area and even more excited that we had booked to sit outside. We were shown to our table and given our menus. The waiter also directed our attention to the small device on the table which we could use to request service (among other options). What I had: ā€¢ Pork Breakfast Burger ā€¢ Extra Bacon ā€¢ Strawberry Smoothie ā€¢ Cappuccino The strawberry smoothieā€¦all I can say is WOW. I am still dreaming about it to this day. It was so yummy that I even contemplated ordering a second one. I would go back again solely for that drink. The breakfast burger was divine. All of the ingredients tasted so fresh. In terms of appearance, it doesnā€™t look very exciting, but it is packed with flavour. The hashbrowns were served alongside the burger, which I preferred as you could enjoy them separately. The reason for ordering extra bacon was due to it not being stated in the description of the burger on the menu, and me being a bacon lover had to have bacon! To then be served a burger with bacon in it was slightly surprising and quite annoying, as I had spent more money than needed simply due to an error on the menu. Just something to note when ordering. Anyway, after eating my burger and extra bacon, we decided to order a coffee to enjoy whilst taking in our surroundings and basking in the sun. The staff were very helpful, albeit not the most attentive. The prices were fair for what you get, considering it is an independent establishment. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and will definitely be visiting again.

This is a lovely old barn with seating in and outside in pleasant surroundings. Service and cleanliness were first class. Food was excellent too and they serve traditional British dishes overall. Their milkshakes are well regarded.

Food was good, service also very good. It did help that you have a mechanical buzzer machine to call for waiters to order, and pay your bill. S

This is a great for breakfast and lunch. Not open after that and closes about 5pm. The quality of food is really good here and the service pods on each table are a genius idea so that you can pres the required button when you need some service. The decor here is really good too with the original features of the barn being used. Definately recommend for a breakfast, brunch or lunch date.

Great little place, Second visit to this amazing little place, this time we had breakfast šŸ˜ we were told about and finally made a visit. The sandwiches are very good and filling. We are planning to go back for an early morning breakfast.. Definitely worth a visit here šŸ‘šŸ»

Food good, atmosphere good. Went during Cosby Yarn Bomb and they were very busy, hot and cold drinks came out after food and when we queried it we were told there was a backlog on the coffee machine which is fair enough. Area for improvement would be that I was breastfeeding and asked for water twice but it didn't arrive until the other drinks came, about 45 minutes into our visit.

A lovely decorated barn, very comfortable, with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard for those sunny days! We were served a superb breakfast, service was excellent. Coffeeā€™s were delicious. Owned by a kiwi, this place wonā€™t disappoint! Will be recommending to friends & family. Top marks from me, thanks :).

Lovely setting in the village. Was there with the wife at a market event the last of the summer. The village was buzzing because of the Yarn bomb so this did mean service was a bit slow for take away coffees. The food was well presented and a good choice. The breakfast looked brill. There was a good cake selection and my wife had the Vegan jaffa cake which was very nice she said. I can't recall name of mine but it was tasty and very chocolatey.

I really canā€™t understand the negative reviews of this place. Staff were attentive, welcoming and we were served a lovely breakfast in good time. Fresh ingredients, lovely coffee. Nothing was too much trouble. Look forward to returning! Keep Ip the good work. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø from all 5 of us. Thank you, itā€™s nice to have somewhere so nice to visit in Leicestershire.

A great place for a meal. We had brunch for four of us each one had a different item and each one was excellent even the bacon sandwich was very good. There was nothing left on any plate at the end. They are very good at catering for children. I would definitely recommend booking when itā€™s not warm enough to sit outside. As the inside is smallish and fills up very quickly. The prices are quite expensive but the quality of the food more than justifies the cost.

Lots of outside seating but because of weather sat inside on comfortable chairs and very clean. Service via a buzzer which was very quick and efficient. Food arrived quickly (all freshly made) and of a high standard. Will definitely recommend and return.

Fantastic place, staff friendly, who were very helpful. Great selection of food for a lunch menu. Food arrived quickly and was a good portion size, which tasted delicious. Looking forward to going back to have a breakfast. Definitely would recommend!

Mixed review about this place. I love the setting, it's beautiful and the food is delicious however the staff seem rushed and very keen to clear your table and hurry you off when it's nice to just relax and chat after a meal. The kids menu is way overpriced. For a "lunch box meal" we got one sandwich, a packet of crisps and a sliced apple. At Ā£5, this is poor value and then to add insult, we learned that a drink for my child is not included in the price so then had to pay a further Ā£2 for one carton of juice making my child's meal Ā£7; far too expensive for what we actually got. Additionally, the crayons and colouring came inside the lunch box, which is really unhelpful as kids need to be kept occupied whilst waiting for food, not when they receive the food. Its such a shame as you have a lovely menu x

My first visit yesterday. Lovely nice and clean business. Polite staff. Tea arrived and was drank befoe we got our lunch. Ordered baguettes and got something that was a shape of a croissant but bigger, however it was not very fresh. The accompined by a lot of leaves that was drowned in dressing. The platter that it was served on was not practical as was too small for what was placed on it. We decided to take home some cake. Unfortunately not much too choose from (2.30 pm ) . What i had was dry / over baked. ( fruit sponge cheese cake). I had high expectations and now disappointed. ļæ½

Lovely food and setting the only down side was looking forward to the piece of flapjack I took home, as to full to have dessert, only to find I was given the lemon & ginger flapjack instead of original, still very nice. So mayby label the deli counter a bit better so staff know which is which.

I went to the barn with my husband and daughter. I'd never been before but will definitely be going again. The chilled out atmosphere was lovely. The staff are so nice and relaxed nothing is to much trouble your not rushed with your meal which I would add was beautiful recommended the shared platter with the caramalised onion relish pizza (amazing). The setting is relaxed right next to the church perfect for a wedding reception. Loved it.

After visiting here 5 times I've decided it's time to write a review. As everytime I seem to visit there's always something that lets me down or annoys me which is a shame because the food is brilliant so no complaints to the chef at all here. It's the staff and waiting service. Everytime I walk in the door they greet us with "have you booked a table?" To me replying no (loads of empty tables) then every time I get a look of oh,, umm, like it's a big issue and I'm not welcome. It's happened now 3/5 times I've visited and the first time was with a large group so table was thankfully booked. It makes you feel uneasy about being welcomed in. Today then I ordered the farm lite breakfast and asked if I could swap the mushroom for the white pudding but if not I'd just add it on extra. He said no problem. Get my breakfast no mushroom but white pudding ļæ½ go up to pay at the till and they added Ā£1 for the pudding. I said oh.. but I got not mushroom?! So thought the swap was fine. Clearly the waiters error but did nothing to correct it! Poor service. The last time we went at 11 granted it was busy. It was a weekend and 11.15am they "ran out of breakfasts" fair enough but the couple who walked in right before us got one and I saw them walk past with a big tray of eggs. We would have been happy with simple eggs on toast. We ordered from the deli menu a panini and fries/salad. It took 45/50 mins from the time we ordered. Not 1 staff came up to apologise. I understand it's busy but the staff here let this place down. I will return because unfortunately the food is nice. But eventually it'll get to me to nothing improves. Such a shame for a good potential business.
