We came here on a Saturday afternoon and were blown away by the service and quality of food. The staff were amazing and attentive, the surroundings were cosy and welcoming and the food was unbelievable. One of the best meals we have eaten by far, and we will definitely be back in the near future!

Went there to have the tasting menu for my anniversary. The whole evening was fantastic, the food was sublime, the wines matched every dish perfectly and the service was second to none. Why they haven’t got a Michelin star is beyond me.

The food on the tasting menu was absolutely delicious and beautiful to behold. The staff were very knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and the open kitchen was a great feature. The atmosphere of the place was good too. Can't wait to return! Top marks!

The staff are amazing and we celebrated our anniversary here. We tried the taster menu with matching wine flight - lots of wild new flavours including rock oyster with spicy granita, venison with wild garlic and the most delicious crab tart course. We came, we saw, we ate...a lot. This was our second time here and we’ll definitely be back.

What a find. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere convivial and welcoming and staff were friendly and attentive. I believe its recently won awards for the best pub in the Vale and one of the best 100 pubs in the UK. Easy to see why. A gem.

Only been there for drinks in the bar so far, it reminds me of what pubs used to be like before they were taken over by pool tables, restaurants and wine bars. Superb atmosphere with no music drowning you out, just conversations all around. We'll definitely be back, especially as they are dog friendly, Charlie loved their home made pork scratchings.

Came here for the the fist time for a Sunday lunch (wont be the last). Delicious, freshly cooked, seasonal food in a cozy country pub setting. I had the Heritage tomatoes for starter, salt baked beetroot, sage and perl las gnocchi for main which was an outstanding veggie option followed by a love apple Soufflé for dessert (wow). My friend had the lamb dish which she said was perfect. Best meal i’ve had in ages, staff are friendly, great service, you can see why they hold a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. Worth every penny I’ll be back!.

Delicious, unpretentious and seasonal food made from locally sourced produce. The specials menu was interesting and the staff extremely knowledgable and friendly. Recommend to book lunch early as they had run out of some dishes by the time we ate at 3pm.

Quite honestly one of the best Sunday roasts I've had in my life. And I've had quite a few 😂 I had the beef shin and it was just so tender and full of flavour. We had sides and scallops and I can't fault anything. Excellent value, make sure you have a booking.

First visit to this gorgeous country pub & definately won't be the last! The Sunday lunch was amazing & the staff were super friendly. I was worried that the beef would be too pink for my liking but it was delicious! Can't wait to return!!

We didn't go inside, but the building was in keeping with the area and offered a variety of meals advertised on the notice board. It looked clean and set in an idyllic location.

The service was excellent with attendant waiting staff, the owner stopping to tell us about the food, quick drinks delivered to the table and our choice of table. Then the food came and our palates were spoilt for choice. The meat and fish were cooked to perfection and the sauces were subtle, tasty and delicious. Some of the veg choices did not entirely match but that is picking at extremely small nits! Finally the price was extremely reasonable for such amazing food and I would definitely visit again. It felt like a Michelin level experience. The area is also beautiful with clean air, ample space and preferable to the more upmarket Cowbridge. My fave was the crispy pig cheek which crunched and was soft in equal measure. My partner loved the beef which was delectably cooked and was accompanied with crispy potato and a rich jus. Try the produce and the fizz too I say!

Celebrated our first wedding anniversary here with an incredible meal. We had their three course Christmas menu and boy was it absolutely stunning! The service was incredible, and the staff were very attentive during our entire visit. It was also some of the best food I've had in my life, and definitely the best food I've had in Wales since living here! For a special occasion, the price wasn't as shocking as I had feared either. Altogether a lovely evening with memorable dishes and cosy atmosphere.

Excellent gastro pub which has been recommended by the Guide Michelin for numerous consecutive years. Beautiful culinary creations including their own take on the focaccia, malted sourdough bread and smoked butter, house made cured beef / aka "Bresaola", a cooked leek with ricotta, roasted walnuts and vinegar, rare-roast hanger steak with chips and salad and peppercorn sauce and their own Gnocchi with courgette, tomatoes and aubergine sauce base - delicious. To finish off, we had a raspberry bakewell tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream - and the price for all that including soft drinks: £72 for 2 adults. Just brilliant! Highly recommend and worth a detour if it's not on your direct route!
