Review The Old Dairy - Cranbrook

Spent a beautiful day here on my own. Arrived at just after 10am on a Sunday, so it was quick and easy to get in and park. I took the long purple route first, round the lake and the outskirts of the estate, very nice route, clearly signposted. The tower and gardens are beautiful. It's like a maze of cobbled footpaths, flowers and fragrance everywhere you turn. Simply beautiful.

A wonderful place to visit. Beautiful gardens, outstanding architecture and unusual history. Cafe, gift shop and market garden selling produce. The Priest House property is available on site to stay in for short breaks and have the opportunity to walk around the gardens in peace and quiet.

Another wonderful National Trust property (gardens) well maintained, full of history which the guides bring to life. I visited in September when the gardens were still full of late summer colour. Sissinghurst Castle Garden was created by Vita Sackville-West, poet and writer, and her husband Harold Nicolson, author and diplomat. It is among the most famous gardens in England. If you like NT properties and gardens, you won't be disappointed.

One of the most amazing gardens I've seen at a National Trust property! Gorgeous in July with so many flowers and shrubs. It has an interesting story as well. Oh and the vegetable garden is fantastic! They produced 5 or 6 tonnes of food for their restaurant last year. Truly well worth visiting for a whole day.

Absolutely lovely! We arrived late in the day, but an hour was enough time to climb the tower (gorgeous view) and wander through the gardens. Don't miss the vegetable garden and gift shop on your way out!

Limited access into buildings. Worth going into and up tower. Tours - we didn't do but I'm sure would be interesting. Various gardens, all beautiful, orchards, cottage, rockery, sensory, formal etc. Tearoom. Small nursery. Parking £4 for day. Access into house and gardens ticketed but surrounding walks and tearoom free. Dogs welcome in non ticketed areas.lively day out will return with dog for longer walks around.

Nicely laid out gardens. The gatehouse tower gives you great views across the countryside. £16p.p entrance plus £4 parking. Long driveway to parking. The main cafe is reasonably priced with outside and inside eating areas. As has the smaller cafe at the entrance. Do premium coffee and a variety of teas.

I came from California to see these gardens and it was well worth the trip. Any plant geek will love this place and find inspiration in the designs. The herbaceous borders were in full bloom and showed so much diversity. The vegetable garden is also not to be missed. Very healthy looking plants! Go see for yourself.

Sissinghurst has lovely gardens which are a pleasure to explore. The rooms you can enter give a fascinating glimpse of the last owner's mind. The restaurant provides tasty food from a short menu at a fair price. However there can be long queues. The grounds outside the gardens are fun to walk. The cafe near the entrance is a good place to stop on arrival or before leaving but not for lunch. The birds are extremely bold.

An interesting little "cottage" and Tower I say cottage but it is not as it was a part of the bigger building long since demolished. With strong links to Knole a vist to both recommended. With extended walks a good day out.
