Fish and chips by the sea. How can you beat it. Fantastic view upstairs. Good menu with everything you would expect with a great wine list. The chips were perfect and the fish servings were huge. Excellent service a great place for a meal in Cromer.

We booked No.1 Cromer last minute for 6 adults and 6 children to get some quick fish and chips. It’s more than just a fish bar. The food here is great and they have a wonderful menu. Nice and spacious, warm and friendly with spectacular views of Cromer pier. We would definitely return for more. The children loved the chips served with a bucket and spade each. The fish was beautifully cooked and very fresh. Thank you

Absolutely perfect fish and chips. Incredible portions with stunning views over the sea, beach and pier. Swift service and everything is prepared fresh to order. Melt in the mouth chips, crispy battered fish. Gherkins, onions a bit small for the price. Ice cream bar including banana splits! Friendly service.

Visited with my girlfriend on a Monday evening. We visited Mary Jane's the previous evening on a friend's enthusiastic recommendation. It was decent enough but then we tried No.1. No.1 surpasses them easily. Crispy batter on the boneless & skinless cod. Chips were a good deal better also, offering a much tastier and less oily experience. Our appetites were suitably satisfied and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Salt & vinegar came in sachets which I found peculiar but otherwise an excellent takeaway. "Small Chips" are to be taken literally, enough for a portion but not to share.

Bumpy start waiting 15 mins for drinks and a further 45 mins for mains. People who'd came in after us were already finishing up and leaving. Lipstick on cup. And avoid the Seasonal Ale, tasted like tobacco. Otherwise the food was great, the staff very friendly and the view was excellent overlooking the Pier

What a wonderful place. The food is superb. Second time I have been and just as good. Service is excellent. Staff are so lovely. Had the fish and chips with the tartrate sauce. Salted caramel ice cream for dessert. 100% recommend.

Well, I love Fish and chips, as do most of the country, so when I was completely disappointed with Eric's after giving it such a good review, I thought I'd try No.1 Cromer. This turned out to be a great decision, Beautiful starter of prawns and popcorn cockles and the crispy cod and chips was fantastic, This upstairs at No.1 has got to be one of the great places to dine for this type of meal and the views are really good over the shore and pier. all in all a great afternoon.

Lovely place with lovely views. We made a booking, with it being bank holiday and the coast always a favourite. We had haddock and chips and cod and chips, cooked to perfection. Staff were lovely too! Brilliant place for fish and chips with a beautiful sea view. Highly recommend and will come back again.

This is not my first review of No.1 (and more important people, like Jay Rayner, have written about it in the press). But I am happy to see the Upstairs maintains a very high standard of food and ambiance. To be clear: the No 1 has also a takeaway, and a downstairs seating, but both are ordinary (decent) fish and chippers. The Upstairs is a real restaurant, of excellent quality (even though we always ask for their fish and chips, when we visit - because these are extraordinary). The full menu is rich of many other attractive things, from large Surf and Turf, Fish Platter, to small soft shell crab starter. Worth a visit, but should pre-book in the busy summer time.

Lovely restaurant, food was great and came quickly. It does get pretty busy so I suggest booking or preparing to wait. Especially with a large party.

£3.50 for 3 scoops of ice cream is a good deal compared to other ice cream places in Norfolk which are at least £3.50 for just 2 scoops. The flavours to choose from aren't vast and they don't have all of the flavours advertised on their board available, which is a shame. But the ones I did try were really nice and you get a decent portion too. My favourites were the blueberries & cream and rhubarb & custard - would definitely recommend!
