Had a lovely Sunday lunch today. Pate and pulled pork croquettes to start, roast beef and 3 little pigs medley then apple and rhubarb crumble. Everything was delicious and very generous portions also good value for money. The staff were very welcoming and it was cosy with the log burners on. We did laugh when the crumble came out with the Pyrex jug of custard, a yummy homely touch. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes on offer.

When the weather has been as inclement as it has been recently, and you're in a far flung corner of the county. It's good to know there are these havens of warmth, friendliness and proper grub dotted around. There's nothing better than coming back from a walk as the light fades on a wet day, than seeing a log fire burning through a condensated window and the promising smell of a fine feast. And once you enter the threshold you are not disappointed. Fine ales abound and a merry atmosphere envelopes you. Bringing back memories of being a young child in your mother's arms. Table sizes to suit the group you're in . And a simple menu with something for everyone. All cooked to perfection. We shall be back.

Popped in after a walk in the lakes and they managed to squeeze us in on a table. The service was spot on, never without food or a drink. The Sunday roast was great, we had lamb and the Yorkshire pudding was lovely. The sticky toffee pudding was really rich and tasty, more than enough to share. Would definitely return. Very reasonably priced.

Went in for dinner recently. Had the Vegetarian mozzarella burger and the beef brisket. Both absolutely cooked to perfection and on one.of.the best vegetarian burgers I have ever had. Portion sizes were fantastic too. The chocolate fudge cake dessert was lovely and moist too. Staff attentive and polite, the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Would highly recommend. Lovely decor, friendly staff, great menu with vegetarian and gluten-free options, super tasty food and big portions. The jug of custard to accompany our crumble was the perfect end to the evening. Family friendly, and really nice atmosphere. Can't imagine you'd find a better pub in the Cumbria to enjoy an evening in.

Lovely little country pub. Sunday Lunch was fantastic, great portions without being excessively huge and well priced. Friendly vibe for 'outsiders', no one eyeing you up when you come in the door and some great local walks too. Very highly recommended.

What a great venue! Stopped in this evening after a long hard day's work for some real food! And the food was top notch, great chef and menu. Definitely worth visiting this village and popping in to the butchers arms! Great job with this place, what a gem.

A pub with local and contemporary character - in a beautiful village with a caring community. Traditional Sunday lunch could not have been better (half portion photographed - full had double meat and delicious roast potatoes) - congrats to the team!

Off the beaten track for a lunchtime visit on Friday, both log burners we're blazing on a cold winter day. The fish and chips were simply the best I've ever had, anywhere!

I can't believe this is pub grub, it's the best I've ever had! The food is like you're being served in a popular restaurant. I had the plant burger, oh my! It's the best plant burger I've ever had! My partner thoroughly enjoyed his meat burger too. The food and service here is definitely worth raving about.

Popped in for dinner here with family that lived in the area. Was busy, but this didn't affect the friendly atmosphere or the excellent pace at which the staff kept the drinks and food flowing. Food was excellent, everyone was very pleased with their meal.Staff were very attentive, wonderfully patient with our kids and provided a colouring book and pens for our daughter. This resulted in her colouring pictures for a couple of the staff which the manager didn't hesitate to pin up on the wall, much to our daughters enjoyment. Superb experience all round. Will be going back when I'm next down!

Had the most delicious food here ....fish pie to die for....I had to force myself from finishing it because I was so full! The rib eye, kids steak, and fish and chips were amazing too. Tried to go again 2 days later but fully booked (not surprising)...would highly recommend. Staff were really lovely too.
