Quite expensive now but the quality is better than it used to be, and as long as you go on a weekday the cakes and buns are probably better than you'll get in Chinatown. Weirdly the weekend bakers aren't as good. You can get yesterday's buns at a cheap price as well, they will bag them and sell them the next day. Don't expect English customer service i.e. fake smiles all the time. The ladies in here are not English - they will treat you the way an East Asian mum would! That is, ask what you want, take the money, end transaction. It's not unfriendly but it's not like they're trying to be besties either. I think they prefer mask wearing right now but not sure it's compulsory for service. The time people here are moaning about bein told to leave was during the pandemic and there was a huge sign on the door saying "two people at a time" so... Maybe read signs 😂

They've got most classic Chinese pastries you know of, have been getting food from here for years now. As per usual, very tasty, friendly staff, pretty cakes, and they also do bubble tea! But not like milky tea, the popping bubbles tea :p

One of the best Chinese bakeries. Everything is made on the day and always fresh. Authentic baked goods that have never disappointed. You can even get discounts, either multi-buy or simply because it's the end of the day. Occasionally leftovers from the previous day are available at half price too. Try the pork buns for lunch or afternoon snack, or coconut cream rolls as a sweet alternative. Lotus or red bean paste tray bakes are packed full of flavour, or you can try moon cakes. In the summer there is soy bean drink and fresh tofu as well. All at priced at £1-£2.

I always visit when at Wing Yip, great array of Chinese style cakes, buns, custard tarts, char Sui etc. One slight criticism I would love to see more Fruit in the fruit buns!
