Awesome local chippy. Family run and very friendly and helpful staff. Ordered medium cod and large portion of chips. Portions are generous, the chips are proper "fish and chip" style. Fish was excellent, batter is thin and crispy. Staff change the oil each day. Quality of the food is great and would recommend
We held a charity quiz night last night for over 60 people and so enjoyed our fish and chips delivery. A big thank you for making our evening such a success.
Beat Fish and Chips I’ve had for miles around. We sat in and ate and the service was very good, even gave us a few chips while we waited for our order. Nothing was too much trouble for the guys serving us. Had a little side plate with sauces, lemon and gherkins also. Will definitely be back!!
What great value fish and chips! A very large crispy fresh piece of cod with a light batter and a huge portion of chips served with home made tartare sauce two pieces of gherkins and a wedge of lemon all for £8:00 wow it was delicious!
Oh and the service is with a smile 🙂

The best fish and chips in South London bar none. They just recently refurbished the place after maintaining the same interior since 1963 and it's simply stunning. You cannot go wrong here. A true gem within Croydon.
Ordered gluten-free fish and chips for all my party even though only one of us needs it but thought it would just make things simpler. I have to say we, on regular non-gf diets, found absolutely no difference in taste or quality and in fact we were able to rate our meal as one of the best fish and chip experiences we've had. We all agreed... crisp, fresh and non-greasy... massive portions, chips with actual flavour, and both lemon and a portion of delicious home-made tartar sauce (I'm not usually a fan but this made me a convert for the real deal) all included in the very reasonable price. Super friendly, polite service topped it off. Our new go-to place!
First time visit today, served by two polite young men, I just want to say thank you, everything was cooked fresh, I did however order too many chips but they did warn me but I insisted lol. Enjoyed everything, nothing greasy and generous portions. Big ups 5* food and customer service. Oh and everything piping hot. 😊
Last year I came to town and I had fish and chips from this shop and I've been thinking about it ever since. And now I'm so glad I moved to this area, and the quality is even better, with professional serving and a beautiful interior.
I've set this up on my weekly menu, twice a week fish and chips from castellas fish and chips, an excellent shop in the whole of the UK, France, Spain, Greece.
Wherever in the world there is an ocean, they need to come and learn from this gentleman.

Wow! The food at Castella's was amazing. We bought fish & chips for my Nan's 88th birthday, and she's typically very fussy, but we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were really impressed with the generous portion sizes. The service was also excellent – The gentleman who served me was very friendly and even gave me a couple of chips while I waited. I'll definitely be back to Castellas :)
I’ve eaten fish and chips all over the UK, in some of the best chippy’s around, and can honestly say Castella is up there with the best!
A real gem that should be acknowledged for its amazing batter and lovely fish. Not sure what their recipe is for batter, but it’s so light and crispy and not at all great, it’s more like matzo or breadcrumbs, but has the taste of batter. It’s absolutely delicious! Chips always hot and fresh too.
If you want to sit in and eat, they give you proper cutlery too. Such a fantastic place to get delicious fish and chips.
And the original decor and signage just makes it even more special! Love it. ❤️
