Review The Thistle Inn - Cumnock

Lovely staff great food at reasonable prices

Ate here on several nights during a recent trip to Cumnock - apparently under new management since Autumn 2022. Had a different meal every time, and all were excellent. Great example of keeping a small menu and doing everything right. A very nice quiet wee pub with a very pleasant indoor dining area with around ten tables. Recommend booking ahead at the weekend, as you may not get a seat.

The staff are very gracious and accommodating. The food is amazing and our room was clean, modern and spacious. There is lovely personal touches too. Nothing is too much trouble and we had a ball. Castle Douglas is just down the road and A75 to explore further. We'll be back for sure!! 😊

We both really enjoyed our meal at The Thistle Inn. The portions were plentiful. We were really pleased to get a decent amount of veg with our food too. Desserts were tasty, and we were happy overall. The only complaints I had was that we waited quite a long time to be served our drinks. We'd already finished our starters before being served our drinks, and the disabled toilet was of no use whatsoever to any disabled person. It was being used as a storeroom, and was so full of dining chairs, you couldn't possibly get from the door to the toilet. Apart from that, we will go back again, due to the delicious food 😋 Compliments to the Chef.

I could not rave about The Thistle Inn enough! The service was unbelievably amazing, the food was spectacular and the atmosphere was perfection. Our waiter set us up by the fire pit after our meal and took a small group to the bar to hand select some scotch. All of the staff were so friendly and our did every expectation we had. We cannot wait to go back!

Haven't had a sit in meal yet (have had excellent deliveries though) - heard good reports though. Went for a drink and games of pool with a mate.

Great food & drinks at good prices!! Staff are friendly & helpful.. Fantastic for almost any occasion.. 👍 Back in recently for my sons birthday, & we all had a fantastic meal & lovely dessert, which I couldn't manage at that time as I was so full from my main of a featherblade of beef which was beautifully done!! But they gave me my sundae home, which I enjoyed later that night, thanks folks!!

As always a very comfortable stay our room was tastfully decorated very clean and most importantly a cosy bed. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The menu catered for everyone which was tasty. We will be back at New year.

Went to a gender reveal here today. The buffet was excellent and the owner went beyond in getting me a strong coffee . Thank you . Staff were lovely.

Place is decent value, and gives good portions. Food is mostly pretty good quality and you can tell it's mostly homemade. I have had odd things that ain't worked out as well but that's like most places eh when you've eaten in them occasionally over best part of a decade eh? Beer selection isn't great., Staff are very good and helpful All in a good value place to eat decent grub

Meal was fabulous, room needs updating but we knew this and it was fine. Staff really friendly.

Every part of the experience was great. Food delicious - portions plentiful. Menu varied. You are bound to get something that suits your taste buds.

We tried for 1st time last week and ordering takeaway tonight.. Food is lovely and plenty of it too. Waitress was very nice and attentive just what you want. All other takeaways in the area are rubbish. We will defo be back here... Can't wait till summer
