We randomly stopped at this lovely country pub on Sunday lunch time and was extremely lucky to get a table as it started to fill quickly. The staff were wonderful and very helpful and polite. Beautiful cosy decor and the food........well we were amazed. I had the pork roast. Was seriously scrummy and the portion size was great. We love our food so to be unable to finish a meal was shocking hahaha. My toddler had the children's sausage, mash and peas. That was the size of a normal meal. Quality food. I had to try the profiteroles pudding even though I was stuffed and it was sooooo good. Will definitely be going again. Was also lovely that dogs were welcome in a part of the bar aswel. Had yet another great meal at the anchor - well worth a visit. I always go for the dishes on the specials board behind the bar and they never disappoint.

Perfect setting for a drink and an evening meal good selection of food at a reasonable price all food cooked to order we had steak pie and steak and kidney pudding both came with a selection of fresh vegetables and choice of potatoes
There were no words to describe my meal!!! Was amazing! Kids were happy with their food too! Great company too! A great time and food was had by all!!
Had a delicious Sunday lunch with family. Three of us had the roast and one chilli and rice. Everything arrived piping hot and the portions were extremely generous. Lovely selection of fresh vegatables, more than enough for all of us. It was very busy but the service was excellent. Friendly efficient staff who brought our meals very quickly and took the time to check we were happy with everything. We will certainly be returning.

Every visit so far has always been excellent food and great service. A large and varied regular menu choice with an additional large selection of ‘specials’ too! All year round beautiful flowers upon approach to the entrance. Warm and pleasant interior with plenty of character, will definitely continue to return.
Had lunch here today. We had our dog with us and due to the weather we were pleased we could eat inside. Staff very friendly and accommodating making a fuss of our dog! Great selection of veggie food the veggie shepherds pie was lovely and even the dog got a treat. Will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful looking pub in the countryside. Had a date night and was delighted by the fish. We had whitebait and salmon to start followed by delicate Plaice and flavourful haddock with the most crispy batter. Great for summer outdoor eating with all the fairy lights and kids playground. 9/10
Having lived in maldon for nearly 8 years I swear to visit this lovely looking pub atleast once a week, well today was the day, I was unsure how our slight del boy accents and non country attire would fair but I have to say this place is CUSHTY, food was absolutely bang on, atmosphere was lovely as was the staff, and the flowers, well bonnet de douche.
Couple of reviews mention pricing, I must say I thought it was dead reasonable. Proper food cheaper than a brief case without a code, in 2023 I'm a pleased man.

Very cute pub with nice seating outside. Service was friendly and there are some interesting options on the menu, check the specials on the blackboard inside. Generous portions. 4 stars only cause of quite generic beer selection.
Nice welcome from front of house for a booked meal. Well kept pint of Ghost ship beforehand. Service overall was spot on and food was served by communicative and charming staff. Food was excellent, having fillet of salmon with Tuscan sauce, new potatoes and peas. Banoffee pie for dessert was very tasty. Very enjoyable evening, will definitely visit again, and recommend. 👍
Lovely old country pub with tastefully constructed extension housing the restaurant section. Service was first class and food quality high. The pub is clearly popular as even attending midweek for lunch it was well filled with people. Not uncomfortably crowded but enough to create a lovely atmosphere. Good selection of options on the menu plus plenty of specials on the chalk board to cater for most tastes. Will definitely recommend.

Me and two friends booked a table here on a Sunday. First time being here, It's a really nice pub! The starters were large quantities for a great price, however due to the quantity being big, my friends weren't happy as they now didn't know if they were going to be able to get through their main meal and we were too full up, to be able to get a dessert.
I really enjoyed the food, Sunday Roast Beef dinner was so nice to eat, very filling, it's what I was mostly looking forward to after seeing other people's photos on here. I would say that this place needs to invest in sharper knives, I couldn't even cut through a potato with them and when we ordered the second drinks when they asked us. They forgot about it and we ended up needing to ask them again, then the drinks arrived way after we had already eaten our main meal. It wasn't even busy at all there. Overall, I would still come back here again at some point as the food was still great and the place looked nice, the staff were also very polite.

We stopped at The Anchor after spending the afternoon on the River Chelmer near Paper Mill Lock. We had the Breaded Brie, Potato Wedges, Haddock with chips, Sea Bass, cheesecake and a cheese platter and I have to say it was absolutely brilliant. The staff were wonderful and very helpful and the pub was busy, but not overly so. Dogs are very welcome here as well. We will be going back there again.
Lovely place and really good food. Team is amazing and very customer focused and courteous.
We went there as a family and enjoyed a fulsome lunch. I topped it with some dessert.
There is indoor and outdoor seating when weather is good.

Our family have been visiting the Anchor Danbury for many years. If you want a guarantee of great tasting food every time you visit, then this is the place for you. Wonderful friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings and most importantly dog friendly. If you want to eat and have a dog book your table for the dog area by calling first. 10/10

Had lunch out with friends who recommended the anchor, last time we came here with friends, the landlord kicked our friends out into the pouring rain while waiting for a taxi, heard it had changed hands.
Staff pleasant and attentive, menu while small had something for everyone.
Portions ok, food ok, friend's enjoyed it that's what counts, might get back again but competition is really good in the area.
