We had a 2 night stay, our room was good with fabulous views. I certainly wasn't happy that we had to struggle to get a table for a meal just because we have dogs. Seat's definitely not comfortable and table not big enough for 4 adults and all plates etc. Some meals rather odd. Most of staff lovely and helpful. Can't 1 side of dining room be dog friendly as mostly unused on an evening

Lovely little place with excellent views. Food was delicious, rooms were very nice and the staff went above and beyond looking after my grandad who took a tumble.

Stayed 2 nights as we were attending a wedding locally. Extremely friendly staff who were always willing to help with any question or issue. Super food and a great menu with plenty of choice. Lovely breakfast. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I marked the room down slightly only because our room could have done with a little more storage/hanging - but its a minor point. If you are in the area (wedding at Danby Castle) would highly recommend staying here.

A truly fantastic experience We walked from Commondale just to enjoy our lunch here. We were lucky that we called on a quiet midweek lunch time. Food (we both had Fish and Chips) was superb, large portions (no room for dessert) Sincere friendly welcome and service for the humans and the Spaniels. Plan a ahead and enjoy the lovely countryside and great food and service. Just revisited again today with the full family and Spaniels- bar full not they found space for us in another room - service friendly, helpful and nothing too much trouble- food all 6 of us really enjoyed our meals - excellent ingredients and very well cooked and presented. Will continue to return

Wow. Fantastic pub. Called into this pub for lunch. Staff were very friendly and cheerful. The ambience was great. The menu had an excellent choice. I had beef and ale pie. My wife had fish and chips. Both were superb. For pudding, Maggie had blueberry cheesecake with pouring cream. I had a fabulous lemon posset to die for. Two coffee's were brilliant as well. A fabulous find. When we visit the north Yorkshire Moors again, we shall stay here.

Nice friendly pub. Unfortunately short staffed because of snow so service and food were a little disappointing but will try again. .

We booked in to one of the huts out back and it was amazing. The facilities were wonderful hot showers and clean bathrooms. The kitchenette had everything we needed kettle microwave tea and coffee station. The food in the pub was wonderful and having a room that was dog friendly to eat was perfect. Breakfast was okay but for the price I would have liked it to have been a bit easier to navigate.

We were made to feel very welcome here. The staff were lovely and excellent for providing information about the area. This was our first holiday with our dog and we were a bit nervous about it but the Fox and Hounds turned out to be a great spot for Jeff and he had no problem settling in. The room itself could do with some updating but as it is an old building and the bed was very comfortable, we weren't too fussed. It was a little noisy in the mornings as you could hear other guests and the staff moving around. We could eat our dinner and breakfast in the pub with the dog which was very handy. The dinner options were vast in terms of choice and very hearty but slightly overpriced so we only ate there on one of our evenings. Breakfasts we felt were much stronger although we would have liked a wider selection with the continental buffet and perhaps some more options with the cooked breakfasts. We had some difficulty with cleaning Jeff after our rather wet walks. There is no shelter outside so when we tried to dry Jeff before taking him in, it was near impossible. Overall, this is a lovely spot to explore the North Yorkshire countryside and we'd be happy to return when the weather improves!

first time for us in a pod, it was good value for money & a lot easier than pitching our tent somewhere for two nights. The pod was quite cosy & clean, we took our own lamp & cool box after reading other reviews which was a good call. The location is peaceful and quiet with lovely views, nearby cattle & wildlife to see. The area has little light pollution so good for star gazing. The wi fi was a bit hit & miss but worked better if we sat in the doorway to the pod & no problem in the inn. There are 4 pods and 4 nearby showers/toilets, it would have been nice if the showers were allocated per pod with the name on the door to save on cleaning & a mop in the showers would have been handy, it was a bit daunting venturing out to make a visit in the night but the area is well lit. The kitchen adjacent to the showers had a kettle, microwave & some single milks, cutlery etc. The food in the pub was amazing in our opinion and good value for money, Lovely atmosphere & quite popular, lovely helpful staff & very dog friendly, the locals also very friendly. We drove to staithes and saltburn for the day about 7 miles away & it was nice to return to the welcome of the inn & our cosy pod, would recommend, we had a lovely stay.

Clean, modern and comfortable room. Very reasonably priced as well. Food was delicious and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was spotless on arrival and was cleaned to perfection every day of our stay. Staying here was a highlight of our trip in the UK and we would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone. Honestly can't say enough good things about the property, room, staff, and food. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the North Yorkshire Moors, look no further and stay here.

Food was really nice, we both got the fish and chips and it was huge! The tartar sauce was so fresh, sharp and creamy. The camping pod was gorgeous and very spacious for the type of pod. Amazingly quiet on the night time and a perfect spot for stargazing. Star Maps and red-light torches are available from the pub too!
