The Hive Darlington

Lovely food with a few gluten free options. I thoroughly enjoyed my corn and fritters and salad. Enough on my plate so I was not hungry. Downside bathroom is in a hall across the road. Lovely setting opposite a park, oval and tennis courts. Great spot to bring kids as there is a playground. They shut at 2pm on Saturday, so you need to get there early. However they open again at 5pm selling pizzas. Filed away in my favourites.

After passing this cafe on many occasions, my mother and I decided that we must give this cafe a try as the appearance of this cafe appeared to be very homely. However the day and time we chose to attend this cafe turned out to be close to closing time. After inquiring whether or not it was too late for a drink and being told it was ok to order what we wanted, we ordered a hot chocolate and cappuccino and a slice each of cheesecake. The staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than dealing with customers, and the counter where you gave your orders was sticky and filthy to the touch. Although the hot chocolate and cappuccino were nice, we were served a cheesecake without any forks or serviettes so we had to use the spoons that came with our drinks. The staff were somewhat dismissive and not at all attentive. This place is not recommended do yourself a favour go somewhere else.

Perrella's did the most AMAZING catering for my wedding. They go above and beyond to make the food delicious and beautiful - truly, the food is a real talking point at any special event. Perrella's did bread and antipasto baskets, a dessert grazing table and our three-tier lemon wedding cake and WOW it all looked and tasted unbelievably good. Thanks so much!!! <3
