The absolute best pizza and loveliest staff by a country mile! Try it, you'll love it!

Went there with my family. It was my third visit. Even though it was early evening, there were a lot of customers there, so it’s best to book. The pizzas were fabulous and large and there was a good range on the menu. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you can’t eat it all, ask for a ‘doggy bag’.
The only slight disappointment was the time it took to get the bill as my grandchildren were getting a little restless. If it were not for this I’d have given 5 stars all round.

What to say of the best pizza place on UK since 2018?
Stunning atmosphere, unbelievable flavours in a box with crunchy dough, staff is lovely, friendly and always happy to smile and help.
Spotless place and beautiful decorations.
Highly recommend!

Excellent food, great service. Prepared a lovely gluten free pizza for me. It was so nice. Will definitely go again when in Darlington.

Food was excellent, they were very busy so service was a little slower but nothing significant. Nice cosy atmosphere. Not too expensive either

Turned up on the off chance they had a table. They managed to squeeze us in. Brilliant service, all the staff were friendly and acknowledged us. Pizza was gorgeous, we both had the Antonia with figs. Lovely evening, fantastic restaurant. Keep coming back.

First night out in a long while and it was absolutely fantastic, food was delicious and the perfect gap between courses so we could enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and the fire from the pizza oven made the whole place smell amazing.
Service was superb, the gentleman waiter was knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The gins were perfectly made and were one of the best gins I've had. Pizzas were lovely and the antipasti dishes were to die for.
Might have to make this our regular date night restaurant! Either way we definitely plan to return.

Award winning pizza. What does this mean? Fantastic flavour, crafmanship and service. Great selecion of ingredients, wine list and desserts. Friendly staff and open kitchen.
5 stars, would give more if I had the option.

Delicious authentic made pizzas. Pre-lockdown experience guaranteed 👌 prep your taste buds.
Crew was very supportive. Chef was trying to communicate while cooking. Amazing experiance overall.

Atmosphere was really nice and the staff were really welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, and very accommodating to my friend who had her young baby with her. Points for being baby friendly and having a changing table in the toilet! It was very busy and there only seemed to be 1 server so service was a bit slow, but we didn't mind too much.
Food was very tasty and full of flavour, I was a little disappointed with just how much oil was on the pizza though. Between the olive oil and the oil released from the melting cheese it was just a bit too much. Which was a shame as the flavours were lush.
And dessert was amazing and the gelato to die for! We had the bergamot and gin cake with pistachio gelato. And it was lush!
Would definitely recommend you go, it would have been 5 stars had there been a little less oil on the pizza.

Great food. Absolutely recommended. The place serves the best pizzas I've ever had

Just tried the place with my husband last week. Nice place with wood fired oven pizzas. Nice relaxed atmosphere and simple clean decor. I felt the staff and service was a little slow to begin but they picked up the pace later. We tried the sharing platter for the starters, the arrancini and potato croquettes was delicious but the zuccini flowers were just a bit soggy n oily for my taste. However the pizzas were superb! Best pizza I have had in a really long time! Thin Itallian base and the sauce is simply superb! And the leopard print crusts looks gorgeous. But we both were so full from the starters n pizzas that we missed out on dessert so thats something for next time! We had a great time at Stable Hearth and will visit again for sure.

Dodgy table by the bar which kept wobbling. Got a move to a nice window table. Service was a bit slow but the pizza was good. Can't really do a bad one to be honest. Paid by card and was a bit put off by the asking for a percentage tip which I find very offending. As a result of that I declined the request and didn't leave a tip at all. I thought £80 plus for 3 people with wine was more than enough. Not good enough to go back. I know there are overheads etc but being a pensioner I felt a bit ripped off to be honest. We'll not be back.

Didn't book but got a table ,this place is very popular, the food is amazing and a good choice of food ,

DISAPPOINTED
After previously been to Stable Health whilst it was still at Gainford on numerous occasions after riding at Hamsterley I attended the restaurant at Darlington after finding out during the week they had moved. Whilst I’d consider the gainford pizza to be a little on the expensive side for a takeaway.. I was more than happy to pay after my first taste because they where amazing and had some very interesting topping options. So I was shocked to find the pizza so very different today at the restaurant. The pizza was more expensive but appear slightly smaller (that I can deal with when you get quality food) but both the pizzas served, where burnt.. and tasted so. I spoke to the waitress who was very polite and she took them away. Next the chef came and asked if there was a problem... ignoring the fact I’d already explained to the waitress the issue.. I had to re explain myself to be told that the ‘burnt’ is the proper Italian style as the have a proper Italian oven that’s 100 degrees hotter than what was used at the takeaway in Gainford. Now Iv eaten ‘proper’ Italian pizzas, both from authentic pizza ovens in this country as well as Italy... the last time of which was 2017 in Viaraggio. At no point have I been served a pizza as charred as this and been told it’s the style. Nor have the few in Italy that where darker around the edge ever actually tasted burnt. The chef then agreed to re make them.. stating they will be no different but can do them lighter. (Came across as rather rude almost as if I was personally questioning his abilities) My friends turned up pretty much how I’d expect a pizza to be, but mine was just as bad.. of not slightly worse. To finish matters off it had a very soggy base due to been very thin but using too much tomato as a base. By this point I gave up.. ate as much of the centre and a small part of the edge and left the rest (finished by my friend who couldn’t wait the 2hr drive home to eat after spending 6hrs biking)
Pretty gutted really as I looked forward to the pizza as much as the mountain biking when I come up this way. Now to find another eatary.
Ps.. I’d post a pic if I could but there doesn’t seem to be an option. Though rather shockingly.. the pics posted by them on here also have the heavily burnt crusts. It’s not really a pizza if you have to throw half of it away.

Called in for tea on a Wednesday night and managed to squeeze us in between bookings. The place was very busy and I would recommend you book so not to be disappointed. The place has a very relaxed atmosphere the staff are very friendly and polite. Great selection of wine and beer and the pizza is cooked in a wood fired oven and tastes amazing. An absolute credit to the owners and hopefully a business that will flourish as the food is fantastic. Good luck and look forward to eating there again.

Perfect pizza. Impeccable service. Chips from heaven. What an outstanding place. This isn't just another pizza place. This is the best pizza restaurant by far. The attention to the detail on all the ingredients is astonishing. I've got a feeling this place is going to be busy busy busy. Well done.

Eaten here 3 times now and it seems to get better and better each time!
The Cor Blimey pizza is absolutely delicious, pizza is my favourite food and nothing compares to this!
Staff are so friendly and prices very reasonable, best place to eat in Darlington by far!

The service was fantastic and the food amazing. Nothing in Darlington can come close to this for both of the above. My Red wine was good too

Tried this place for the first time last night as I'm new to Darlington and all I can say is wow!!! Food is amazing pizzas remind me of being back in Italy and in fact are better than some of the pizzas we had there!!! Really good choice and the staff in this place are lovely, very friendly and you can see they are passionate about what they do which is refreshing!!! Also noticed they do gluten free options which are not really advertised but should be my mother in law has coeliacs disease and is now very excited to try this place knowing it caters for her! Plus the chips are amazing!!! Will defo be back!!! Well done to this place, it's really hard to To find a nice pizza in Darlington but think this place wins hands down as the pizzas are perfect! Can't wait to work my way through the menu!!!

Came to Stable Hearth for the first time last night with 2 of my girlfriend's. The pizzas were beautiful! I'm gluten free so at times, find it hard to get anything tasty and a bread that doesn't resemble cardboard!!, being gluten free is so difficult at times. However, not here! The gluten free pizza base was beautiful. Thank you, I'll definitely be back

We went last night on the off chance we could get a table and to our surprise despite the place being absolutely full, the waiter said we could eat at the bar if we were happy to do that. We certainly were more than happy to sit at the bar, it was really nice chatting to the barman and having a relaxed dinner. We had the sharing plate for starter which was amazing, and then pizzas (obviously) for main. Best pizzas around, I can tell you this much. Plus fantastic value for money I would definitely recommend eating here! 5 stars all day long

Proper tip top pizza as good as any I had in Italy.
Finally a real deal pizza joint in Darlington, I very much doubt I'll ever order from anywhere else now.
Allison Hutchings
We had lunch for 5 yesterday. We loved it! Staff very friendly and accommodating. Proper artisan pizza dough with amazing toppings. So pleased to find you in the centre of town now as Gainford was a bit of a trek (but still worth it!). Wishing you lots of luck - sure you won’t need it!

First visit tonight and and it will surely be the first of many. Without a doubt the best pizza dough! Such kind guys and really know what they're doing. One of the highlights was the special Dumfries pizza. Who knew haggis was what a pizza has always wanted? Arancini was better than we've had in Italy and the hand cut chips were perfectly done. Mafioso and Neapolitan pizzas were stunning and had high quality ingredients that complimented each other well. Top marks for a great meal!

I don’t normally write reviews as I think people should experience things themselves and not be influenced by other peoples views but What a little gem Darlington has just received in stable hearth. Who would of thought going out for abit of pizza with the wife could be so good. The staff where great managing to Shoe horn us in last min, without any fuss, the atmosphere was so laid back and friendly and although been asked to bare with as they’ve just opened and still finding their feet the night went without any hiccups. The food was even better!! Not a crumb left
Duncan Small
Popped down to Gainford this afternoon, and had pizza at the Stable Hearth. The Cor Blimey had a great bite from the olive and chilli tapanard. The special Clouds over Etna also hit the spot. Lovely wood fired fresh base. Well worth the trip, excellent food.
Pete Hall
Best pizza we've had in a long time and easily the best pizza in Darlington. Some of the staff are still finding their feet but they all went out of their way to make sure we had a good meal.
Kelly Robson
Managed to get a table last minute, all the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The tables were all full and there was a wait for the food but everything is fresh and worth the wait. Can’t wait to go back
Emma Bramley
The best pizza ive tasted and the courgette flowers are to die for! The only place outside of italy ive been able to get them!
Matt Collins
Another lovely meal, you can’t argue with the wood fire pizza! Staff friendly but you have to work hard to wave them down. But well worth the visit, always look forward to it.
