Review The Crown & Tuns - Deddington

This used to be an amazing pie place with so many different types of pie on offer. Revisited recently, but management had changed. There was still tasty pie on offer, but it was nothing like before. Pie itself was great, but the veggie and sides were bland. Small portion and the veg was just boiled!

Easily the best and best value roast dinner in the area. £20 for two courses of freshly cooked food. Not prepackaged and mass produced from a chain pub. Good portion size. Actual roast potatoes (cooked in duck fat) unlike most other places. Childrens' portion also available and excellent size. The service was also extremely friendly and helpful, especially when we were dining with a number of young children. If in the area or passing through you must visit for food. Definitely will go back for the roasts and to try the full menu in the week.

Absolutely love this place. The pies are second to none, both in terms of selection and quality. They are all served in a nice relaxed environment and are great value for money. You do need to be aware that they can get quite busy at times and do not take reservations, but you can always go to the bar and have a nice drink or two whilst you wait in a nice friendly atmosphere. Just to update as it has been over a year since I posted the original review. I have just been back, and if anything they have got better. The service is second to none with the waitresses professional yet friendly and engaged. The food amazing. I had the apple pie for dessert and it was as big as the main pies, very tasty, though you may want to share it with someone else

Harry is the man- with his tried and tested method for getting rid of hiccups and great drink recommendations, he made a simple dinner a memorable and joyous one. We will definitely come back for fantastic pizzas and buttery soft steaks. Definitely worth a visit!

Great food and lovely atmosphere. My BBQ Beef, cheese and Bacon pie was really rather special. Will be going back soon

If you like pies you'll love it here! Good food and good service. As you can imagine on a Saturday evening when we visited it was busy but that was to be expected. Great selection of great Hooky ales too!

Simply the best pies you could ask for. Decent amount of filling and the puff pastry is layered and stands proud. You get some seasonal veg and can choose mash or chips too.

Had a deliciously lovely lunch here today. The pizza was really tasty, freshly made and one of the nicest I have had for years. The host and chef were very accommodating and there is a really nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be frequenting the Crown and Tun again and looking forwards to the smoking ovens and tent events in the future. I wish them well with the new venture It’s great to see an up and coming business thrive after such challenging times of resent. Definite worthy of 5⭐️‘S

We have driven passed this pub many times, however this time we went in for Sunday lunch, the food was was exceptional! Everything cooked and prepared to perfection ,topped of with a nice pint! Give it a try you won't regret it and I would certainly go again

Fantastic sunday roast. Portion for two was massive. Fantastic dinner with vegetables and gravy. Staff nice and friendly. Totally recomended !!!

We were very warmly welcomed by Harry who looked after us really well, especially the little ones (including a baby). Really delicious roasts including the most enormous Yorkshire puddings we have ever eaten!! Will definitely be returning for more yummy food.

Fantastic pub, the staff were so friendly and were very happy to put up with a visit from the Bicester Hash House harriers on a busy Sunday. Very delicious Sunday nut roast too. Thank you Crown & Tuns

Stumbled upon this place and so glad we did. Harry and his staff made us feel so welcome. A fine pint of real ale , fantastic Sunday lunch . Please try you won’t be disappointed.

Great food...pies large, you might want to share one

First visit to this gem of a place. Thank you for a lovely evening. Friendly, smiling and helpful staff, clean and comfortable pub. Pies to die for! Huge, packed with filling and each one delicious. The three of us agreed that we will be back and try them all! Cannot recommend highly enough.

My second visit here and did not disappoint again. The food was excellent. Was sad the minted lamb pie wasn't on the menu but the chicken ham and leek was just as good. Will definitely be back and was more than worth the 45minute drive.

I thought I knew where the best pies were served and its a pub I often visit in the Cotswolds so I was sceptical of the claims made here. Not any more! Fantastic pies, served fresh and hot (and huge). Now I have two favourites!

Went here for my birthday lunch as always wanted to go and it exceeded expectations the staff were welcoming and friendly very relaxed atmosphere and the choice of pies was immense the service was excellent and the pies were out of this world we would highly recommend and will be returning very soon 5 stars all round

Well I've been meening to go here for a long time as I've heared so much about the place so decided to give it a try and took my better half. Staff where very polite and said it would be about half hour for a table but was seated within 15 minutes our order was taken and food arrived not long after and was amazing quality and enjoyed every last bit. Then desert was just as amazing, if i could put more then 5 stars i would great place, great staff and great food and at a very good price so will definitely be going again very soon. Pietastic jewel in a little Oxfordshire village. Fabulously friendly and efficient staff make this place an essential visit when in Deddington

First visit last night & definitely won't be the last....food was fantastic, the staff deserve a special mention, so friendly & polite, we were really impressed. Lovely place, would thoroughly recommend.

I visited this restaurant for the first time last week. It was a lovely change from Indian and Chinese restaurants. We liked the portion sizes, which were very generous. The ambience was very cosy and relaxed. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Most of all we liked the fact that we were allowed to choose our own table. Definitely worth 5 stars and we'll definitely be going back again in the near future.

Food was excellent, absolutely delicious. Service was quite slow & it took a while for someone to take our order. But would definitely recommend a visit.

Amazing food!!! Took some American friends their for lunch that were staying in London for a week, and they said it was the best food they had while in England...Rock On!!!

Popped in yesterday, late afternoon which turned out to be a great time as the place became very busy. Pies were great (massive) steak and kidney has always been my favourite. Staff are friendly and attentive, will defo visit again

Visited last night for a celebration meal on my birthday. No problem with seating, and drinks served in no time. Orders taken and meals served up piping hot with plenty of vegetables for us all. Only one disappointment that the 'torte' was out, however, a different chocolate dessert made up for it. All in all, great service by two very polite staff, superb food and good value for money.

First time visitors, we absolutely loved it and will not hesitate to visit again and will recommend it to friends.
