Went for my birthday dinner with my daughter. What a great steak! I ordered rib eye steak with house red wine, my daughter had sirloin. We enjoyed our dinner, it is the best steak we have had in Derby. We definitely will come back again.
Thanks for the great evening, Emily!

Dined here after just finding the restaurant by chance via Google Maps. Such a good find! The meal was tasty, and expertly cooked. I think it was quite frankly the best steak I've ever had. I had the portabello mushrooms with garlic starter and 10 oz Sirloin steak as a main course, with creamy pepper sauce. My friend had the king prawn starter and the Rib-eye on the bone main course with black pepper sauce. Both steaks were excellent and more than adequate in terms of quantity. I cannot wait to revisit this place.
Update October 2023 - visited here again with family and friends. Outstanding service, excellent tasting steaks and a great atmosphere. I ordered the salmon parcels and almighty rump (32 Oz) steak. I was not able to finish the steak, despite my best efforts so the waitress kindly wrapped it to go. The steak was well cooked and the chips crispy on the outside and fluffy inside - perfect!
Emily was helpful with some recommendations for which cut of steak to choose and also told us a bit about the history of the restaurant.

To dine at Emily Steakhouse, it is necessary to make a reservation in advance due to the restaurant's limited space. However, their friendly staff are readily available to assist you when you need something. The appetizers, particularly the crab pot and toast, were the highlight of my meal - both delicious and filling. For my main course, I opted for the 12oz Rib eye, which, although not as flavorful as I had hoped, still deserves a four-star rating. Additionally, I must mention that the fries were so good! It's worth noting that the restaurant does not accept contactless payments, so be sure to bring your card with you. Overall, I left the restaurant feeling really full and satisfied, and I plan to return to try other dishes on the menu.

dined with my daughter on my birthday. What a fantastic steak! I requested rib eye steamed with a house-bred red wine, my daughter had sirloin. We enjoyed our meal, it is the best steak we've eaten in Derby. We will definitely return.
I appreciate the wonderful evening.

The food was great, we had the sirloin, the service was good there was very little atmosphere but they have only just reopened after there summer shutdown.
It was expensive! Roughly £50 per head for a main course, pudding and a couple of drinks.
Would I go again, I'm not sure the cost may put me off.

Absolutely amazing! Could not fault a thing. My partner took me to Emily’s for my birthday and it was perfect. Cosy restaurant, the steak was amazing! Perfectly cooked and huge portion. Great atmosphere. Emily herself is so lovely and friendly and so are all the staff. The best steak we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be returning. 100% worth the visit!

Definitely a place where you go for the food. It's was amazing. The steaks are tender, chips are amazingly crispy to offset the texture of the steak and peas. Portions are enough and the sauce compliments it's really well.

Had the loveliest meal today at Emily’s steakhouse. It was my first time eating here and I was beyond impressed. The steak was cooked perfectly and the prawn cocktail and Portobello mushrooms were the perfect accompaniment. There was nothing to fault. I’ll definitely be coming again and I highly recommend the place to any foodies and any people thinking of going.

Came here to celebrate a birthday.
The food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Couldn't fault a thing. We had to leave quite early due to other engagements but the lady gave us a parting birthday gift as we couldn't stay any longer for a drink. Covid guidelines are still being followed for those still a little scared to go out and the tables are spaced nicely apart.
Highly recommend a visit.

Heard a lot about this place so great to experience the great food and the charming Emily together with the Foulds staff. It certainly didn't disappoint. Concentrating on really good meat perfectly prepared, this place is a proper steakhouse and keeps it simple with some very tasty sauces and great chips and onion rings. It's not particularly cheap, but you can't produce steaks of this quality cheaply. Would recommend it!

I first came here in 2008 and I was blown away with just how good it was. Every single meal here since then (there have been many) has been first class.
The steak is always perfectly cooked, deliciously mouth-watering with superb homemade chips.
The starters and puddings are amazing too. And then there's the peppercorn sauce, a tasty accompaniment to any steak. I nearly forgot the onion rings, how could I forget those? The best onion rings I've found.
The only downside, I suppose, is that the steak is so good here, you won't want steak anywhere else.
If you only visit one restaurant in Derby, make it this one.

Great food, friendly staff, reasonable price , we did have to wait for food has they were busy but worth waiting for, only down side very wobbly table when I mentioned it, staff said it had been like it for years, I don't understand why it wouldn't be hard to fix

My partner took me there for a valentines meal and it was the best steak I've had in Derby.
The staff were very polite and and all the food was excellent.
At 1st I thought it was a bit pricey but when you get the quality service and high quality of food I'd gladly pay.
A must visit if you love steak highly recommended
Thank you steve and Tina

The venue is very small which left me feeling rather cramped as I was eating however we were in a large group and the tried to fit us all together! The staff were very friendly and helpful and even one staff member baked a birthday cake in her spare time for one of our party for his 18th! On the food it was truly an epic steak unfortunately I felt let down by everything else around it, poor chips, soggy batter on the onion rings! So on the whole good but I won't be rushing back!

Terrible! Upon arriving staff were awkward and the hostess made us feel a little uneasy. We went for a romantic dinner based on reviews we had read. It was nothing like we expected. We were sat in the corner where the table was wobbley and there was a plant overwhelming our table which was irritating. We ordered drinks and a starter and waited over 40 minutes for these to come after seeing three tables who came in after us be served before us! We ordered the fillet steak and were disappointed to see the lack of side options aside from chips. We prefer a creamy mash with our steak. We asked the waitress about our starter and she said this had been taken down as a side dish, not as a starter. We asked how long it would take for our food to be ready and she stated a few more minutes. About 20 minutes later our food arrived (an hour after ordering) and our starter came ten minutes after our main! My boyfriend's fillet steak was about a 4/10 but mine was a 0/10 because I had to spit out nearly half of mine into my napkin due to the amount of fat running through it. (Not one of my finest moments!) Not what I expected for a piece of steak which should have no fat in it! The cost was shocking at £24 per main and £6-7 per drink. Certainly not worth the money. I have dined in many better steakhouses including Miller and carter where the steak was immensely better, staff and atmosphere was exceptional and still cost less then what we wasted at Emily's steakhouse. Shocking experience and we walked out hungry!

We went hoping for a nice steak and we got a great steak. It was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy and tasty. We often go for cheap steak night at a well known pub chain but I told my girlfriend I was going to treat her and because Emily's came recommended, it seemed a good choice. We weren't disappointed.

We were in Derby for the weekend for a wedding so our first visit to Emily's steakhouse and we booked on reading reviews. The food was very nice I don't usually like my steak when it's really thick but it was tender and cooked perfect however my partner did say he's was a little tuff. There was some unhappy regular customers there at the time having a few words with management and staff, but in fairness they came and appoligised to us and it didn't spoil our evening.
