Cosy place. Surprising gem hidden in plain site Staff are very friendly, and they sometimes have guest real ales and real ciders on. Reasonable range of drinks Sometimes there is live entertainment upstairs in the upstairs room. Great views from this room as well

We enjoyed a night here recently. A great selection of beers, gins, spirits was on offer. Really friendly happy approachable staff and owner. Regular brilliant live music and a good atmosphere. Clientele was great and didnt feel like a typical town centre bar. Decor was nice, very clean, lovely outside area, highly recommended.

First visit to this pub and I was pleasantly surprised. A good selection of cask ale and keg taps with a range of styles from light to dark. Also bottled beers and a range of gins. The interior has a pleasing rustic feel. I was very impressed with the young man behind the bar, he had a pleasant and helpful manner and spent his time cleaning and polishing the bar area when not serving.

Good selection of ales and pleasant and efficient staff. The upstairs function room was not very big but windows gave plenty of natural light. Enjoyable night there. Bar looked pretty good. Didn't see anything else.

They do still cider! And very yummy still cider. Was a lovely place to relax, have a drink and have a read after my long shift. As we were leaving we also asked if they do food and at the moment they don't but they've already got the ball rolling for food in the new year so can't wait for that. Lovely and quirky building with very friendly staff

One of my favourite pubs in derby , this place has been really turned around in recent months. Seth has done a awesome job and his lovely team. The ales are second to none and the service too. Amazing events calendar too, spoken word , comedy, music , this place has it all..well done guys a awesome pub for derby centre. Keep up the good work

I always make an effort to come to this pub for a drink when I go out to town. From the cosy log fire to the friendly staff and the great selection of real ales and other beers this is a very pleasant pub to frequent. I also always enjoy the music they play (no cheesy pop!) Good location nestled between Sadler gate and friar gate. 👍🍻

A massive improvement to the previous bar/club that was there. A proper old fashioned pub but it feels clean and modern. Great selection of drinks at really good prices.

Nice place to have a good time. The guy behind the bar seems to have lost his baseball cap, which makes him look a lot more professional. Perhaps play some half decent music and it would have been 5*

This is a great, little city centre pub. The Lord Nelson is trying hard to find its place on Derby's ale trail and perhaps deserves more recognition than it currently receives.

Good beer, free function room in a great central location. Also good beer garden, but I don't know how it'd be in the summer.
