Called in via a return trip from Aberdeen to Portsmouth. Excellent food, staff friendly and welcoming, fab service. Very good value for money. The sharing meat platter was delicious and cooked perfectly and the homemade chips were the best ever! Pudding was just as good. Highly recommend
Lovely food, the meat was to die for!! fantastic portion and lots of choice. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful, We will definitely be going back again.
We called here on our date afternoon/night after searching for good local food and we wasn’t disappointed, we both had creamy garlic mushrooms as a starter and minted lamb chops as our main. The creamy garlic mushrooms were amazing, absolutely beautiful and the minted lamb chops, again amazing, I was only expecting one lamb chop but we got 3 each, certainly will be back here, and potentially will be looking at holding our wedding reception here, staff were extremely polite and friendly, and welcoming, friendly local atmosphere
Quiet Saturday lunchtime snack of steak pie, chips and mushy peas. Washed down with a strongbow. Tasty quality meat in pie. Better half had creamy garlic mushrooms starter and chips. Son in law 2 had cheesy garlic bread. All of us enjoyed, speedy service from a lovely friendly young lady.
All in all an excellent idea to call in. Have good memories of excellent Sunday lunches here in years gone by.
Excellent service we were seated straight away and young lady came over to take the order at the table which was nicely set and clean the heating was on as well so lovely and comfortable. We had garlic Mushrooms and hot rolls for starters & Mixed Grill cooked perfectly nice & hot steaks where cooked perfect just as ordered what is very rare nowadays
We have just stayed over with our camper van. A great pub, lovely owner and staff. Great food with a really tasty menu choice. Really nice service and atmosphere. A popular pub for locals, child and dog friendly. A great play area, large car park, tucked away but well worth the visit. Thank you.
Went to an event so didn't try the food but they did a buffet which was nice. Staff a plenty and lots of them so didn't queue for long at all.
Lovely place but a bit out of way. Worth a visit tho in the future for tea sometime.
Sunday carvery only £12 with a pudding, meat lovely, veg not overcooked, very tasty. Got a fatty end piece of lamb and was promptly replaced when asked. Busy which shows popularity, may need to book.
Superb food, very relaxed atmosphere even with social distancing in place. Definitely going back, great value for money. Staff extremely friendly, even the Landlady's dog came to say hello. Highly recommended
Rang to see if they were open for food and our call was answered by a lovely young lady saying the kitchen was open until 8pm.
When we arrived we were greeted by the same young lady, we sat down and perused the menu which had a really good variety and selection of different dishes all at a reasonable price. The lady took our order and we didn't have to wait long before our food was brought out. Both our starters and main course were cooked fresh and to perfection and were really tasty, The staff were lovely and came a few times to check everything was ok with the food,it's been a few years since I was last at Burghwallis but will be venturing back very soon
Didn't eat due to lack of time. The atmosphere was really good and would like to come back for a meal.
Great food and a lovely country pub. Was very nice to find out that desert comes as part of the meal. Cannot give 5 stars as there were limited choices on the carvery maybe due to the time we were eating but certain items had run out. Overall a lovely experience
