China Yan Chinese Restaurant

Massively disappointing. We ordered pork chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken fried rice for takeout. I don't even know what to call what we got, but it's a sad attempt for what we ordered. Sweet and sour chicken was greasy, overbreaded bites with the sauce in a cup on the side. Pork chow mein was soggy cabbage with nearly no pork, and dried, packaged noodles on the side. The fried rice was *okay* at best. It's as though someone played the "telephone game" to describe Chinese food, and this is the result. Definitely would have preferred terrible mall food court Chinese food, at least it resembles what you ordered.

June 6 2022: Buffet open for the first time since it shut down during covid. The price has gone up to 15.17 after tax and things have been elimated. No more fountain drinks included with the meal. Soda or bottled water is extra. Free options are hot or cold tea and tap water. Menu was missing some items like the BBQ pork. There was no more condiment bar or desert bar. A bit dissapointing.

Delicious Zha Jiang Mian (on menu translated as the noodles in fried soybean sauce) and Har Gow (shrimp dumplings). Just discovered they have an authentic Chinese menu as well as the American-Chinese standard fare and I'm ecstatic! I can't wait to come back and try more. They even have salt and pepper frog legs! 🍾🥳
