Very good. I had a table booked for 12 people. I rang ahead and said five would not be attending and they are very understanding and arrange a table for seven people. The food was very good, although when there was no pigs in blankets, the staff were very friendly and went to the kitchen straight away and got us some and extras.

Came for Sunday lunch certainly wasn’t disappointed. Great service lovely tender meat and fresh vegetables good value for money. The only reason I’ve given a 4 not a five star rating the roast potatoes were disappointing frozen potatoes with fresh veg very soggy not crispy. But would come again

Really quiet & peaceful. Good service & good food! To me, I was spoilt for choice over the menu!! Left booking a table last minute & arrived earlier than expected for booking. Despite early arrival, very accommodating (may be something to do with the pub being quiet!!). Very pleased with the service, food & atmosphere. .

August Bank Holiday we were in the area and we had been in before. Not a lot going on one lady behind the bar and a few drinking in the bar. Food was very good and tasty nothing under ten pounds though as main meals. Good all round visit. Lady behind the bar very nice and friendly seem to be everywhere and happy with it.

The staff also made us feel welcomed. The staff were lovely food was outstanding. We ordered I got our food very quick with in 20 minutes. Nothing was to much trouble. Love the whole experience. The dessert was outstanding.

We only went in as it was local to friends after a funeral. The place has changed since I was last there in 1979 :)
The staff seemed friendly enough, and all mucked in to serve the drinks I ordered, quickly.

I’ve been before and always found the staff very nice. The food is always hot ( although my steak was more medium to well instead of rare) and very tasty. Good selection of drinks available . All areas are clean . Will definitely come again

A great find, I went on a Thursday and it was steak night! YAY I love a steak and I was not disappointed, a good pint of Directors sealed the deal, I would highly recommend this pub

I haven’t been in this pub for a while, not because of any poor past experience, but simply because I’ve generally not been in many pubs of recent. I went in with my wife and son to have a couple of drinks and we also played a few games of pool. In particular I would comment that the staff we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming, which is probably the foremost factor in setting an impression. There was a good selection of drinks on tap, and it was a pleasant surprise to see inches cider. The pub looks good and clean/ well kept. I look forward to visiting again for what appears good value food.

Ate here a few sundays ago burgers dry and tasteless me and my friend both felt poorly after eating here. The velvet cake was nice-no atmosphere and the place was dead. The place tries hard with advertises and good competition but staff are not interested. The food lacks any imagination the baskets served in the salt and vinegar comes out all over the table. This is a good local bring a good quality food here with qualified chefs or carvery

Sorry to be a killjoy but I was disappointed with NYE!! When I got my tickets I was given the impression it would be a 'kid friendly' night with buffet & disco for my girls... When I arrived at 8.00 on NYE I was told there was no kids buffet, there was no room for kids to dance & there was about 90% adults... We made the most of it I won't lie but even the music didn't even cater for any kids in the pub. On top of that I bought pizza all round which wasn't what I was expecting plus I couldn't even have a Thatchers as my free drink...Top marks for the staff though who worked very hard!! :)

Popped in yesterday 12.30ish while car was washed next door. I only live down the road but never went in when it was a carvery. Waited a while at bar before staff appeared, only about 7 customers in there. Menu looks great with plenty of choice and different menu options, but I chose just a bowl of chips with cheese extra and hubby had fish finger sandwich. Took about 20 minuets and was just going to ask when they turned up. My chips were lukewarm and the grated cheese was not melted much, hubbys was more like a essence of fish in batter sandwich!! Oh and the staff looked depressed.

We went yesterday for mothers day, the food was amazing, and the staff were lovely. We're very helpful and lovely towards my 10 month old daughter, food was quick service, and the staff couldn't do enough for you. A lovely family pub and fantastic food... highly recommend we will be back soon �

get what you pay for if you want the best of the best food here's a suggestion take yourself out of the pub and go to the overpriced eateries In town . I had a meal with my family here was great. lots of whinging people reviews here from people who think they are at Jamie olivers

Ate here today for my nans birthday mums jacket potatoe was hard so had chips instead but they were dry felt like they'd been warmed up. The full monty breakfast bacon was over cooked loads of fat on it. My sister sent her chicken burger back as was very overcooked. Overall not impressed with food. Bar staff very unfriendly like she didn't want to be there and waitress was rude! Only good thing was got 50% off bill!

Went for a meal yesterday, ordered our food. Both plates came, chips and burger were cold, onion rings were soggy. However my partners meal was nicr and hot. Sent mine back. Meanwhile, my partner ate his on his own and when mine came I had to also eat on my own. So much for a nice romantic meal, when we've both got to sit there and eat on our own. Didn't even get so much as an apology. Terrible service.

Ate here with family yesterday. Food was poor. Burgers dry, buns burnt even the chips were lame tasted like they'd been sat around all day. No surprise the place was quiet can't believe you get away with serving such poor quality food. Lack of staff, table not cleared after we'd finished, waitress not interested in feedback.

First I would like to say the staff were the best I have encountered for a very long time. The choice of food was very good and when the meals arrived they were all piping hot.The prices were very reasonable to. All in all a lovely evening at a local will highly recommend it.

On sunday 22nd. I treated my Mum and Nan to a meal at your pub as its been a difficult time with my Grandad passing away :( . When the meals came out Mum's and Nan`s were ok but not great 😡. When mine out it was burnt and not very hot 😡. So when the waitress came to collect the plates I complained to her and she said. I will tell the chef. Like the chefs going to care! I can say I wouldn't recommend and I will not be returning!

Won't be going back. Sat on a table only to be told the disco would need the area after sat there waiting for 30 minutes for food so had to move. Food turned up after another 15 minutes, had to go back the chips were luke warm. Different chips came back and just as bad. Partner couldn't eat his food, very poor quality. Chicken salad was mainly lettuce. Chicken burgers very dry. Pepper sauce didn't come out with order and had to ask for it. No butter for three of the corn on the cobs so had to ask. All in all a real disappointment for my sons birthday meal out. Would not recommend. Told a member of staff but didn't show much interest. Waste of money I'm afraid.

We called into Generous George Tuesday evening at 7.15pm. There was just my husband and I. There were not many people there at that time and so we ordered our meals and drinks. both meals were lovely, nicely presented and hot and tasty. We finished off with ice cream which was gorgeous! we would like to thank very much the staff who served us -Lucy and Amy - very polite, friendly servers. They also checked that our meal was ok So well done!! l have to say that we have had a meal here on about 6 occasions and each time it has been lovely. We just wish the menu would change now and again - maybe some specials??!!

Booked a table and arrived to no reservation so not a great start. Ordered two chicken burgers that arrived after about 20 minutes. Burnt cold chips, burnt cold breaded chicken and no mayo in the burger. Refund received for food only but we won't be returning again

As a family of 4 we went along to a pre prepared Boxing Day lunch. The venue itself was lovely. The service from one of the female waitresses (only 2 on) was shocking, rude, forgetting cutlery, spilling the gravy from a collected plate and just being ignorant really wound us up. The food was ok but a deduction was made for the poor service. Very poor experience.

Sunday night is my most favourite night of the week. Quiz night is the best. It’s a great time for a night out with family in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. It doesn’t matter if you lose or not it’s the taking part that counts. what more could you want good food a great pint and spending time with friends and family while testing your knowledge and if you manage to come first second or third you even win a prize.
