My positives are that the food is lovely, freshly prepared and well presented. However there are a few gripes, the way that they allow people to book tables in advance is very frustrating and annoying! There are establishments around that can accommodate a large party, this place is not equipped for this! Finding times on the table and no tables available when you are clearly there is not very welcoming! We have been several times staff are lovely, but having to ask for outside tables to be cleared, is not always making for a happy customer. The food however when it arrives is lovely, I appreciate that fresh prepared takes time. We will be back !
We've been wanting to try the Sunday roast here for ages, and eventually got to go yesterday, ( we'd been before but only for breakfast)
We both ordered the pork, we had to wait about 30 minutes for it, but it was well worth the wait, one of the best Sunday roasts we've eaten out,
If I had to say one negative thing,it's a bit deceiving as its advertised as a CARVERY, which it isn't, it's served to the table.
So tasty ....yum
Called in for breakfast, I had a bacon and egg bap and a latte. It was a nice leisurely breakfast the bap was larger than expected and very filling. The bacon was cooked to perfection. I only went to see the fish man and breakfast was a bonus.
Bacon = incredible. Cannot wait to try the rest of the meat pack Mike and I got! Oh and the shop is beautiful, staff are really friendly and the view outside of the shop is gorgeous. Thanks so much :)
Visited the cafe today for afternoon tea as a birthday treat, not only was the food delicious, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We topped the day with some lovely treats from the shop and will definitely be returning. Lovely ❤️
Lovely place. Butchery department and deli excellent and the cafe was lovely. Little play area for my son to expel some energy. Bought a £25 meat pack and the quality is great. Will definitely be back x
The best breakfast in Derbyshire 🥓 🍳 ☕️. Great service and fantastic views of the countryside
I love going to croots farm shop it always sells tender cuts of meats, I always have a list from my friends for there pasties and cakes. Plus seeing the shire horses and the white pony that loves imperial mints
We had a lovely afternoon tea to get together and celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
A M A Z I N G The Bakewell Tart was delicious and coffee was nice and hot - we were a small party of cyclist and was made very welcome - even though we may have been a tad sweaty and wet!!! Coming back to buy some Xmas cake :)
Wednesday 4th October visited Croots Farm Shop and Café. Excellent Farm Shop with a great Butchers Shop. The Cafe is excellent and has a great atmosphere. I had a fabulous Bakewell Tart it was so light and fresh. We bought some great pork chops and belly pork. I still use and like the original name.
Had a mini breakfast and pot of tea, lovely food and very friendly staff. The view from the cafe is a joy, looking down over fields with Shire horses, foals, and sheep. Well stocked shop with quality produce, they had Fowlers Traditional Sage Derby cheese, my favourite. I was just passing so had not planned the visit. Next time will take a cool bag and buy more .
Gravelled parking, but ramp and designated disabled toilet.
Definitely recommended.
Great cafe with gorgeous view from outside area. We had a lovely breakfast with iced tea and iced lattes. Delicious! Dog friendly outside but sadly not inside.
Farm shop very well stocked with huge butchers counter including deli.
Lots of other lovely things to treat yourself to!
Play area for kids and lots of shire horses to see too.

We are on holiday near Ashbourne this week and decided to go to Croots Farm Shop. The produce on offer was excellent, especially the Butcher and the various pies. We were spoilt for choice. They have a Shire horse mare with her foal. Obviously very comfortable with people and having their photo taken. I would highly recommend.
I've passed this farm shop/cafe many times and I visited today for the first time. Produce in the shop is outstanding and good value. The cafe is a little small and booking could be essential at times. Food is excellent but a little expensive, but what the heck every now and then. Hot food is only cooked till 2pm but scones and cakes can be bought after this time. Large car park, toilets and friendly staff. On busy days the driveway could get a little crowded as it's one way with lay-bys. The views from the cafe inside and outside are fantastic. Enjoy your visit
We really love Croots farm shop. My toddler loves it and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. We often pop in for a cream tea and a pizza and chips and the staff always let us sit near the big windows so my little one can look out over the fields at the animals and the tractors. There's always colouring books, crayons and stickers to keep her entertained while we wait for our food as well. The place is spotlessly clean and the food and drink is fantastic. All the staff are wonderful as well. Would definitely recommend to everyone. There's something for everyone too and the shop part always has something nice in that you can treat yourself or someone else to something a little bit special.
Visited after seeing Facebook posts about the lambs and foal!
Went to look at lambs, but was told not open to public. (Maybe a sign/gate might be an idea?)
Had lunch in the cafe, very nice lose leaf tea!
Ordered an afternoon tea for two special people in need of a treat (to take away). Vicki was so helpful. Getting it ready for me in super quick time. The quality and selection was tremendous 👏 👌 Thank you and to anyone tempted ; go for it you will not be disappointed. EXCELLENT
My old Dad (81) thinks this is the best cup of tea he's ever had.
Great shop too - with Derbyshire oatcakes!
Visited Sunday for the Sunday lunch menu with my family. Me and my dad had the roast turkey and my sister and mum had the roasted veggie loaf. All of us were very impressed with the food, the veg were cooked to perfection and for me the turkey was perfect, it is a dish that can go so wrong if cooked dry but pleased to say not the case here. I finished off with a pear crumble pudding, easily one of the best crumbles I've had. I would highly advise pre-booking as it gets very busy to avoid disappointment.
There is also a large very well stocked farm shop offering everything from chutneys, sauces to pies and meat and cheese from their deli counter. Well worth a visit
Had breakfast there, food and service were great! We also had a quick look into the shop that has so many products!
We spent an age in here, chatting to the very friendly and helpful staff.
I loved the butchers section the most, not cheap but the quality looked top notch.
We had one of their beef Teriyaki's that evening, the stewing steak in it melted in the mouth. Better than a lot of steaks I've had.
We finished off our visit with coffee & large wedges of cake in the cafe.
The site sits on a hill top with broad open views for miles around.
Well worth the 40 mile round trip, we will be back, if only for stocking up for a special occasion.
Beautiful place to visit. There is a long driveway, where you pass horses and foals, sheep and lambs in fields. There is car parking available. This is a popular place. We stopped for cream tea and the selection shown was gluten free. There is also a little farm shop, complete with fresh bakes and other items for sale. Worth the visit

What a wonderful place for fresh produce and a great place for refreshments either main or light snacks, got to say we paid it a visit today and had coffee and cake and we was looked after by a very good waitress, a young girl by the name of savannah I think, what a great and well informed person she is and had a great manner with the customers. We will definitely be going again it’s a lovely place and has a wide home grown product range.
Great cafe and great farm shop. Would recommend pre booking if going for a meal, can get very busy.
