Staff found us a table even though they were busy. Good service from the bar and wait staff. Well presented local food served in a lovely river side location.

A familiar location The Swan, under new management, is alive and kicking. It's good to see The Swan at the top of it's game again.
I went there for a family meal (two adults and two young children) and was blown away by the whole experience.
The atmosphere, the food, the service. All brilliant.
We were greeted with a warm smile and shown to an ideal table ‐ space for the kids to stretch out. We felt like we had our own VIP section.
The food was gorgeous and substantial. The server advised on the pudding and it did not disappoint.
The portions are very generous so make sure you don't snack before you visit.
We will definitely be returning for round two (three and four)

Under new ownership only a matter of weeks at the time of our visit, yet everything was running like a well oiled machine. Staff exceptionally friendly (all of them, without exception), food was absolutely superb.. I had forgotten that chips could taste so good. Service was swift despite the food very clearly being cooked to order and delivered piping hot.
As I now live in London, it has been almost 30 years since my last visit, but I certainly hope that it is nowhere near as long until my next. Thank you to the entire team for a lovely meal, great service in lovely surroundings.

A fantastic afternoon here at The Swan in Kingholm Quay, Dumfriesshire Scotland. My wife and I stopped here to visit with friends and enjoy a late lunch. Our food was outstanding with excellent service provided. Loads to choose from on their menu, portions were very generous and worth price paid. Nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining. It's definitely a quality place to stop and have a drink or two enjoying the scenic views around. I highly recommend this place and will be back someday.

April 2022: What a nice setting down by the river, it is very comfortable here inside or out. I was spoiled for food choice here and ended up overdosing on the desert. Great meal, great service, great value.

The atmosphere is quiet and clean. The staff are friendly and courteous.. Good menu selection. There were no long waits for food. Food was well presented and enjoyable. Pricing was reasonable for a meal out. Seems the business is about to change as a "for lease sign" was attached to the building.. A convenient private car park is opposite.

Great service, all the staff were very friendly and helpful except one that had a face and attitude like a skilled arse.
The food was excellent and very generous sized portions.
I would definitely recommend.
Another great visit, the food was delicious and the service excellent, its a shame the current proprietors are moving on.

Unparalleled. Did not expect this amazing quality of food and service.
My hotel nearby was understaffed the day I came here and they were only serving fast food options. I did not fancy this so I wanted to take a walk.
The centre of Dumfries was a 10 minute walk in one direction, and The Swan was a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. Yes, there would of been more options in town, but the location of this little restaurant being on a backroad (There is plenty of space to park also) and next to the river peaked my interested in a nice evening stroll.
I do hope the pictures I have added speak for themselves as I was presented with a Starter and Main course that could of filled multiple mouths, I was amazed, and extremely happy as I hadn't eaten all day.
I ordered the Battered King Prawns for the starter and then the Sea Food Linguine for my Main. With a Pint of Pepsi to go with it the bill was less than £25. I would of happily paid more for quality of it. Tips to the staff also as they were lovely, caring and chatty!
Couldn't recommend this place more.

Nice pub, with food and a lovely outside beer garden. Friendly welcoming staff.
Close to the canal and cycle path and not far from Dumfries. We spent a lovely hour here in the warm sunshine enjoying a cool refreshing drink.
