Lovely atmosphere to this quaint place with nice music in the background, loud enough that you can hear it but still speak with others. The food itself is fairly expensive for a uni student budget but the cakes and hot drinks are an amazing price for what you get, with multiple options as to how you'd like to take it (eg: earl grey tea with lemon or milk). The addition of the built in book shop is amazing for those who like to read with a wide variety of genres to look through.

Oh! what a surprise. Picked out as somewhere to meet for lunch by our 7 year old granddaughter as it had books within and she could get her soup with a cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich. Pops & Grandma sceptical, but, she was right. Great menu great cooking, friendly staff. Great lunch.
Highly recommend

Staff are always hard working and the food is flavourful and cooked with love you can tell. Lovely experience every time I go hear. I'd recommend booking for busy times of day or the yh evening offer a 'hire a picnic' p to package with drinks and food. Would love to see more specials and options every now and again but I do live it here and will return. Delicious slaw too.

Stumbled on this place during an exploring walk around the vastly improving city of Dundee. What a wonderful quaint cafe / bookshop this is! Great service, lovely homemade food and nice tea/ coffee. Excellent prices, especially the children’s meal selection and to cap it off I accidentally left my sunglasses here, which they held for me until I returned later in the day! Obviously locally owned and a great advert for the City.

The very best place for lunch in Dundee. Very friendly, helpful staff are just the start of your dining experience. Great local produce used and promoted, made into delicious dishes. Also a great collection of books for sale.

Great atmosphere, lovely tea/coffee shop with selection of second hand books to amuse while munching. Stopped for coffee and cake Saturday afternoon. Victoria sponge and almond and raspberry cake were a knock out. Lovely robust coffee from Braithwaites across the road and a refreshing Earl Grey tea served with lemon. What more could you ask for Great atmosphere, lovely customer service

Wonderful service, staff, food and drink (great coffee), a lovely mixture of books and very much on top of keeping their customers safe from Covid 19, a warm welcome back to normality, whatever that may be nowadays

Love love love this little gem, from the homemade pea and ham soup to the mish mash of book cases bulging with pre loved books of every genre, the music, teacup chandelier, free Wi-Fi, penguin teapot ... and let's not forget the scrumptious homemade cakes ... I wadled around town after topping off my lunch with the sticky toffee pudding that I had no room for. The staff are friendly and warm without being intrusive. If I lived in Dundee I'd spend many happy hours sampling the large variety of cakes and tea, reading a book in one of the booths. Definitely going back :)

A very unusual combination - a cafe and 'library'. The food is very good, as are the portion sizes. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
