Nice hotel in the centre of Durham the rooms were very nice and well furnished and the staff were very friendly! Be aware though that the pool is closed as we discovered upon arrival. The location is fantastic just a 5 mins walk to the city centre shops and cathedral.

We recently had a fabulous 2 day stay in Durham en route to Edinburgh. The city was amazing and the hotel was fabulous. Perfectly placed so we could just walk out of the door and explore the fantastic surroundings. But a BIG shout out has to go to Jacqueline the breakfast waitress. She was so friendly, attentive, lovely to talk with and so interesting. She absolutely made our stay. She is also a mind reader! She knew about my liking for smoked salmon with a poached egg. We will be back to visit this lovely city and will be staying at the Royal County for sure!

Nice hotel, but only one thing l would like to mention. It would be fab if the restaurant opens just a small part for the guests to have dinner, because having your meal in the bar area is not great. We found this has no privacy and was loud. The tables are for drinks and not for having a meal, not much light either.

Stayed here as we were at the P!NK concert in Sunderland. Room was ready early, this meant we could head off to the gig a little sooner which was great. Check in was quick , staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, clean and had everything we needed for a night stay. Bathroom was clean as well, may need a bit of modernization but everything worked well. Breakfast was a buffet affair, good quality ingredients, bean to cup coffee and very helpful staff again. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, car parking was £11 so bare that in mind. Great hotel, and fantastic staff.

Beautiful hotel, very conveniently situated, Our room was beautiful- way beyond what I expected. Lovely decor and furnishings and gorgeous view . Our room was lovely upon arrival but not serviced once in three nights . So no fresh towels or bed made etc

Easy access hotel, central location in city. Nice size room, very comfortable bed. The breakfast was OK. Only downside is the £11 overnight parking fee

The hotel is a heritage with stories to tell, unfortunately, had no opportunity to explore more on this subject. The room is spacious, convenient, and located in the center with easy access to restaurants, grocery stores, and Durham’s cathedral. The only part to improve is the heating system needs to be improved. The sound from the fan was too loud and was quite disturbing.

Here for a work conference so didn't stay in a room. Food and refreshments were high quality and it was an easy walk from the car park.
