We found this place by accident. What a wonderful find!!! Home cooked chicken, rice and veggies plus a fabulous peach cobbler for under $20 for the two of us. Highly recommended.

Found this little gem while on a route. The food is amazing, its like how grandma used to make it. I got 2 pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, hush puppies a side of deviled eggs and banana pudding with a sweet tea all for 11$. Best meal ive had in ages! Definitely coming back asap

If you are looking for good country cooking then Home plate is the place to go. Delicious, they give you a lot for the money. Only one draw back, they close at 2:00 so you have to get there by 1:30 or most of the meats will be gone. Friendly staff.

Slap ya mama flavorful food ready to go in cafeteria style. I kept looking for my mama and granny in the kitchen, but couldn’t find them. Excellent choice for great food, fast and at a reasonable price for the large portions.

Very friendly customer service but the food is completely tasteless. Lumpy mashed potatoes, no even a dash of seasoning on the fried chicken, and the mac and cheese looked and tasted like they just boiled the noodles, poured cheese over it and stuck it in the oven. My drink was the only thing that had a taste. Again, very good customer service, but I wont be going back

I've been wanting to go here for a while but was a little disappointed when I did. The hushpuppies had a mix of being either rock hard or barley cooked. The country steak wasn't very good. But the chicken was decent. I would love to support this restaurant but they seem like they've given up.

2/5 The food really lacks that extra love. It reminds me of average, sloppy cafeteria food: quantity over quality. If they'd increase prices 10-20% and use better effort and ingredients it would be great. The mashed potatoes are of the instant variety, which automatically reduces my respect. The mac and cheese is as bland as it comes. For a much better example of traditional Durham food, check out Bullock's.
