Walked past Tuesday and said got to get cod and chips. Just been and how cod and chips with curry sauce can taste healthy defies physics lol. Lush.

Perfectly cooked Haddock and chips - I’ll not go anywhere else from now on - shop is sparkly clean and service is excellent!

The food was amazing. I love the batter on the fries!

Really busy place but still great service and consistently good food

My new favourite chippy. We had battered cod and chips, both were lovely. The premises were immaculate, server was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend and we will certainly be back.

Delicious traditional fish and chips, which are becoming harder and harder to get. Freshly cooked order which is so important. Cannot fault it.

Daniela's Fish Bar takes fish and chips to a new level. The shop is spotless, clinically clean with immaculate white decor. The front door's wide and there's sufficient space inside the shop to make it a wheelchair friendly area. Also impressive is the quality of the fish. It's served in a compartmentalised box keeping fish and chips separate. The fish remains whole and unsquashed which is a treat and it's served with a quarter of fresh lemon which leaves a delicious zingy flavour in among the salt and vinegar. The portion of chips is sufficient and very tasty.

During the current climate they have done everything to enable its customer to be able to continue enjoying a delicious fish meal. Being able to pre order, being given a collection time and taking payments either at point of order or at collection makes for a pleasant experience. The food is always tasty, hot and good portions with a good choice. Staff always pleasant and professional. Thanks to you all and hope you all stay safe

Taste, portion size and pricing - all make the perfect combination for this to be crowned the best chippy in the area. No parking nearby so be prepared to walk or get lucky with a spot on the road. Queuing is likely but the staff handle this very well and are super organised even on a very busy Friday evening.

The best fish and chip shop in the area. Food freshly cooked to order. Friendly polite staff, excellent service. Would highly recommend.

Tasted very nice, but for the extra price it was a rip off compared to other places just as nice. I prefer chips wrapped in paper to in poly box's but that's a personal preference, the chips were nice enough and priced similar to most places. Neither my husband or I eat many chips anyway, they're just a side so the chip portion size was fine for me and my husband to share. My husband's sausage was lovely and my cheese Pattie, whilst delicious was quarter the size of most chip shops. It was tiny And it was a lot more expensive for them. Cheese patties tend to be between £1 and £1.20 most places and are big enough to make one and a few chips a substantial meal. But not here. This is the first time I've ever been to a chip shop and am hungry after finishing my meal. Can't complain about the taste or quality of the food. It was nice. The place itself was clean and didn't have the lingering greasy smell some chip shops do.. and the staff were friendly and well presented. I can't and won't complain about it. But I probably won't go back as I didn't think it was good value for money compared to other places. I went out of the way to try this place as I had heard lovely things about the food. But I think we will just stick to the chip shops we usually use in future.

We travelled from Nottinghamshire to Daniela's after googling 'Best Fish and Chips in Sunderland' WOW!! Google were not wrong! Hubby and I both had fish and chips (he haddock, cod for myself) both were cooked fresh to order and were absolutely delicious. The staff were really lovely and friendly, we decided to eat in and they provided proper cutlery and our own salt and vinegar for the table. The whole place was immaculately clean and welcoming. We are DEFINITELY coming back here when we are next in the North East :-) Thanks Daniela's

Our first visit this afternoon, just before closing time and Veranique (sorry if I've misspelt your name) and Daniel the chef couldn't have been more welcoming. We were taken by suprise as we walked in, a fabulous light , bright and modern interior with a beautiful contemporary crystal chandelier in the entrance and absolutely immaculate throughout (5 star food standards agency award) A lovely cup of coffee while we waited for the Cod and Chips to be cooked fresh, they were served in a nice box with separated areas for the Cod and the Chips, excellent presentation even in a box, down to a nice lemon wedge and a piece of parsley for garnish both placed in the box using tongs. The Cod and Chips were perfect with a generous portion of homemade Tartar Sauce, finished off with a tub of Minchellas icecream. We had ordered to takeaway and even though it was 1.50pm and they close for the afternoon at 2pm we were allowed to eat in so our icecream didn't melt, they held it in the freezer for us. To be honest we can't say what was better, the excellent service or the perfect Cod and Chips. The fabulous welcome is what we will return for again....thank you.

2 x fish and chips for a family of three was more than enough tonight. Cannot knock the place and it has probably improved although there was not much to improve on. Cheers for more cracking bait and don't change that curry sauce recipe.

Beautiful fish & chips, with light batter that is gorgeous. You have to wait, everything cooked fresh, but the wait is worth it and the added bonus of a lemon wedge & parsley sets this place ahead of the rest.

Amazing food and service. The fish bites, chips and curry sauce is a firm favourite! Daniela's is just the best!
