In my second year of uni & living nearby. Would choose visiting this pub over a night out in town, always a great crowd and lovely staff, everyone is super nice the music is fab. It feels rlly safe, would recommend visiting to anyone looking for a lovely evening with friends or family.
The pub was nice! Really bad parking though, they didn’t tell us there was a rave going on that weekend, so music was booming!
We returned at 11:45 and there was a fight almost breaking out, the barmaid (who was really lovely) ushered everyone off eventually but people were still sat down there till 2 talking and we had to have our windows open
The rooms were clean and presentable tho and comfortable but cardboard under sink looked in finished at least paint them
5 star service from the people on the bar at the pub! I only caught one name (Victoria, thanks!!). From a pub that apparently had a bad rep has, from my experience turned it around!! They were all friendly and the locals were lovely too- the pub was also supporting local musicians which was lovely and it seemed to bring worlds together! They’ve made it look really lovely, they’ve got board games, pool etc and would defo return. Thanks 🙌🏻
Rooms were small but comfortable and clean, with great shower. Breakfast in the ajoining cafe was very good. Bit of music from the pub below, but finished at 11pm - to be expected. Really great location for access to walking paths on South Downs, a little bit out of Brighton town centre, but well-served with buses.
Very warm welcome. Our room had a couple of issues but the landlord/owner put them right.
I always measure a business by the way it handles a complaint and cannot fault the Ruby.
Pub had a very friendly welcome from the locals too.
Rooms on the small side but ideal for me for 1 night,modern bathroom with awesome shower,nice comfy bed slept amazingly.nice all round,downstairs pub nice and cosy
Location fab lots of buses and street parking, room was clean and staff friendly, water in bottles provided which was a really nice touch. Unfortunately it was st Patrick's day so the music didn't stop till midnight and then there was a fire alarm so we stood outside for 45 mins when we'd both just fallen asleep. Apart from that can't fault the place and will be back again.

Fantastic pub with very welcoming and accommodating staff. Great selection of drinks and seating area outside. Overall a great place.
We were looking for a venue to hold a wake for family & friends. After visiting the Ruby & talking to Tracy (landlady) to discuss we were happy to hold the wake here. We aked the Ruby to provide a buffet for approx. 35 people with vegan and carnivores catered for which was not an issue all at a very good price.
On arrival from the funeral we received a warm & friendly welcome and a fantastic buffet with plenty of choices.
Our beloved relative was also 60 years old on this day and the Ruby provided a few extras so that we could not only celebrate her life but also celebrate her 60th birthday.
The Ruby has a medium size function room at the rear with a large bar and front and rear beer garden with sesting.
The Ruby has a large selection of beers, spirits & wines also slushy's for the children.
All in all a sad day but with the help of the Ruby it made the day want we wanted it to be.

This place is ok if you want to stay in Brighton for 2 day's or more has the rooms are small but very clean very nice cafe opposite the pub 😀
