Extremely friendly service but unbelievably busy on a Sunday. We pre booked which was fortunate. The carvery queue was long with many items running out. Service was great, amazing team, so friendly and swift in ordering and bringing out drinks.
Managers were very courteous and efficient. I think the kitchen needs more support to help run the delivery orders as well as the in restaurant diners. The team were swamped but despite that they were always helpful and responsive.
Best roast potatoes at any Toby's we've had.

My wife and I were in the area and booked Sunday lunch. We had not been in a Toby for a long time and this did not disappoint. The food was fresh and well stocked and although it was busy service was good. Good choice of roasts and the only minor issue was that we expected a bit more meat than we got by "going large", however meat is expensive and this may be deliberate to keep the costs reasonable, which they were. Would happily go again.

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived despite booking it.
Service was slow but the lady was friendly. Carvery was unmanned and we had to wait. Beef was almost finished and the carver was determined to give us the dry horrid bits when really a fresh joint should have been brought out. Potatoes were hard but tasted OK. Veggies nice and hot.

I visited with my dad & uncle (identical twins) as I’d driven my dad from our home in Poole, to visit my uncle.
My uncle has eaten in your restaurant several times & recommended it as somewhere nice to eat.
He wasn’t wrong. We ate at 12, the food was just perfect & the value equally so.
The service was so friendly & welcoming & our waitress was wonderful

We arrived as a chance table on a Saturday afternoon. Advised possible one hour wait, so we decided to wait.
It took 13 minutes to find us somewhere!!
Thrilled to see lamb added to the Saturday menu, which was also perfectly cooked for my taste. The selection on the carvery was great and well stocked, carvery chef cheerful as were all staff we encountered.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago whilst on a visit to the UK and enjoyed the most delicious carvery you could imagine. I had the roast beef, which was beautiful and of course all the trimmings. It was divine and the staff were lovely.

Have been a few times and food and service has always been excellent. However when we went last Sunday we waited ages for someone to appear and top up the vegetables. Meanwhile the chef was continuing to carve for all the people behind whose meat was then cold. Also there was various nasty comments from people as we were holding up the queue. Won't be going on a Sunday again, it's far too busy.

Considering the team at the carvery was under pressure, and every time there is a £5 offer, they are always rushing around and mega busy. Two people that stand out with a young gentleman, very tall, Fronterhouse blue shirt, black trousers. He has certainly grown his job as I recognise him from about a year ago. Didn’t catch his name but well done to him and good luck. The other lady was an Indian lady couldn’t remember the name but very tall, she was very pleasant, great customer service and although seem very very busy always gave a small. Well done to the team.

Had breakfast there. Reasonable selection of cooked food but the toast only had marmalade on offer as a spread. Good to be able to just pay for porridge, toast, cereal, etc at about £1.50 each if anyone doesn't want the full fry up experience.

We cannot complain about the food at all. We've been travelling for 8 weeks from Australia and found it difficult to eat out at a reasonable price and great food and struggled to get vegetables until we heard about Toby carvery. Wished we had heard of them sooner. Great value and food

Booking was great and convenient, was sat down as soon as we got there. Food was amazing and service was too. Only complaint was that my custard came cold and I had to send it back to be heated.

Iv always like Toby. We had one in Enderby in Leicester which was really popular. However they got rid of it So it was a treat to come here. Food was nice and staff were friendly polite and helpful. But the poor things are run of their feet as not enough staff but they really tried their best. Could be a bit cleaner but some customers really are lazy and leave a right mess.

Had a lovely meal yesterday food had just been put out as I got up to the counter. We had booked our table so was seated straight away. Had a nice little corner which was nice so not to noisy as we have a son with special needs. We actually found something for him to eat as well as he has such a limited diet of what he will eat. Waitress was busy but we didn't have to wait to long for our drinks and puddings.

This used to be an excellent carvery and looked forward to visiting - not any more, never again. We tried it a few weeks ago and standards were going down hill. Tried it again new years Eve for lunch and was even worse.
The place was not full, which is already a tell tale sign! Beef was getting towards the end of the joint and was more fat than meat. Gammon was not very tasteful either! Cauliflower cheese, was so hard the knife had trouble cutting it. Roast potatoes were so shrivelled and dry I had to point it out to one of the chefs who shrugged his shoulders! Parsnips were 'crunchy' and worse choice of vegetables I had ever seen.
We ordered the drinks after waiting at the table for 5 minutes and we were back with the carvery before the drinks appeared.
Did not bother with sweets - paid up and left
I see other comments on here about standards going down hill, they sure have - too few staff, tables left to be cleared when 'there was time to do it', food appalling, so much so my wife has an upset stomach this morning as I had
Update today 11th January my wife was able to go out side for the fist time since New Years Eve. The Doctor has been looking after her and sent a report to environmental health
Surely the new management we have heard so much about have had time to get this sorted and seems they have not got anything sorted.
Linda Reed
Going down hill fast , last couple of times we've been, there has been no roast potatoes, veg was last scraps , waiting for them to top up while rest of dinner is getting cold to then find gravy almost empty . To eventually sit down to eat to find the beef was very fatty , the turkey dry . Definitely won't be returning .
Sarah Field
We went for breakfast yesterday, the food was lovely but I was really put off by most of the plates either still having dried on food on them or being very wet - unfortunately they was no members of staff around either - in the end I made a pile of the dirty and wet plates!! Really put me off going back
Neil Moran
I lovely family get together. Not very well organised though. When we arrived we were told that the turkey would be ready in an hour. We must have queued for ages. Had to wait for all the meat, but then it all arrived simultaneously. Though the meal was piping hot and enjoyable. Didn’t have any crackling which I love.
The Geordie waitress was very busy and attentive. She couldn’t do enough for us. Very pleasant and well mannered.

Firstly I don't suggest anyone wastes time going here. I came here in October and it wasn't great, I complained but like lots have said nothing was done apart from offering me a free meal. I turned my nose up at it thinking I would never go again but today I thought I'd give it another go, being that it's supposedly under new management I thought it may have improved.
When myself and my friend got to the Carvery the first thing she said was please can we not eat here, dirty is the biggest understatement. Dirty old food left everywhere, we watched the 'chef' replace the new food with dirty lids that clearly haven't seen a dishwasher in a good while, the carver served my meat on a dirty plate and when I asked for a clean one she simply said sorry love. We filled our plates with dry pork, a rock solid Yorkshire pudding, chewy tough roast potatoes, (when I attempted to cut one of these it actually landed on the floor from it being so hard), carrots that tasted as if they'd been boiled for 6 hours in mouldy water, I literally can go on. The gravy was vile, lumps of god knows what and what a mess it was.
We stayed strong , still thinking it might just maybe be edible, after all we had been at work all day and was both starving!!
We sat down, I attempted to cut my Yorkshire pudding and failed miserably so I picked it up, took a bite, or shall we say attempted and it crumbled. The pork was so unbelievably dry, the 'potato bake' was indescribable, was it even potato? Who knows. My friend had one carrot and laughed it was so awful.
We honestly were both speechless and as for your excuse of a manager what a joke he was, I'm talking about the short bald man, you're a rude person. Telling a customer ' well we've had no other complaints' is not a good example of customer service and clearly the Toby is desperate to have employed you.
I'm only so very sorry to all the customers that didn't have the nerve to complain. I have many pictures of anyone wants to see, and I'll be emailing the local paper and head office.
Millie Bloxam
Sadly they didn't have enough staff to cater for the increase off customers that the air show has bought. With dirty plates and very little food available it was not a enjoyable visit. The two floor staff were pushed to their limits! Hopefully you have learnt from the mistakes and can turn things around for the future.

We came in yesterday about 5pm, was told there was a half hour wait which we was happy with and only waited around 15 minutes, the waitress we had was lovely and very friendly and helpful always coming too make sure everything was ok, and the meal was beautiful, i would definatly recommend.
Joe Howard
Nice meal but a bit tight on the meat and the cauliflower cheese could do with a bit more sauce, was more like plain cauliflower. Bit if a cheek putting the price up £3 on Sundays.
Ali Bradders
Tonight was a shambles, half the food, dirty tables, harassed waitress, no drinks ‘ I’ll try to get you one’ was he response no turkey dried chucked breast clearly zapped somewhere horrendous
Linda Brookshaw
Only three members of staff seeing to the whole restaurant during its busiest time. Absolutely disgraceful way to treat the employees! 5 stars to the staff, I didn't witness any sign of stress, polite service with a smile. The company should be ashamed of themselves, sadly they won't!
Dave Allott
Absolute shite! Extremely poor service. Flat beer. Food extremely poor. Will never visit again. Yorkshire pudding wrap??? Yorkshire pudding crap!!
Shane Lee
Waste of money food was bad service was shocking small selection of veg potatoes weren't very nice puddings were still doughy price does not match quality
Sara Grant
Would just like to say a massive Thank you to the General manager and our lovely waitress nikki for all your help last night . After a very enjoyable meal my boyfriends dad suffered some mobility problems and the staff were totally amazing don't know what we would have done without them . Thanks again X.
Gemma Winter
Awful experience. 1st and last time we will ever visit! As a family of five, who had booked 4 days in advance, we were shocked and really disappointed at how poor the food and service (if you can even call it service) was. Wouldn’t go back even if we were paid to!!
Peter Wright
Really disappointed with our visit on Bank Holiday Monday . We have been there on many occasions previously and really enjoyed the food and service but this time the service was really poor. The place was not that busy and it took so long to wait to get the carvery that I ask for a refund and we left.
Nicky Oxborough
nice friendly guy behind the bar
meal - tasteless - never had a flat Yorkshire pudding in a Toby before
Nora Batty
Food fine as always - service good - got a little bit concerned when our puddings arrived with soup spoon for my husband and a tea spoon for myself - did ask for dessert spoons but told they haven’t got any !! Where have they gone . have they all been stolen or just decommissioned ?? Coffee’s arrived with wooden stirrers - we asked for teaspoons and were told “ we don’t do them any more “ - will bring our own next time
Paige Saunders
Haven't visited for a while as each time our family visits the food is horrible and again on this occasion the food was yet again dry, overcooked and horrible. Dry meat. Lumpy gravy. Rock solid stuffing. Dry and very hard potatoes. Lumpy mash. None of it seemed fresh and as usual a disappointment and a waste of money. Not even the children wanted to finish their dinners. Won't be coming back until they get a new chef or at least someone who knows how to cook properly.
Disappointing
Lucy Stewart
Lovely meal , great amount of vegetables and friendly staff.
Annette Fearn
We had a very lovely lady called Helen, serve our table. She was cheerful, friendly and worked hard.
The food was lovely too. Have been to local rival carvery but the veg there was overcooked, so thank you Tony for restoring our faith in going for a carvery : )
Maggie Ann Cairney
We love your place. Staff were really friendly, and prices reasonable. Food great!
Hannah Russell
Met for a few hours with family and had a great time, staff are great and so friendly!

Usually a good standard however this morning's breakfast was poor. The baked beans were disgusting to say the least. Both the scrambled egg and the fried eggs were rubbery. Bacon in some cases was very over cooked. It took 4 attempts at least in the toasting machine to actually get the bread toasted. Tables were missing cutlery. I know you can do better please improve the standard of the breakfasts as your roasts are lovely!
Catherine Williams
I've had terrible customer service all day, popped in here for something to eat on the way home and received fantastic customer service, well done Susan or Nikki
