Beautiful little pub. We had a meal on a Saturday lunchtime and ordered from one of two menus. Good variety of food available and the home made burgers we had were delicious. Good value and good service, we will be going there again.

Called for lunch before visiting at stanhope hospital. Very freindly welcome from walking in the door . Had a nice chat with i presume the owner and staff service with a smile throughout. Food was great cooked fresh to order with good portion,s will call again when in area

We stayed here doing the Coast to coast and it was perfect in every way. The staff, service, food, room etc there was nothing to complain about. A very friendly home from home atmosphere

I've really wanted to pop in here for Sunday lunch for quite a while. So my expectations were high and - I'm happy to say - exceeded. The staff are friendly & efficient and their Sunday lunches are traditional, tasty and generous. You're having a good meal in nice surroundings and it all feels very homely. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there but it's a treat and well worth it.

Great food, very friendly helpful staff, very good quality ales and lagers all in really beautiful countryside. A very good travelling stop, certainly worth a visit.

Having a number of vegan friends and living locally I would be most interested in knowing where there is a vegan friendly pub within 2 miles. Personally I have no issues whatsoever with the food in this pub and would recommend it to everyone along with other local premises, although would question vegan options.

A proper pub not been spoilt by breweries. A lovely feeling to it, cosy and welcoming. Dogs allowed in. Landlady friendly and chatty. Drink prices a good. Had two meals, Friday evening and Sunday dinner. The food is excellent. Highly recommended to visit.

Delicious home cooked food and the best home made chips. Excellent portion sizes and good value for money. Cheap drinks prices. Great friendly service and lovely pub atmosphere. Lovely hot choc too!

First time have visited for Sunday lunch despite fact we live 3 miles away!! Highly recommend. We all had lamb Sunday lunch which was amazing. Plenty of veg served separately. Service was great, lovely friendly staff. Will return

What a lovey meal, Plenty of vegetarian, gluten free and even vegan options, one including an amended vegan Sunday lunch. This didn’t include a Yorkshire pudding, which I didn’t expect at all, as it is difficult to cater for everyone’s needs. With regard to the previous review from a Charlotte Graham stating that in this day and age there should be plenty of vegan options is ridiculous. Don’t know what she she wanted them to do. My friend is vegan but never expects people to put themselves out for her, she quietly accepts the menu. I definitely will be back, don’t let her review put you off.

Literally just finished Sunday lunch, it was beautiful, fresh vegetables, fabulously cooked meat, the meat gravy and Yorkshire pudding were perfect. Washed down with 2 halves of Moretti. Staff very pleasant and chatty, will definitely be returning here. Thank you 😘

Great pub, very friendly staff, and the food is especially good. The sausage and mash on a huge Yorkshire pudding is obscene... and amazing! The rooms were small, without good ventilation and it was hot during the summer and the shower pressure and temperature were inconsistent. In a nutshell, great pub, ok hotel.

We just went here for a Sunday lunch yesterday as on holiday and sick of cooking. The meal was fabulous and mouth wateringly delicious. We had roast beef and sticky toffee pudding to follow. Also hot and delicious. They also allow dogs and there were lots in the bar there yesterday but all laying down and very well behaved whilst owners ate. Had a lovely atmosphere and liked it so much are going back again tomorrow for another lovely meal.

Lovely pub, great food & fantastic service. 9 of us stayed on our coast-to-coast cycle trip. We arrived wet & hungry, highly recommend this hotel - rooms were very clean & comfortable.
