This restaurant has been on my wish-list for a long time. As an Indian and Nepalese cuisine lover, I almost tried all the possible restaurants in Edinburgh for this type of cuisine, except this one which has been closed during its normal ‘working hours’ without telling when it will reopen to customers. Luckily, it finally reopens on a Saturday noon when my sister passed it and noticed. So we immediately decided to have dinner in the Everest.

Let’s go straight with food first. We ordered chicken momo, vegetable korma and mushroom bhaji with plain naan. As starter, chicken momo was served after about ten minutes. It was freshly made accompanied with home-made tasty sauce and tiny side salad. However, two of five dumplings seem had fragile pastry with fillings were exposed. Nevertheless, the dumplings had solid fillings, but honestly we did not taste any chicken within the fillings. In comparison to momo, its side sauce was much nicer and delicious. Its taste is like home-made, fresh and not hot with coriander on it.

Soon we finished our momo, hoping the waiter can serve the main dishes quickly. It took us about ten minutes trying to find waiter in the restaurant as no one was at the counter at that time. Luckily, a young man with lovely smile noticed that we finished the starter and came to give us quite warm big plates for our coming main dishes. Soon the main dishes were served after the hot plate put on our table to keep curry flavoury and hot. Personally I think offering hot plate is very considerate because lots of Indian restaurants have good curries but they soon turn to be cold, hence the flavor deteriorates once curries become cold.

Mix vegetable korma is absolutely amazing with generous portion and dessicated coconut. It is not creamy, unlike traditional creamy korma in some of Indian restaurants. Personally I think it is one of best two korma in Edinburgh (the other one is Namaste Kathmandu). The mushroom bhaji is also great and delicious. Both of main dishes are mild, which are good for us as spice intolerant people. Yet, plain naan was not very impressive relatively. They were hard to cut and too crispy. I’m not sure whether they are over cooked by tandoori.

The menu includes a wide variety of choice, including traditional Indian and Nepalese dishes. So you might want to try all of them. The Everest restaurant overall did a good job both for its service and its food. The chief knows exactly what he cooks and culture of this cuisine. There were also lots of customer after us coming to the restaurant, who were mostly regular customers. The young waiter who told us he worked part time in the restaurant particularly had good service quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant to Indian and Nepalese cuisine lover and definitely try other dishes next time.

Along with Yak and Yeti, one of my favourite nepalese restaurants in town. Although the presentation of the dishes is not fancy at all, they lack no flavour or spices. Awesome pakoras, delicious momos (I could eat them all the time) and fine curries. And very good value for money.

Super delicious food and most is gluten-free. Our server was really knowledgeable about gluten allergies and we all really enjoyed our food. Best curries we’ve had in awhile!

Online order. OMG this is the best meal deal for 1. Veggie pakora for starters, Chicken Tikka, pilau rice, garlic naan, poppadoms, some chutneys and a drink. Absolutely delicious. Fresh and full of flavour. You cannot get a deal like this for that price and quality anywhere in Edinburgh.I’m lucky they deliver on Uber Eats

A great meal with great flavours. Only one guy on service but he was cheerful and helpful. Acknowledged we were waiting for our food as he dealt with another deliveroo order and sorted it quickly. Otherwise I would have been saying it would be better to have the food delivered than eat in. I do prefer it when there is a separate collections area. But all in all a good meal.

Exquisite food, unexpected detail in the dishes. The chicken biryani came with 3 parts - chicken & rice plus salad plus sauce. Raita had fresh ginger - best raita i have ever had. Half split pea & red lentil dahl delicious. Very generous portions. Gracious & attentive service. An excellent place.

I must say that this place is great, nice decor, comfy seats, friendly and attentive service. Reasonable prices. I ordered a chicken bhuna as main course (default is med) if you want mild ask for it) they cater for Dairy free too. The starters were great too. Recommend this place.

Stumbled across this Nepalese & Indian restaurant and we’re all satisfied with the foods. Highly recommended for anyone who dropping by Edinburgh who want to have some curries. They’re full of rich flavour and use sufficient ingredients such as onion and coriander unlike other establishment who may use breadcrumbs like to fill the curries. Nan breads are also deserved to be mentioned, top class 👌🏻

Phenomenal place! It was quiet when we arrived and service was predictably speedy. I ordered Rogan Josh (curry) and spouse got the Himalayan Chili Garlic. We shared a serving of rice (quite large) and we could have shared the naan, as there was plenty, but we were extra hungry so each got our own baskets 😁 Loved it so much, came back a few days later!

I am a regular customer and every day I enjoy more of the delicious dishes at The Everest, there is a variety of new things to try and there are also chicken nuggets with fries in case you have children who don't like to try new things, a 10/10

Exceptionally good! One of the best curries, maybe even the best I've ever had in the UK. Portions were very generous and everything was utterly delicious! We had 21 Spice Chicken, Ghurkali Fish Curry, and Lamb Himalayan Chilli Garlic - all were FANTASTIC and delicious, and had a lot of meat/fish in each (unlike too many places where it's mostly just sauce); the lamb and chicken were both tender and delicious. The Chana Massala was exceptional too (VERY moorish) and a very big portion for a side dish. The paneer sag was also delicious! All in all fantastic, I'd 100% come here again next time I'm in Edinburgh. Service was also exceptional, extremely helpful and they were clued up, communicative and reliable when it came to my friend's peanut allergy. Thank you very much for a curry that exceeded expectations in all ways! A+++++

We’ve been traveling, and this was the best meal out we’ve had in weeks! The lamb shank was meaty, fork-tender and beautifully accompanied by a rich and delicious sauce with gems like whole cloves and star anis to give an excellent balanced flavour -so good - and the huge naan bread was wonderfully light and tasty. Total success - we took out, and just marveled at generous portion size too! Totally all thumbs up!
