Such a warm and friendly establishment. Visited this stellar spot during a 200km walk up through the Borders. Friendly, smiling, engaged and helpful staff and owner. Easy warmth and hospitality. Delicious coffee and cake; it didn't last long enough for me to take a picture of it! Fresh and flavoursome lunch that I would definitely have again. Highly recommend

Nice quaint cafe in the quiet old part of Balerno. Good selection of cakes and snacks. Coffee was ok . Recommend the bacon and black pudding rolls . Staff very friendly and has a nice atmosphere. Seats both inside and outside. Plenty of parking around the back.
People of Balerno you are so lucky having a place like this on your doorstep as we visited this place today and what a find. Lovely decor, great welcome from all the staff to us and our dog, delicious food and not just your run of the mill stuff. I had sweet potato soup with ginger and chilli and a warm cheese Scone. The soup was wonderful and my wife had a crepe with warm Nutella sauce, real cream, not the squirty kind and a thinly sliced banana which she said was the best crepe she had ever had. First time here and definitely won't be our last. 1st class 👍
This is a lovely little coffee shop in Balerno. Food is always good, soup, sandwiches and cakes. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Give it a try!
I called in for lunch after a cycle in The Pentlands with my middle Grandson. Bacon rolls and hot chocolate were delicious, the service was excellent and staff were friendly!
Now named Carlyle's Bar and Kitchen, recently renovated, just old enough it doesn't smell of new paint.
A tiny bit dressy, on at least a Friday when we went. We felt a bit out of place in t-shirt (me) and hoodie (the wife). But, the staff was very welcoming. We came in, Friday night remember, with a stroller and they have some tables with reservations. No problem, we are seated—with a high chair—in under 2 minutes and they were happy to have us.
Food is excellent, uniformly. The bread and butter is awesome. Everything I didn't eat I wanted to grab as it went by.
The building is very small, so if it gets popular then good luck. It is on a dead end street, with not much parking. There's maybe three spots at the end of the lane, steps away from the front door, if you cannot find anything else.
Cozy cafe with delicious cakes and coffee. This trio dream combination of Oreo, cheese cake and brownies will make your day better!
Had a delicious bacon roll and a coffee from the hatch of Carlyle's at the Balerno Farmer's Market. They even did a gluten free version for Mum. Garthy loves it there too! They are doing such a great job keeping the Post Office open for the community whilst adapting their business to the current COVID restrictions. Keep up the good work!
