Delicious lunch for 5 today. Great choice of dishes on their 2 or 3 course meals for around £15-18. The only minor gripe was the water being served at room temperature in tiny stone flagons. Asked for ice and got 2 lumps each! Come on chaps. Jugs of icewater please
I was in Edinburgh for my brother's funeral and normally eat in my local Barnes Cote in London. I needed to be somewhere familiar.
I entered into a friendly welcome and was seated and served very quickly.
Having eaten in various Cotes over many years. l am familiar with their structure and framework. Also that each Cote is individual.
I recently wrote feedback in relation to another Cote, reflecting on the service that a waiter/manager or a member of the house staff gives. I was trying to explain how, regardless of what training or experience or structure someone works in.
There is something that can not be forced or given on tap. That something is the giving of self. If one is truly happy doing what they are doing, their spirit shines. On the other hand, if an unhappy waiter will ooz negativity.
As a customer, you feel it. In that moment of engagement, there is a moment of connection. It contributes to the positive or negative experience of dining out.
The reason why l am mapping out this review is that l believe when something doesn't feel right or the experience is tinted in someway, then as customers we have the responsibility to give people an opportunity to put it right, and not leave the restaurant to complain online.
I have visited many restaurants all over the world, and I have a policy that if l have had a very bad experience, l will not write a review. I did encounter an experience, which the front of house manager spotted it and spoke to the member of the staff in relation to the incident.
For me, it was a small thing, but because the individual cared, they gave themselves to their job. That is something extra you can not train or buy, as it comes from the heart.
It's pointless saying what it was as it was resolved with kindness and genuiness , without me actually saying anything. The act of kindness left me feeling cared for, enhancing my experience of eating at Cote.
I love the atmosphere, menu, and food at Cote, and not feeling too great in myself, this lifted my spirit. So thank you, Edinburgh Cote. 😊
Thank you to the member of the staff who went beyond duty and was attentive and ressuring. Definitely will return on future visits.
I left the restaurant feeling fed and nurtured as the Scottish wind hit against my mawhok, feeling contented, l disappeared down the Edinburgh cobbled stones.
Great place. We did a quick stop outside. We tried only entrees and all were great. The internal restaurant seems to be very good as well. We tried the baked camembert, smoked salmon croquette and a side of Ratatouille. The French Old Fashioned drink was delicious.
Amazing experience
I often surprise how Britons are so kind and polite which gives me learning and enlightening.
Everywhere you can find this Best of best casual modern french dining ! Amazing service, not expensive but delicate, mild & very detailed dishes !
Only some greens was very old but I believe it was mistake and fixed to new dishes ! 😅 😋🤩
Very knowledgeable manager explained so many thing ! They have very great staffs !!!
We recently ate twice in Cote in Bath and were really impressed so wanted to try the Edinburgh restaurant.
We were not dissatisfied, what a great place for lunch.
The food is always good at Cote and the staff very pleasant.
Portions of Fix Prixe menu smallish but at 2 courses for £16.95 still good.
Had charcuterie board as starter which was good but could do with some chutney or oil & balsamic to add some moisture to the dish. Two chicken with mushrooms & frites to follow then two deserts.
A very pleasant place to eat good food served by great staff , thank you,
we will be back soon.
Lovely meal again tonight at Cote Edinburgh. Confit duck, tender and full of flavour and the praline profiteroles with raspberry were a delicious light dessert to share. Friendly welcoming staff. We'll be back...again !
We had a wonderful dinner at Cote on our last evening in Edinburgh. We enjoyed the Baked Camembert for a starter, and for our mains we had the Sea Bream Nantais, the Squash Taboule and the Beef Bourguignon. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was outstanding! We closed out our evening with the cheese board and the sorbet. Dining at Cote was an excellent experience, and the perfect ending to our visit in Edinburgh!
We have been there for our #anniversary. All staff were amazing and do their job professionally. We will definitely visit again.
We had a fantastic meal to celebrate our uncles birthday. As always the food is exceptional and the staff are beyond helpful.
A lovely meal for 5 friends, great food and excellent service. The only issue was that two of the group wanted to pay their share using cash and this wasn't possible, but we were able to sort that out amongst ourselves.
Highly recommended!
• French breakfast - french style scrambled eggs with chives, toasted bread with butter, streaky bacon, mushrooms, black pudding
• Eggs royale (smoked salmon, poached eggs with hollandaise and paprika atop toasted muffin), side of guacamole
• Crossiant with strawberry jam, pain au chocolat
For a fixed price menu the food was excellent, really good sea bass and the pear, walnut and blue cheese starter was delicious. Smaller portions suit us really well so this was a perfect lunchtime venue for us. Really good, attentive and friendly service without being intrusive. Recommended!
Let's start by saying that my partner and I were looking for a nice restaurant in the Edinburgh city centre and we came to know this thanks to an Amex offer.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, elegant and relaxing. The staff was super nice and very professional. Re the food, I've tried the Prawn Gratinee as a starter, the Monkfish as a main and the Rum Baba as a dessert. Everything was delicious and really tasty, especially the Monkfish. That was just amazing! The dishes are well-priced considering the quality of the food, service and the nice atmosphere you get.
We look forward to visiting again!
The only problem I could see, is with the tables next to the entrance door. If someone walks in/out the cold from the outside hits you pretty hard.
We visited Côte recently and we couldn't be more pleased with the food that we had . It was everything so tasty and they gave us a table next to the window. The words it's not enough to describe how mouthwatering was everything I have tasted . If you looking for a tasty fine dine you need to visit this french restaurant 👌🏻
Great brunch - my friend and I split the French onion soup and a veggie breakfast between us and both were spot on. Also it's the best veggie sausage I've ever had! My friend loved her French toast too. The staff were very accomodating of us being annoying customers and arriving in dribs and drabs and hanging around etc etc... Thanks again!!
Came here for a friend's birthday party and the staff was really helpful! From the reservation to the food and service, it was amazing. Loved the staff that helped us out throughout the birthday party, and they assigned us a private room too. Though, my ribeye was slightly raw when I ordered a medium, but they straight away grilled it with extra fries on the house. I had an amazing time here.
Dedicated gluten free menu and food was labelled with little flags when it arrived. Service excellent, staff so friendly. Food was really lovely and the diners were not crammed in. Great place.
Great food and good ambience. The beef bourguignon was tender and delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The starters were delightful, steak tartare and camembert.
Very warm friendly staff. Our waitress Emma was amazing. My mum is a coeliac so it was fantastic to be so looked after. Usually being GF is so difficult and you are never sure.
Probably the best chain restaurant experience ever.
