We decided for this Restaurante because it looked good outside and it was near our place. Well done on our choice. Food was great! We have chosen 3 starters and one main and we had some Corona. The price was okay for any Mexican we are used to go and the food was so so good. We really enjoyed it!

Decided to go to this place for dinner while walking along grassmarket. Looked really nice from outside and the menu had a lot of varieties.
This restaurant is perfectly located on grassmarket road opposite to a lot of restaurants and bars.
We ordered Nachos with less cheese and a burrito. Nachos tasted really yum but had a lot of cheese in it (asked for less cheese) and burrito was the best, they serve with salsa and avocado topping. I would rate 4 for the food and plating. The ambiance is pretty and I would give a 4 too.
Overall, perfect location, pretty place and delicious food!

Mariachi Restaurant – Edinburgh – 26th June 2014

We received a warm welcome and were given a large table at the front of the restaurant. Menu’s were handed out but as it was the start of the night, we were all fixated on the extensive drinks menu. A bundle of Corona, Amigo’s and Margarita’s were ordered – I think we all knew it was going to be a memorable night.

There is something majestic about 8 men in a Mexican, ready for food.

We ordered an array of starters. Nachos piled higher than the tallest sombrero peak, full of chilli, salsa, guacamole and lashings of sour cream. Camarones were ordered – delightfully butterflied King Prawns, seasoned with dried chilli and juicy lime. If that’s not to your liking, we also tried phenomenal Chicken Wings, a taste sensation and a must try. As Bruce would say – ‘the spice was right’. The final starter was the Chicken, Mango and Sour cream Quesadilla which I can only describe as an exotic fruity pleasure.

On to the mains…

There was an abundance of choice and we faced a conundrum of what to try. The taste buds were rising and it was time to tuck in. Chicken Enchiladas, snuggled wraps tucked in with a blanket of ranchero sauce. How about a Chimichanga with either chicken or slow cooked chilli beef? A deep fried Christmas present with oozing sumptuousness. There was a calling for a Steak burrito which went down fantastically well – Large in size and bursting in flavour. I personally went for the mixed fajitas, chicken and steak sizzling together and every wrap went down with spicy salsa, jalapeno and a good dollop of sour cream. Pulled Pork, emm… yes please – served in a soft taco with shredded lettuce and salsa, it was melt in the mouth fantasticness. For the table we got servings of rice, re-fried beans and outstanding potato wedges. The wedges were crunchy and on the outside and soft on the inside, dip these into a healthy amount of churned man love goodness and you have yourself an exquisite Mexican side dish.

The beers and margaritas washed the meal down well and we all looked rather proud of ourselves. Just when we were considering unbuckling the belt, “dessert menu’s”…… oh go on then.

The majority decided on Churros with one other opting for strawberry ice cream with sprinkles… it must have been good as he was transported back to his childhood faster than Marty McFly in the DeLorean. The Churros were tremendous – 3 sweet fritters of dough delicately dusted with sugar and cinnamon and served with deeply rich chocolate sauce and whippet of cream.

Another successful night for the Food Cub members – thanks to all at the Mariachi. Great Service and Excellent value for Money.

Fantastic!. Thus far Edinburgh's best Mexican, matches Bibi's in Glasgow for taste food and nice atmosphere!

Really enjoyed my meal here. There is lots on the menu to choose from. The service was really fast and friendly too. We had stuffed chillies, tortilla flutes, and fajitas. Everything arrived quickly and tasted really nice. Would suggest not having a starter if having fajitas as a main as it is huge! Glad we arrived when we did as the place quickly filled up around us so if in doubt, book!! enjoyed the wine too. Nice looking little place in the Old Town with nice food and at a fair price. Recommend it to anyone.

Fabulous Mexican food the best I’ve had in a while. Very busy but it didn’t stop us from having great service. I would recommend booking a table.

Authentic Mexican food is hard to find and this place nails it on the head. Between the fresh nachos, enchiladas and tacos I couldn't fault it. The portion sizes are great for the price and we struggled to finish the mains after getting the sharing nachos to begin with. Service was great despite it being busy. If you're Edinburgh and are craving Mexican then I would highly recommend this spot.

Oh my god, absolutely delicious! The Chimichanga pork was the star! Amazing. We highly recommend it. We also had the nachos, and they were the best nachos I have ever had. The guacamole was good, but we would prefer it to be more flavorful. It was okay. We already had fajitas, very good too. Love the place and the chimichanga, we already miss you.

Excellent food and service, staff were excellent 5* but only concern was the number of flies on the walls. Serious point for management to look into. Hasn't changed my review but wanted to get this across

I had their pull pork tacos and spicy chicken wings, and it was yummy! The margaritas were fantastic, a perfect match for the flavors. The only downside is that solo diners have to sit outside, but don't let that deter you from enjoying the delectable dishes they offer. Definitely worth a visit for any Mexican cuisine lover!

Absolutely amazing. From start to finish. Mojito was outstanding and one of the best I’ve had. Now the burrito reminded me of my childhood. Brought back memories from childhood and tasted like my Abeula recipe. Highly recommend. Atmosphere is amazing and very happy

Enjoyed nachos, vegetarian enchiladas, rice & beans, and ended with churros. Their paloma was excellent, the 110 margarita was good, but the glass was overfilled with ice and thus less drink. Great service, reasonably priced.

Wanting tacos, or at least Mexican food, we stopped in Mariachi. We were immediately seated. The menu was thorough. I ordered a chicken burrito and my son ordered a chicken quesadilla. The food was so delicious that my son wanted to order a quesadilla to go. My burrito was equally delicious. I highly recommend Mariachi. Prices are fair, staff is friendly and dress is casual.

I was walking in Victoria Street when suddenly it was in front of me this Mexican restaurant, I couldn't believe that because I was so far from my country and in that side of the world it's difficult to find a good Mexican restaurant, so I went inside and I ate "Fajitas", it was so delicious!!, I was astonished because the flavor was similar to typical Mexican food. I highly recommend this place!

An excellent Mexican that I've walked past many times but only now dined at. Would absolutely go back - even if it was for the guac & chips alone ❤️

Please don’t come to Edinburgh looking for the best Mexican restaurant in your life but if you’re familiar with Mexican cuisine and feel like having it just so you know this is a GREAT place to enjoy some totopos, tacos de camarones and the even have ‘Modelo’ beer 🍺 nice!

Excellent food options that cater to vegetarians. Authentically Mexican. The flavours and spicy level and portion side all get a 5 star from me! If I have one advice is that the enchiladas are a little on the salty side and the churrious could use a stronger cinnamon sugar mix. Overall I'd definitely come back!
