The coziest place on a snowy day. Delightful cuppa, served with warmth and love, surrounded by equally good energy. Took home a bag of ground coffee for good measure

Situated below street level is Wellington Coffee; an intimate coffee house worth the visit.

Focused on a quality cup, Wellington Coffee takes their brewing seriously. The cafe itself only offers coffee and a limited selection of scones and brownies.

The space is filled with the smell of freshly ground coffee beans and a playlist playing from a mini portable speaker that the barista harmonies with from time to time.

There is limited seating and space to spread out but that's what makes it different to most. For non-coffee drinkers they provide a seriously good hot chocolate, as well as a selection of teas.

Admits the hustle and bustle of the Edinburgh City, Wellington Coffee provides the perfect quiet place to grab a coffee and take a midday break.

On the lovely bright morning, Wellington was a great stop for a coffee on George Street. The Chai Lattes and Cappuccinos were deliciously strong but flavoured! Then you could sit outside and watch the world go by!

A lovely cafe on George Street - it's tiny inside with only a few seats, but there are quite a few tables outside (below street level) and on George Street. I had a delicious flat white, and the cakes and scones looked scrumptious as well.

Technically... I'm not vegan.. Yet.. But the soya milk hot choc these guys do us the BEST iv ever had!!! Liquid chocolate!
I just wish the staff were a bit friendlier, a bit too 'cool for school'.

If you are in town on a sunny day then try and grab a table at Wellington Coffee. As well as good coffee, they have a solid selection for sweet treats making it the ideal place to stop and recharge your batteries before getting on with the rest of your day.

Hidden in a basement on the corner of George St, this is easy to miss- but please don't! Without a doubt, the best scone I have ever had (they had bacon and cheese for savory fans) with delicious raspberry jam, sitting outside... Great coffee too, and VERY reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back. My hunt for "the best scone in Edinburgh" is officially over.

Compact but Cute. This basement café has a superb central location and although it's tiny it does not feel cramped. The counter is dominated by the coffee machine and there is a small selection of scones and pastries to the left. I had a large latte and have to say it was excellent. Quite pricy but top notch for sure. It's a nice place to sit and relax either inside or at the pavement tables.

Cute lil basement cafe off the busy shopping district. Serves good coffee, one of the best I've had in Scotland. Love it. Interior is cramped but feels cosy. :)

Fantastic coffee if you like Nz/Oz coffee taste and style then you'll love this place. the bacon rolls are made fresh! no panini toaster re-heats here. fresh croissants (almond and plain) are also fresh and tasty. others could learn a lot from this well run cafe.

Wellington Coffee is a lovely little place on George Street. It is only tiny but they've created a cozy atmosphere with newspapers, great art work, nice seating areas and some fab background music.

Wellington Coffee is another lovely hole in the ground kind of place in Edinburgh. Located in New Town, small, cozy, and warm. You can get cakes, brownies, scones and a lot of coffee

Here you can get a great coffee and very tasty scone with butter and jam. Lovely place for a little break while you make your sightseeing plans or just want to sit and observe the people outside. The inside was a little small, but there were many places outside. It was a lovely place. I will be back if I get back to Edinburgh

One of the Smallest and busiest cafe in Edinburgh. I had my cappuccino from this Wellington cafe. Enjoyed the portion size, their scones pastries and cakes were tempting me but I couldn't get this time, I am sure I will visit this place once again. This tiny place is far too busy, but I have not seen any queue in there. The person making coffee was a human robot. I have noticed free tap water and glass to help by ourselves which is unusual in Edinburgh. They have place to sit in and sit outside or they offer to takeaway. I thought of asking them the story behind the name, I will ask when I go next time. Enjoyed their Coffee, service and the ambience.

Its a tiny but really lovely coffee shop. I think its a great place to read your book but not to do work. Signal was really bad down in the basement. I ordered chai latte and taste was ordinary. Would be back for their coffee!

Really nice small coffee shop in the center of Edinburgh. In a really convenient place for a pit-stop mid shop. Coffee is always fantastic and the scones are unbelievable - reasonably priced aswell.

This place should come up on the best coffee shops in Edinburgh lists. It didn’t show up in any I was looking at, but it’s delish! Great coffee. Great small space. Really cute outdoor under the street level patio. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this gem wandering around Edinburgh. I ordered a fruit scone and a cappuccino. Scone was one of my favorites I have had in Scotland and the folks here are awesomely quick. The place is small but they have plenty of outdoor seating!

There are only a few tables here, but you will be able to sit down soon because people go out quickly. I stayed here for a while and a lot of people visited at that moment. The coffee smell was good and the scone was delicious. Especially, the clotted cream was really delicious and I can't forget it. But I don't really enjoy scone with raisins, and there's no plain scone here, so I didn't have a choice. It would be better if plain scones were prepared.

We came across this cosy and we instantl6 fell in love. The flat white here was the best I had in a while. Scones and all the add ons were just delicious. Above that you got simple, cosy design and nice outdoor sitting. I would totally recommend :)

Nice independent coffee shop in Edinburgh centre. I drink a lot of coffee and been to a lot of independent coffee shops, I’ve got decent experience in making coffee etc. Never in my life have I paid over £4 for a cappuccino! £4.10?!?? Coffee 6/10 Atmosphere 9/10 Music 10/10 Food didn’t try.

A great breakfast place for travellers! Ordered a flat white and a fruit scone, was absolutely delicious. Soft crumbly scone with butter and fresh grounded beans. Ideal sitting for getting or avoiding sun and wind. Lovely service as well 😙

What a journey to be able to finally eat these scones! I made a spontaneous trip to Edinburgh recently for two days! Day 1 I had a scone but it was without clotted cream so I wasn’t satisfied. In the evening on day 2 I Googled best places for scones in Edin and this placed popped up! It took me 40 mins to walk from old city to new city to find they only have a savoury scone left :( I just had to have a proper scone on my trip or it would just have been incomplete. I wandered around but who serves brekkie items in the evening🫣. Cut to next morning I am having breakfast and my train back to London was at 9:30 am. I rush through my brekkie and walk to this place again from my Hostel. It takes me 40 mins and I am on the borderline to miss my train. I arrive and there is a big queue… lol. I still was sure I had to get the scone. I grab a scone… yes with clotted cream!!! And finally enjoying it on my journey back❤️❤️❤️❤️ It was soo worth ittt🥰

My favourite morning coffee stop in Edinburgh. Well priced with good variety of pastries. Small and intimate setting below Penhaligons. They do Squaremile coffee which is a home favourite of mine so it's nice to compare how I get on compared to the professionals. They do have a loyalty card - 10th drink would be free.

Best coffee this side of the Nor’ Loch. Not cheap (but it shouldn’t be), high quality beans handled by well trained staff, excellent pastry which means happy customers. Don’t go anywhere else on George Street!

So this really small little cafe was introduced to me by my friends who raved about this place. Tucked away in a basement type area you could easily pass by it and miss it , but you surely don’t want to miss it The first time I tried it I was amazed at how amazing the coffee was . I have always been a big fan of their coffee and visit them whenever I am in princes street. I don’t usually drink at the big coffee chains that are in close proximity to wellington(Starbucks, Pret) when I have such a fantastic little cafe right around the corner. If you do come in the morning you might find that there is a bit of the queue and a little cramped on the inside to take your orders for takeout but the staff are really friendly and everything is orderly. There are a few seats inside and a few on the outside that you can sit and enjoy this wonderful coffee. A full 5/5 from me. Every single visit has given me the same joy that I felt the first time I visited the cafe. My go to drink has always been the flat white and I really do enjoy it at Wellington Coffee.
