What a place !! They have 30+ varieties of sauces to coat their amazing wings in !! Cound give a competition to Nando's in my opinion .. tried thier Bobba Fett milk shake : chocolate and coconut rum milkshake, and was mind blown .. definitely a must do when in Edinburgh ..
its a perfect place for hangout with buddies, the place is quite small and vintage, the overall vibe is nice. The best treat were the crispy wings with a very perfect balance of tenderness on the outside and the inside.
You get most delicious chicken wings here in whole of Edinburgh , you get two varieties dry and with sauce , I like the one with sauce it can get a little messy but worth the taste !!
Been to Wings a couple of times and think I return for the cool idea, splendid setting and dazzling staff in light of the fact that anyway cool it is to pick from heaps of wings I've never loved any of them. The dry ones over prepared, others over soaked and odd tasting and what is with the bizarre chicken tenders in the sauce? Think the nourishment needs a bit of refining then this place would be great.
When can I move in? Haha! Absolutely love this place! I could eat here every day!
The restaurant is arty and quirky with a lot of interesting pictures up on the wall, ornaments and art. It's totally my type of style. I love that it's in a sort of basement style and the games room down the stairs is really cool too!
The amount of wing combinations you can choose from is amazing! I still have so many to try and I cannot wait to go back and do that.
I had a couple of beers and chose a couple of difference flavours of wings and also ordered the chimichanga. The wings were fresh and crispy and the sauces were divine! Everything was really delicious and seasoned perfectly!
One of my tops in Edinburgh to take friends and family to.
Wings and chips! Wings and chips! And more wings and chips!
Possibly one of the simplest restaurant concepts out there but the combo simply works brilliantly. Jamaican me crazy was our favorite wings - their chips are to die for - and sol beers go down like a treat. This is an experience well worth trying if in town!
A popular destination for my of my friends. I eventually got around to visiting.
I had been told what to expect regarding the food but never heard much about the interior and I have to say I loved both!
The starwars/sci-fi (Dr Who)Ā theme, the murals, the overall general quirkiness of this place just makes me smile. Its casual, friendly, easy-going dining that all you can do is have fun and a laugh.
As for the wings - its chicken, its wings, its lots of sauces. I'm not into all this hot sauce (one grain of heat/curry and my mouth becomes a flame thrower!) but the selection of sauces is vast and caters for most tastebuds from the mild and tasty, to sweet and sour, to the I-feel-pain!
My favourite sauces were the Canadian Reserve (maple BBQ) and the Sad Cheese (blue cheese).
It's messy, it's happy and it's cheap!
Wings is great! So cheap and tasty!
It is a casual dining experience, with yummy food. Every table has its own theme; on our most recent visit we were at the Star Wars table. The menu is all wings, except from a few other options such as nuggets and chips. Although it is only wings there are so many sauce options that you will not be bored! They are also extremely generous with the sauce, which is especially great because of the cheap price. I definitely recommend visiting Wings as a group so you can try as many different flavours as possible! Baby Blue has been my favourite flavour so far.
If you are trying to save money, want a quick bite to eat or a relaxed, fun evening with friends, Wings is the place for you! But if you're on a first date, maybe not! The wings are so delicious that things will definitely get messy!
I love Wings! The decor is great and there's a really relaxed feel. The wing flavours are amazing and so much to choose from that you will always have something different on your next visit.
Wings, Edinburgh
31 July 2015
A slight change of pace for Food club, we took a step away from the standard 3 course meal and took a satisfying leap back to a simpler time.
We wandered up to the Mile from Waverley and meandered through the closes until we found our destination.Ā Just off the royal mile we found our way inside and were seated at our table. You very quickly realised that each table had a theme and we were sat on 2 put together. The tattoo table and the āWhereās Wallyā tableā¦. top entertainment for gentleman such as ourselves. The only sour point was that we were not on the Jurassic Park table due to it not seating 7 people, but for a T-Rex smashing through the wall Iād have happily sat on someoneās lap. I also noticed the menu had a Poke Ball on it, if there is a PokĆ©mon Table that I missed, well quite frankly I might freak out. Wings & PokĆ©mon is like Peas & carrots.
We got a round of beers in and perused the mouth-watering menu. There were no prices so we asked the waitress what the etiquette would be for the evening, when she advised it was Ā£3.50 for 6 wings and order as you like, all etiquette went out the window we darted back to the menu.Ā
The only discussion was how many do we order up front, just 1 was out of the question so most opted for 3, some had 2 and others had 4. In hindsight Iād probably say 2 was best because they are very fast with service and in order to keep the wings as hot possible, this was the best option.Ā We washed them down with beers and ordered chunky chips to mop up the saucy goodness left behind.
Iām not sure how many flavours they had but there is literally something for everyone and more. You could choose from dry rubs, Spice, BBQ sauces, Chipotle Sauces, Ranch, Cheese, Alcoholā¦. You get the idea. I believe there is one that requires a disclaimer and a few do like a bit oā spice but that was maybe a step too far on this particular occasion. The highest we dared was a level 4 heat, I tried it on a chip and nearly lost my face but for those of you love that burn, it was very tasty⦠or so I was told.
Between us we devoured 174 wings, which if you ask our friend Fraser, āThatās over 200 chickensā¦..ā Someone clearly forgot their abacus that night. We filled the pail with bones and looked at each other with a certain look accomplishment. We picked the bones from loads of the varieties and flavours and every one of them was an absolute delight. I couldnāt recommend just one and urge you to get a good mix. Maybe the āNew Worlderā. Maple BBQ dill with bacon bitsā¦. It was groin grabbingly transcendent. Someone from the table also shouted āI AM SPARTACUSā we are still unsure if he was approving of the flavoured wings or just making a bold statement.
The evening was as always filled with laughs and the busy restaurant had a great atmosphere, and being so enclosed this was enhanced.
More beers were ordered to finishing off the evening before we slowly descended down the Royal Mile back to Waverley.
Canāt praise this place enough, Friendly staff, phenomenal wings and brilliant value. If youāre looking for a bite during the festival, Christmas shopping or even cause you just want some damn good Wings, get yourself here immediately.
Massive Thank you from all at Food Club, That was majestic.
Reccomended by Buzzfeed so thought would be worth a try . I can give it much more than recommended . Wonderful drinks menu to start with .the decor is tacky yet comfortable . They serve wings in 80+ sauces from fresh to spicy and i tried 4 of them , all of them being perfect . At 3.50 each they are a steal . My favorite were the Ghengis khan and Chalapeno . 3 of us ate stomach full for 24 GBP .
Great concept and really cheap. However the wings are a bit on the dry side. Would be great if their buffalo wings are more juicy. Side dishes are quite delicious too.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this place but I really did. My friends and I shared 4 bowls of Wings between 3 and we also got two portions of their fried tortilla strips(so good). I really recommend Oh Canada and Schticky Wings. Someone at a table next to us tried the suicide wings challenge and puked which I have to say really put me off my dinner.
I wasnāt sure what to expect from Wings. Would I feel full enough? Would all the food not be a bit same-y? And where the heck is this place anyway? After years living a stoneās throw from the city centre I didnāt even know Fishmarket Close was a place, let alone one with a restaurant on it. (Thanks, Buzzfeed!)
But after visiting Wings with an equally skeptical fellow gastronaut, I have to say Iām now a wings (and Wings) enthusiast. The straight-forward concept is well executed and the unpretentious experience really got me hooked.
We grabbed a table and started choosing sauces for our wings from an extensive list based on different flavour styles ā hot, fresh, dry rub, BBQ etc. Thereās also the option of some sides or a beer to go with your meal. Once ordered the wings were quickly delivered, six to a bowl. Each bowl is Ā£3.50. We also got a lot of napkins, drinking water and a metal bucket for chomped on wing remnants. Dip, chew, toss, wipe, repeat. Win(g).
For our toppings we chose āGene Parmesan,ā a mild and creamy Parmesan sauce with black pepper; Buffalo, splashed with hot sauce; āNew World,ā a BBQ sauce laced with bacon bits and a sprinkle of dill; and āMargarita,ā a marinade of tequila, lime and salt. (FYI, three bowls of wings would have been enough.)
Each wing was perfectly cooked, with a crisp skin. The Parmesan could have been cheesier but the Buffalo was just right for me, with a mild burn that didnāt linger too long. If you like to feel the heat though you can up the ante. Wings runs a Hot Wing Challenge using āsuicide sauceā and a āWall of Flameā for those who compete in it. (I know some people who tried and couldnāt get past the first wing.)
The Margarita was probably the least interesting, with a slight tequila aftertaste but otherwise not much more flavour than the squeeze of lime we added. Our favourite was easily the New World. The crispy bacon bits were a marvellous addition to the BBQ sauce and the dill provided a fresh zing. We fought over the last wing ā it wasnāt pretty.
It seemed a shame not to try a side, so we ordered some tortilla strips too. They were thin and crispy, deep fried and delicious in their unhealthiness. We opted for a blue cheese sauce with them ā there was plenty of it, but it lacked a really strong blue cheese flavour.
Now, anywhere that serves a bucket with its mains can hardly be described as upmarket, and the decor is in keeping with that vibe. Evoking a geeky student bedroom, there are X-Men comics for wallpaper, Doctor Who posters, shelves of Star Wars paraphernalia and small inflatable animals hanging from the ceiling. But somehow it works ā and it certainly reflects the clientele. You can also play board games (presumably after youāve washed your hands) and thereās a projector, so you can bring films to watch with friends. Wings is fun, casual and cosy. Itās not hipster ā and these days in Edinburgh, that makes a welcome change.
The staff at Wings were so very friendly, helpful and good humoured that they deserve special mention. They really contributed to the relaxed home-from-home vibe. The service was swift and attentive, which is a wonderful thing when your hands are covered in grease and you really need more napkins.
Since thereās no cutlery, eating at Wings is a very messy experience. Tearing tender flesh from a bone is not going to be everyoneās cup of tea. But if like us you donāt mind, then get stuck in and enjoy the carnal eating. We smacked our lips with joy and enthusiastically licked our fingers clean. Which leaves one final thought: first-date food this is not. Youāre welcome.
Until I tried Wings back when they were based under the mexican on Victoria Street I hated chicken on the bone. Wings completely changed that. With around 50 sauces and rubs you're spoilt for choice. Spicey, bbq, sweet, creamy, almost anything you could want. And cheap, cheap beer. Wings also do the Suicide Hot Wing challenge, guaranteed to ruin your night but you will get your photo on the Wall of Flame should you succeed. Don't forget some strips & chips for dipping in your leftover sauce!
Oooh I just loved it here. It had an indie vibe to it, with lots of cool artwork and cosy atmosphere.
I ordered wings with a sauce that was 4 on the hotness scale. It was reaaallly spicy but so so good, I was sweating and my whole mouth was burning 𤣠but it was so tasty! Fries really nice and crispy too.
I got a tooth, my boyfriend got a pooch. Different versions of the hooch alcohol drink with shots in them. I thought this was genius š¤£
Happy drank was also delicious ā¤ļø
Can't say enough! If you want wings, this is the place to be! It's got a variety of spices and sauces from very spicy to not spicy at all! The mushrooms, I definitely recommend them, they are fantastic! Maybe not so great if you are sitting next to the toilet but sitting outside when the weather is good it's awesome!
You canāt get better than Wings for magnificent food, service and vibe!
Honestly the selection of sauces and sides are just everything, itās such a great experience and different to anything youāll do whilst in Edinburgh ā„ļø
Favourite sauce for a sweet kick: Brown Sugah
Favourite for hot and sweet: Molten Mounty
Favourites for creamy: Gene Parmesan
A huge variety of choices for flavors that one cannot possible finish trying them in five visits even. Also, you can choose to have 3 full wings or 7 nuggets, which is a very good design.
The decorations inside were insanely creative too. So many walls full of stickers or paintings that are really interesting, I love them all!! Great place to eat, talk and enjoy the atmosphere.

The best chicken wing in Edinburgh.
Must try Ong Bak sauce.
The price very reasonable.
Itās the mixture of a fair and awesome price and the hot pepper mood lighting that will keep us coming back to Wings! The sauce selection is so diverse that you never have to have the same thing twice but always pay the same! The nerdy atmosphere and friendly staff made this wings stop a place to remember in Edinburgh! Also I was shocked at the fast service! There is no wait!
This place was awesome.
Firstly the staff were incredible, just the right level of professionalism and friendliness suiting this place to the tee. Constantly waited on but not in a way that it was too much, we always wanted another drink or more wings.
The food was fantastic, we had the Mac and Cheese with more wings I should admit and the selection was just brilliant.
Keep coming back to this for the incredible variety of wing/nugget sauces on offer and the superbly nerdy decor. People who have not been here yet: 1) being adventurous will reward you; 2) make sure to order more than what you are initially inclined to.
This was the best find ever !!!! The wings were incredible and the atmosphere š. Tried their hottest sauce (just a dab on a toothpick ) and it was great. Super spicy but awesome all at the same time. Definitely will be back.
I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. The Wings are great and sauce selection is extensive, there's something for everyone. Mozzarella sticks were great, crunchy and not soggy and with stringy cheese.
The milkshake was exactly what it should be, we had Oreo which was a chocolate-y creamy dream!
The interior is fun and over the top American Diner style but is great, there's even a wall that takes after where's Wally but someone has doodled several characters for you to find on the wall. Ended up not leaving until we found them all, if you're sitting in front of that wall know that people aren't staring at you, just at the wall.
