Last night in Edinburgh and just looking for something quick. Got pizzas and risotto. Also got some potatoes on the side. Pizzas were fine and risotto I felt was very wet. Food wasn’t great to be honest.

Authentic Italian eatery with an eclectic atmosphere.Very lively with happy wall graffiti.Pizza rustica was a thin crust rectangular shaped caramelised onion goat cheese.Garlic bread was done well with rosemary herbs infused.
Pocket pinch was 20£ and good for vegetarians.

The dough was also eggfree to our delight !

Walked in without a reservation, we were seated pretty quickly near the front window. Lovely view of the bustling street way below. Waitstaff very helpful. Food was good. Ambience quite noisy but friendly. We enjoyed ourselves, if ever in Edinburgh again, we will be back!

In case you didn't know, it rains a lot in Scotland.  One evening my wife and I were walking around Edinburgh and taking in the sights, when it began to rain on us.  My wife was on the verge of a "hangry" attack, so we decided to grab a bite to eat and get out of the rain.  The first place that we came across was Zizzi, which is an Italian restaurant chain in the United Kingdom.

We went here for Valentines Day and loved it! The food was incredible and I would go back here any day. The garlic bread with cheese was the best I've ever had. For mains I got margherita pizza which was really good and Gary got another pizza which he also really liked and he got their special long based one. For desserts we had a little brownie cake thing that had chocolate sauce in the middle @with ice cream and that too was very tasty. The only think I'd say is we did have to wait like 45 minutes for the bill despite asking a few times but I'll let them off since it was valentines day and they were rushed off their feet. They also have toilets with very nice lighting - ladies I know you'll appreciate!

Very good pizzas. If you like a little kick or a challenge try the Divalo pizza.

To get to the first Zizzi to open in Edinburgh in seven years, you have two choices. If you’re working up an appetite you can walk up from Cockburn Street or indeed if you want to keep fit. The easiest option is from the Royal Mile, look out for the entrance to Mary Kings’ Close, walk down the passage as if you were going into the attraction, turn left and you’re there.

We went along to the launch evening, and were enchanted to be met by some of the residents of Mary Kings' Close dressed in their finery for the occasion. Now, I can't promise that sort of welcome each time you visit, but you'll instantly feel at home. You walk into an L-shaped space. Before you is a fabulous view down over Princes Street and beyond.

I am instantly drawn to the left of the room where, in an open kitchen the team are preparing pizzas to bake in the roaring oven behind them. Starters are being prepared to the other side. It's a hive of activity. Later when I talk to Steve, the manager, I discover that he had the pick of staff from other Zizzi's and has brought the best to lead his team. He did have to find other staff to replace them mind you!

Much as the pizzas looked delicious, I was keen to try one of the other dishes and was tempted by the Zizzi fish stew. A rather nice touch, the menu indicates dishes that contain 600 calories for those wanting to go for a lighter version and incredibly this dish is one of them. To start with with have a platter which showcases some of the dishes from the menu.

The calamari (from the sharing menu) and the garlic bread with mozzarella and tomato and pesto bread from the “dishes to start”. The calamari are among the best I’ve ever tasted. Both the breads are delicious and the way I like them, crisp and not too much topping. Mr EF waxes lyrical about his insalata di pollo (chicken salad) which is again one of the 600 calorie dishes and includes chicken, pancetta, green beans, cannellini, onions, tomatoes and lentils in a aioli and lemon dressing. It’s moist and has just the right amount of dressing.

My fish stew is chock full of fish and seafood in a deeply flavoured tomato sauce with sliced potato – each element cooked perfectly. Portions are generous!

We get to share 3 desserts between us: lemon tart, tiramisu and chocolate tart. It was difficult to chose our favourites as all were a very fitting end to a lovely meal. Just to mention, the drinks list is extensive and reasonably priced and don’t miss the chance to try the limoncello!

We continued to enjoy the atmosphere throughout our meal and the excellent service. Prices are reasonable – do go and give it a try especially if Italian restaurants are not your first choice. It’s really special.

Visited after a long day of exploring. Being vegan we thought it best to dine somewhere we were familiar with. We knew exactly what we wanted meals and drinks were nice staff were friendly. We had our desserts to take away and as it was my birthday I asked them for a little extra honeycomb (I don't think it actually contains any honey) the waiter hooked us up lol. Yummy. The pictures don't do the meals justice but they were all flavoursome.

Great food! They have a large selection of gluten free items. My son has celiac's and was excited about all the choices. The employees were friendly and the restaurant was clean.

At the entrance we were met by Kasia who made us feel very welcome and made me happy giving us a table next to the window so sipping drinks before meal we could enjoy a view to evening city. Kasia helped us to make decision what to choose. Both Ravioli and Spaghetti Bolognese were tasty. We enjoyed ice creams also. We didn''t notice how quickly time passed and we left as last guests, but even so we were not rushed by staff to leave. Thank you very much for a lovely evening.

First time eating here, great atmosphere, was seated and was eating food really quickly! Amazing vegan options available, even separate menus for dietary requirements, not something you find so easily. Would highly recommend eating here, lovely staff too!

Went to Zizzi when we got off the train at Waverley. It was quiet, when we arrived but the restaurant itself is very open and spacious. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout the visit. Always serving with a smile, and checking if we needed anything. The food was delicious, we had calamari which could have been slightly bigger cuts (but it suited us) and then the pictured pizza. Both were tasty, hot and brought out to us quickly. The pizza pictured was a ‘rustica’ and was enough for two of us. Great service and reasonably priced.

Really nice restaurant. I had pizza, lasagne, tomato soup with bread. The pizza was definitely my favourite. Also if you are student they offer 30%-40% off depends on the day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Oh, if you there pick the table close to the window, the views are really good!
