The staff and management were incredibly helpful, both in the lead up to the event and during the event itself. There were several occasions where I contacted the manager who was always helpful and reassuring in the planning stage. On the evening of the event the bar and waiting staff were courteous, and very attentive. The bar staff were efficient and relaxed. The food was served at the agreed time and the quality was of a good standard for the size of the party and what was asked for. I would endorse the use of the function suite and the service provided. A very good evening was had by all. Thank you.
A group of a dozen of us booked a private, lunch party at the Charwood last Monday. The ambience, setting and the service provided all exceeded our expectations and the addition of an extra, unexpected guest did not faze the staff one bit.
The quality of the cuisine was very good, with a varied choice on offer and the dishes were presented with style, some dishes on 'tipped-up' plates and the steak dishes on rectangular, wooden platters.
The Charwood is one to return to!
Charwood is one of my favourite local restaurants. Have been coming for many years although changed names to Charwood a couple of years ago now. There is excellent parking and not too far a drive from the city centre. The restaurant goes from strength to strength and you can really tell that the chefs and waiting staff take pride in what they do. The stone baked pizzas are amazing and I can never usually look past them however on my most recent visit I opted for the Sirloin Steak with BBQ marinade, blue cheese sauce and chunky fries. I certainly wasn't disappointed and the steak, medium rare was cooked to perfection. It's amazing how many restaurants, and usually the ones that are better known, over cook their steaks. Charwood is maybe slightly understated for the attentive service, exellent food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. With plenty to choose from on the menu and good value for money I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
I've been going here on and off for many years and it's been consistently brilliant. Its the perfect local restaurant, for when you don't want the hassle of going out into Edinburgh city centre. The menu has a great selection of Pizzas as well as all the traditional dishes you'd expect, all well made, nicely presented and at a reasonable price. I love going here, I think you will too.
...it was clear that Charwood was a great spot for all occasions. It’s a simple menu which will appeal to all diners, EdinBlogger was given the lunch menu but as I was in a good mood I allowed him to share my dinner menu… I think this was a sneaky ploy to get us
I have going here on and off for several years. Today is the first time I have been inspired to write a full review because the service was absolutely brilliant. The food was great too. They always do a great pizza because they have pizza ovens but can be a little hit or miss otherwise. No faulting todays experience and a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️
The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is really lovely. Very fresh and modern.
Fish and chips was the best I've ever had, hands down. We also had the garlic pizza bread with cheese to share and it was delicious. The biscoff sundae for dessert was amazing - huge and actual whippy ice cream paired with biscoff sauce and crumbs, plus two waters and a biscoff biscuit. We all really enjoyed the food.
The staff were friendly, however, service was slow. It took 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and then I had to wave someone over to take our food order, the same when we wanted the dessert menu. This wasn't due to it being busy, as other tables next to us were being served, just seemed our table (which was a large round table for 5 people) was ignored a bit.
Overall, we would definitely come back! Food is well worth the price.
Ended up going here for meal after nice walk at Braidburn valley park. Its dog friendly, has a nice atmosphere and service was very good and quick. Food was also very nice. Will be back again. Definitely worth a visit.

We had our Golden Anniversary there in private room at back great area for family etc . The restaurant is well run and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is also has a bar next-door. I would recommend and will be going back.
Was here a few months ago. I booked a table for 10 for after a funeral. When we arrived that number increased to 13 people. The shift manager was great. He was absolutely fine with a few more people and accompanied us with no problems. All the staff made our visit as great as it could possibly be. Thank you to all the staff and we will be back in the future.
had a birthday lunch for my wife. the staff were brilliant the food was brilliant and the service was above and beyond. definitely recommend this restaurant. they also have a function room which we have used on several occasions over the years great venue for a party. or big family get together.
Before leaving Edinburgh we searched for some nice place to eat and found this one. Staff was polite and welcoming given that we didn't book a table beforehand.
I was surprised to read some negative one-star feedback here. Our experience was really great. Perhaps, because only a third of tables were occupied but our food came very fast and was really delicious.
Both buttered haddoc and smoked Scottish salmon were some of the best we have had. Well done and thank you very much!
We went there for the first time yesterday. We had a late lunch 🥙. I went for the Tex Mex burger and the husband for some pasta with mushrooms & ham. We had a starter, main and coffees and paid about £40 for the table. The staff was lovely, friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is spacious and a great option for lunch while social distancing in these times of COVID. It is also a family-friendly restaurant which is good to know. We will come back 🙂
Good food! Haddock small portion was more like a big portion and the normal portion was huge :o but it was really good. The pizza wasn’t so bad but I wouldn’t take it again.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, cheery staff and a reasonably priced, well stocked menu.
The General Manager Mike talked us through booking an event room for a funeral wake. He was kind, respectful and knowledgeable.
The events room was spacious and light and the buffet options are reasonably priced. We did however notice that the chandelier type decorations were dusty and at least 2 were broken as well as there being marks on the walls and scores in the flooring and chairs. There is plenty of parking available and outdoor seating which complements the venue well and on a bright summer's day is ideal.
Overall a lovely wee place but it could do with a little extra care to bump it up to a 5 star review.
Good pub grub style menu with lots of options from steak to pizza and burgers. Busy even on a Thursday night. Food was good. Service was good. Recommended
First time at this restaurant & it was fantastic the service was 100% spot on great customer service, we had breakfast which was absolutely beautiful, coffees were also tasty. Highly recommend this restaurant it also has great deals on different days. Very clean & staff friendly with a nice greeting on arrival.
